- Everybody loves Hachiroku, even though most of us don’t understand it. The Toyota Sprinter Trueno was never meant to be a JDM superstar but when it became the main star of the Japanese manga, Initial D, everyone understood the capability of this little underpowered hatch. Though the days of delivering tofu on Mount Akina have passed, this particular Hachiroku has been living comfortably in Malaysia and Danial has a bone to pick with it!

Finally someone said it. So many cars are overhyped and overpriced nowadays due to JDM fever. It's really sad for us car enthusiast who grew up appreciating these cars and dreamt of owning them due to their affordability.

I agree with you, it really is overhyped. Same thing with EG, EH, EJ 2D hatchbacks that still is using the original engine that barely made 100hp and asking RM100K+. Even a souped up 4G93 Satria would outperform that for a fraction of the price
Honestly surprised the VW Beetle didn't suffer the same severity of fate the 86 did, they are both cult icons.

Just like any other collectors' items, its value is not derived from its speed, tech, fuel efficiency and so on. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

Every jdm tag car is overpriced these days to the point that rhe younger generation (unless daddykasi) will not be able to afford it as how the manufacturers wanted it to be... R34,Supra,Evo, this Ae86, cefiro a31, and the list goes on... same problem. They're not rare but you just dont see them on the road anymore because people pay wayyy too much and let it sit in the garage because they're too expensive to drive. Tragic.......
if you want a similar car to the ae86 but don't want to pay the hype tax, then just get an e70 corolla. It's basically the same car underneath.

I hate how all the old jdm cars blew up due to media. They were built to be cheap and fun but now they are mostly garage queens. Great video 👍🏾
