@@irenairena4782 I’ve never really gotten a clear answer, but maybe sick or other commitments. But then, I don’t know why there aren’t back-ups. It seems like some breeds absent in 2023 were also absent in 2022.
I'm not even really a dog person but I love watching this show every year. All of the ones in this category were beautiful and that golden retriever was perfect 😍
Me, too. My best friend had Dolly who lived to 15.5 years. At 14 she charged through a locked screen door to check an aggressive pup that had come on to the property and was hassling me, her human sister. She did nothing on command, she was her own girl, but she was willing to kick some dog butt when she saw me in distress.
I wish they didn’t mic the judge when he’s doing the actual judging and only giving directions. It makes it so you can’t hear the announcer talking about the breed. All the judge needs is to be given a handheld mic to announce the winner at the end.

The Irish Red and White Setter is so cute! 3:05 Also the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje 22:20 the American Water Spaniel stole my heart too 24:18 i grew up with labs so they will always have a special place in my heart 20:13
The vizsla in this group has a cute face good gaze but his chest isn’t deep enough. Even my neighborhood vizslas have deeper chest than this one. Makes me wonder how the best in breed was selected.
I can’t believe he didn’t pull the English Setter. I thought she and the Irish setter were the two best dogs conformation wise and movement wise and overall breed type!
If there wasn't muscle definition in the back legs and are flat footed it's a no go. The spine was beautiful along with the head and you are correct in the fluidity of their walk.
Or you could just watch field competitions instead of conformation shows. A LOT of these dogs are field champions and are well able to hunt regardless of whether their owners actually take them out hunting.
English SETTER so beautiful elegant...watch DAR Animal Rescue in greece. she rescues MORE english setters found starving, injured, sick, desperate than any other BREED!! found alone in fields, unable to get up or walk, etc. absolutely SHOCKING!! It appears that the farmers/"sports"men in that area use english setters a LOT for hunting birds etc, then they discard them, dump them, fail to feed/vet them when they get old or injured or the owners take on a new hobby. DREADFUL!!!
agreed; but theres LOTS and LOTS of them in greece for some reason...she rehabs them; its one of the FEW animal rescues I would donate to. Pls look it up on yt; good heartwarming videos on there..@@fleurybreedin3682
They have to stop bringing the poofy beauty pageant dogs into the true sporting category, or create a real division for true Sporting breeds that actually see field time. GSP's, Wirehair's, Griffons, Weims, and Braccos should always be at the top of this pack. All too often we see too many winners that you'll never see in the fields hunting.
@@lynax6980 Hmm strange, I never see them out there and I hunt 200+ days a year in the highest producing areas for upland game across 5 states. It's all GSP,'s Wirehaired pointers, Griffons, and a smattering of the others.
Why don't you just watch field competitions instead of conformation shows? A LOT of these dogs are field champions and know HOW to hunt regardless of whether their owners actually take them out hunting.
unfortunately they are not yet accepted by the akc, but they are in foundation stock service meaning they still protect the breed but are holding off on accepting them until they become more developed. In addition, this video only showcases sporting breeds: aka breeds that are bred for hunting birds. Catahoulas would be considered hound dogs as they hunt larger game like pigs. regardless, they are amazing dogs and i hope they are accepted soon!
Just to bad that These dogshows dont care for bad breeding. They should focus on geneticly healthy dogs that can live a long life, rather than looking if they have the right pawsize or furcoat. My dog was a purepbred akita as well, and outlived all its siblings, despite not "making it" in the pedigree list. and why? Because she was 2cm to tall. Think about it. They should test agility ability and fitness. Just look at all the overbreed Dogs that always win the shows, they are unhealthy, dont live long, but hey, at least you got a pedigree tag on it eh?

The first owner showcased in the video seems to be lacking the fundamental understanding of responsible and compassionate pet ownership. The way he handles and treats his dog is not only unpleasant to witness but raises serious concerns about the well-being of the canine. 👎Dogs are loyal companions, not mere assets for profit. It's disheartening to see such behavior in a setting meant to celebrate these wonderful animals.

Golden retriever looked stunning but the Irish setter matched the breed standard perfectly
Magnificent looking dogs in the sporting group
Course are breed winners, th red Irish are my favorite. beauties. Welsh Sprinters usually w/ docked tails, but that one looked good w/ natural ..

My parents were breeders 19:34 of the Golden Retriever. Baron and Bell had 9 litters of pups. One being the Romper Room Dog, Copper.
What’s the kennel name? Curious because it’s pretty hard to find show bred golden retrievers these days
The golden one is the goldenest I have ever seen shines like a sun!
I'm smiling so much my cheeks hurt - all so beautiful.
Wired vizsla is stunning so much better looking imo
Sporting group has my favorite breeds. The judge was the kindest, most polite man.

Chesapeake, beautiful, loyal, hard working, the Winner!
