Arena IS designed to keep you at a 50% winrate, but I don't think it uses the shuffler to that end in most formats. It makes them more money because matchmaking algorithms have observed how many bad matches people will endure without quitting the game outright and abuses that to force wins/losses for players that will keep playing because of the win/continue playing in spite of the loss. Every modern game with skill based matchmaking is designed to function this way, which is why matchmaking is generally a bad mechanic that players dislike compared to server browsers or hosted games. Essentially matchmaking is a scam designed to get players to play the game more and engage with MTX more in all videogames and MTGA is definitely no exception to that.
yeah the shuffler is just kind of crappy, in fact I daresay it isn't even sophisticated enough to be able to be rigged against you. True randomness is functionally impossible above the quantum scale; MTGA's hand smoothing algorithms could hardly be further from randomness. That said the matchmaking algorithm is absolutely trying to give you a 50% average winrate, and this means you do not get a 50-50 chance of winning any given ranked game. Some games are 20-80 and others are 80-20. Sure it averages to 50-50 but it doesn't feel that way and frankly wasn't that way at all.

The rack is BACK?!? Thank you Saffron!!! 🎉
I love how it's called 8 rack but only 3 of each effect 😂
Sure it averages to 50-50 but it doesn't feel that way and frankly wasn't that way at all.
the malakir land is a good addition with grief
Piloting 8 rack, as u called it, is knowing the meta in the format, as well as your opponents deck better than they do.
Man.. this deck is super cool.. i was thinking about making it irl. Then I look up at the price. Modern is basically unplayable for mere mortals like me. This deck doesn’t even play fetches and shocks.. and is absurd. Thank god for pauper.
I'm going to start playtestung this
why no ensnaring bridge?
"What is even competing with shadow spear?" Uh, kaldra. Hammer.
10:30 you can literally discard with regenerate
Can we get Scamtern? (Scam and lantern?)
Gotta put in hypnotic specter man
55:26 opponent’s internet might have dropped out for 20 minutes, giving you the win and 5 - 0
I don't care how you build it, if you play against any rack deck it just feels like a scam. Feels great to play though. One of those "All the fun for me and none for you" strats.
S E T H ! !
YOUR DECK HAS A *Pithing Needle* !!
You name *Shadowspear* , it can equip to neither Jack _NOR_ Squat!
I splash red but use 0 creatures. Just ensnaring bridge and like lilianas caress.
Instead of him getting a rack there in match 5 couldn't Seth have gotten the pithing needle naming the equipment so that it couldn't have been equipped therefore no life gain?
Best equipment? Skullclamp.
In modern? Hammer, kaldra both competing w shadowspear.
Batterskull deserves mention.
U stole my idea.. But i am happy that someone with more experience try this brew
