As a boxing fanatic, I appreciate your videos. I am a special needs person, so I cannot participate in boxing, but cus his lessons can be applied to life just as easily as they can boxing.
I love this! This content is so valuable! I've been indulging in Peekaboo inspired movements just to burn calories and keep the heartrate up. I'm so grateful for what you're doing!
finnnnaaaalllllyyyyyy been waiting on this...and appreciate you saying the 3x3min rds too.......i throw all kinds of combos with my slip bag...but i got NO issue restarting with these basics.....slip & jabs...jabs & slips...lets goooooo
Hey carter, can we get a video of beginner boxers routine. Such as how they warm up, the drills they do and when they do calisthenics? Thanks again for the amazing videos and keep it up man they really helping me out.
Wow this is incredible to have someone with your training lineage posting videos. I love the peek-a-boo style and though I am only around 150 pounds, this style works great for me because I have short arms but long, athletic legs and spar a lot of taller men so I need to get creative and get inside. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I appreciate it!
When Steve Lott uploaded hours of Mike sparring I downloaded them all. So glad I did as most have been taken down after Steve passed away. Annoyingly one of the videos didn’t download properly of Mikes amateur rematch with Henry Tillman in HD and it has no sound.
Hey man, im so lucky i came across your channel, i love what youre doing. I love 3 hours away from your gym, and its been my dream for the past couple of years to learn how to fight in the peek a boo style. Is there anyone I could contact or call so I can come and train one day?
I could’ve sworn I saw a video of Cus saying he didn’t rank Sugar Ray Robinson as the greatest of all time because he was too easy to hit. I can’t find that video on my hard drive. Wish I could remember which video it was. He obviously put a lot of emphasis on defence and felt Robinson was a great offensive fighter but to be the best he had to be equally as good defensively.
As a boxing enthusiast I’d have to say kickboxing is the superior art. Those slips are beautiful in boxing but when legs are involved those slips remove you from your center of gravity rendering unable to avoid a hard leg kick set up by a feinted jab.
As a motorcycle enthusiast I'd have to say the car is the superior vehicle. Countersteering is beautiful on a bike, but when four wheels are involved the counter steering technique renders a car unable to avoid driving off the road in a corner.
Carter, on slip countering the jab with a jab: You demonstrated slipping inside the jab. Any thoughts on slipping outside the jab? I always had better luck with the outside slip, I felt like the counter jab had more power and I was safer from the right hand. I've also heard people/coaches say you shouldn't do that. Thoughts?
While I'm no pro, slipping outside is generally better for defense (although requires better timing), than inside slipping however inside slipping is better for countering the mistake, prime position for an uppercut and such
Great question. In the Cus style, we slip outside of the shoulder, further than most boxers. So when we slip to the “inside,” as you’re calling it, we actually slip far enough to where we end up on the outside of the right hand, safe from it. Additionally, you slip and jab at the same time, so technically, your arm should block off / smother the right hand if you happen to be in line for it.
@@peekabooboxingacademy Makes sense to me. I'm well past retired but would have loved to have had your channel as a resource in the mid 2000s. I realized early on that I wanted to have excellent head movement so I started watching guys like Dempsey, Cotto, Tyson, etc. Since my brains aren't all scrambled eggs today I must have been doing something right! Thank you.
Hey Carter awesome vid btw your vids have helped me improve tremendously! I also have a few questions about a pair of gloves I’ve seen you use, could you help me with my questions? Thank you!
So I saw on your instagram that you had the topboxer old school gloves in brown. I’m wondering what your thoughts are about the gloves, do your sparring partners still feel your punches despite all the padding, how comfortable are they, and are they durable?
@ I’m no longer using them in sparring because I just coach now. But I used them for many years and I think they’re awesome. I’ve had people tell me they feel my knuckles through the padding so I wouldn’t worry about too much padding haha.
@@peekabooboxingacademy Thats great thank you for the help, I’m happy they won’t degrade my power lol I still have to take care of business in their. One last question, who can I contact to plan a trip to the gym I’m wanting to go for my birthday but I didn’t assume I could walk in and just get trained?
As long as you want. The fighters back in the day did it seven days a week, three minute rounds, three rounds a night. The more the better, but don’t sacrifice quantity for quality, of course 🥊
3 questions : 1. If you're in the southpaw stance, do you reverse the left right left slip to right left right? 2. Could you post a syllabus or list of the moves a beginner is supposed to focus on?
It doesn’t change if you’re a southpaw, only changes if you’re fighting a southpaw, in which then yes you’d want to end up on the right, because then your head will be outside of the right hand 🥊 As for your second question, I will go into that in upcoming videos 👌🏼

Thanku soo much coach 🙏🙏🙏 iam will do it everyday until I get perfect 🙏🙏 🙏
Good stuff.
hi, it would be great if you could make a video related to tyson's strength and conditioning training, thanks.
Neck workouts body weight workouts jump rope and running is what mike Tyson did nothing special
Is the first slip always to the left?
Dont we have to stand squared up and lean more forward for slipping?

Is 6 rounds of this slip bag drill everyday too much or too little
Depends on the person body needs rest
I would like your advice on something. If I have a slip bag at home, how long should I be training with it?

Can u make video on floyd patterson some day
How to train to do bob and weave without partner
Use the mirror and focus on your center line
What is in the slip bag? Sand?
