    The building that you mentioned is Agra Fort, from there you can see Taj Mahal, Prashant missed it, Fatehpur Sikri is 40 kms away from Agra towards Mathura/Bharatpur. Agra Fort is the place where Shah Jahan (who built Taj Mahal in memory of his wife ) stayed in last days as a prisoner (his son kept him in prison there, so he could at least see Taj Mahal in his last days). Regarding the fragrances I was expecting a lot from the Gul Rouge, but was disappointed. Mostly Flower vendors in Agra get roses from Aligarh and once I had the chance of having those in huge quantities in my room for a festival, and I fell in love with "that" fragrance and since then have been on hunt for "that Rose Fragrance", it was beyond anything, In an interview there was a mention by Anita Lal that may be they sourced roses from Aligarh, I was expecting a lot but somehow the fragrance didn't reach close to what I'm seeking. Haven't tried the attars yet, still hoping may be Attar could deliver what Gul rouge couldn't.
    As you mentioned "it is one the most beautiful rose" that you smelled and the fact I didn't like it, my hopes are low If I could ever get the ROSE fragrance my heart is seeking.
    You were spot on when you said it not dewy and all :D
    In the end I would say the one that I liked from the entire discovery set is Malli Insolite.
    Also, Incarnation one reminds me temples in India, like you are in temple and there are ladies with their own scents and everything is missed (tika powder of temples+ yagnya ingredients + women scent all mixed ). TBF, Incarnation was too much for my nose.
    Vettiver is just what the description says, but didn't like the dry down.
    Also, would love it if you could try Gulnar Intense Perfume from Forest Essentials for rose and give your views.
    PS - The building can be Fatehpur Sikri as well, but I'm not sure if one could see Taj Mahal from there .

    Hi Persolaise. Wow! Thanks for an incredible review. I seem to be missing your "live" notifications... So glad to have seen this and hope to smell some of these. You certainly brought the experience to life with your eloquently thoughtful descriptions.

    Once again, I appreciate your absolute honesty about brands and their latest offerings. We are becoming accustomed to paying more and more for just decent quality.
    After this review I went to my Neela Vermeire samples to try Trayee...and realized I didn't have it. So now I need to get a sample Trayee and the whole Lilanur discovery set just so I can try Incarnation. I was one of the ones requesting new brand reviews forgetting how it affects my pocketbook 🤣 I already have a significant"to buy" waitlist.

    Malli in tamil means jasmine. Maali in Hindi means garderner.

      I wonder if calling it agar wood is important (rather than oud). Apparently, the agar wood has no barnyard funky notes; those barnyard oud notes come from the processing (sinking of wood chips in water, etc.).

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  2 роки тому +1

      You may well have a pint there. But I think in French ‘bois d’agar’ is the main way of saying ‘Oud.’ I cold be wrong though.

      @@Persolaise Dear Mr. P, in all things fragrance, I defer to your expertise!! 🙏🙏 what I mentioned was something Russian Adam told me about oud distillation, that my very very hobbiest/layman’s mind knows almost nothing about, lol! Thank you for the learning! ❤️🙏❤️🙏

    For the price of a couple of their attars I could go to India, visit my family and in-laws, and purchase attars made in Kannuaj. Appreciate that everyone can't do that, but am I going to cherish every little drop of perfume and attar I've got in my collection!

    I’ve never been too much into single note things so easy to agree with the last point. But also like you said, may be they don’t see a big market for more complex and abstract compositions. Another perspective can be that if more brands acted in adventurous manner, eventually the market will get there. Starting to sound like chicken and egg situation, I guess 🤔

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, some brands need to start being braver, so that buyers begin to realise that they didn’t even know they wanted more interesting pieces of work.

    I hope it would not be a sacrilege to say, but Habit Rouge takes me back to China. Red being the lucky colour in China, a red gown or Jacket would surely be considered a very good thing in the cultural environment. The scent takes me back to a market in an old building where the smell of woods and a sweetish spicyness, which I also know from Chinese herbal formulas, was in the air. Habit Rouge smells a bit more elegant to my Euopean nose and of ancient times. I know this must sound crazy but I am convinced that ancient China smelled of at least facets of Habit Rouge. It would have to be a memory on a genetic level embedded somewhere inside my subconscious until I smelt the perfume. And it must have covered several generations, as it was my grandfather who spent about 25 years in China in the beginning of the last century. I like to believe it, I admit.
    Sorry if I have gone on quite a tangent here. But your rose association and maybe the incarnation theme mentioned sparked my memory again.

    • @Persolaise

      Definitely not sacrilege. And actually, your comment has made me wonder whether HR is successful in China.

    Is "Malli" spelt the way I have it here? If so, it could be Tamil or Kannada for jasmine ("mulla" is jasmine in Malayalam).
