I'm Tanzanian live in Phoenix AZ, my brother who will be landing in Dar tomorrow is married to an African American and we all get along perfectly fine. In fact, she's a much better wife than some of these African wives I've seen here who became more Americanized than American themselves. I've encountered mistreatment from some brothers and sisters from here, I've also met some who consider me family and very happy to see me. At the end of the day, the lies and propaganda is told on both sides with the goal to divide us, some listen and others like me and my brother, we ain't got time for that. As far as we are concerned, all blacks are Africans and we will love them to the end of time no matter what anyone says.

And I've heard the same thing about African- American wives as well as the other way around. I guess it's all about perspective.

When a black American person living in America says Africans hate black people they are saying it wrong, the correct way to say it should be, an African person that they have came in contact with here in America express hate toward me or every African person I came in contact within America has expressed hate or dislike toward me, all people should not be judge base on a few bad apples, we have good and bad on both sides of the fence, African or Americans so the fingerpointing needs to stop however addressing the matter is important to try and stop the widespread of stupidness on both parts.

If i'm shopping for stuff I have to talk to them in Swahili, if they realize i'm not Tanzanian they charge me twice or three times the original price. So i agree, its not just towards black Americans. If you're a foreigner, they'll overcharge you. period.

We are just now able to make anything for ourselves and many of us are still set way back. People forget that black people, though our culture is very well known around the world, make up only a small percentage in the US. We are still the lesser one even in America. Many Africans learn of this reality when they come to America.

In fact, black immigrants, esp. certain demographics like Nigerians, have among the highest income brackets and success. Higher than whites statistically, which should put to rest this nonsense that is peddled about unequal opportunity. When they come w/ strong family values, intact families, high education and a pit bull work and education ethic, ecstatic and grateful to make the most of the opportunities of the west, they succeed and surpass.

Girl I understand the dress code problem! Even in dar es salaam I've had a man tell me off about a maxi dress I wore which was to tight apparently and showed my curves. But the white tourists are allowed whatever because they are not seen as part of the culture. So even if it is annoying to get stares I try to take it as the people are including me in the culture 😊

That's what it is,the whites can wear whatever they want because we know their culture ,but in Africa women its not our culture for women to wear shorts though for now it's start to change somehow its not like ten to fifteen years ago ,I remember those days that mob after surround u they will end up left u naked just to punish u but according to the law its illegal and some people go to jail for that and for now u can not see such behavior. Everyone should wear whatever he’ll they want . Shouldn’t be anybody’s business . I’ve been to Dar, Arusha Tanga and more . I got Scott free because I’m Caucasian. I got that fabric as a welcome at a Primary school in the ceremony they held for me . I wasn’t told it was because I wore a dress 👗 just above the knee. If that was for modesty, that’s fine ! But those big mamas should not shake their butts provocatively right in front of my face in the presence of 900 children 👶🏽. That I could not get my head around, but over all I love to community and the children.
Traveling Sista people should know that staring is rude. I USA or Canada or Europe people from all parts of the world are included wearing what the hell they want . As a Canadian, we bent to the new comers ! We allow burkas and turbans in the government offices , Sikh police officers wear turbans which is not Canadian culture . I cant wear a hat in my passport photo but a woman from Middle East or any Muslim country can’t wear her full on outfit. Who knows who is under that covers! So being Canadian, if I care to wear a fitted long or knee length skirt , it is my God given, human right .
Not all African Countries are the same. I am from South Africa and people down here wear as they wish. We can wear shorts anytime we like however I think this freedom is being abused because some people walk around half naked.

There are some African American men married to Ugandan women in Kampala. You do not see them because they are not in your circles, but they are there.
I'm African and went to university in America and I had the opposite experience. African-Americans were the only demographic from whom I ever felt discrimination. I was accused of acting white due to the fact that I didn't play basketball or listen to rap/hip-hop or use slang...It was one thing after the other. I think the last straw was when I went to a party and had no idea what the Electric Slide was :(. I eventually made some African American friends, most of whom I met through second generation Black Americans.
Yeah sometimes we (African- Americans) just have it completely backwards and don’t realize that we’re ultimate practicing self- hate when we down our own people, or tell them they’re not “black enough” because they don’t have the same experiences as the typical black family. Over charging is very common.Even a Tanzanian can be overcharged if they think you have money(Arriving with expensive car,expensive clothers,jewels etc) If you arrive at the shop with no price tag always prepare to bargain. Always offer to pay half of the price they tell you bargain until you reach the real price. Sometimes pretend to walk away and they will call you back if the amount you offered is the real price. You must learn the art of bargaining in Africa.

For example, in the US there are price tags on goods in shops, and in the end you have to pay _more_ than the price tag says because they just excluded the tax from the price tag. Thank you! What you mentioned about a conspiracy I believe to be true. I spoke with a Dr. from Kenya explaining his experience moving to the US. He said he was explicitly told in the immigration process to stay away from "African Americans", and that we were this and that. But luckily he was not an ignorant person, in fact his wife is a sista from the US. Furthermore I have met Ethiopians, Senegalese, Nigerians, Ghanaians, Angolans, Congolese....one of my best friends growing up was from Togo, and I had nothing but positive interactions. I've found that many Africans that were new to the US were somewhat reserved at first, which I don't blame them, but once they see you're sincere they will give you the clothes off their back. I actually admire the giving nature of many of my African brothers and sisters. Another thing...Essentially every African I've met has encouraged me to visit Africa when I expressed my interest. Because of our different experiences we are a little different, but we are one.

We lived there for over ten years, worked in 34 of the 54 Nations and were lucky that we spoke a few languages, never Swahili.

Love your videos. I do plan to visit Africa. I would love to visit Tanzania and Kenya. Yes, when I say I want to go to Africa, people get quiet. Their eyes say, why do you want to go there. They say you're going to get kidnapped over there. It's so sad. They have never been out of Indy, not even the U.S. I just got my passport in June 2017. My first place I'm going to is Barbados. I want to visit as many places as possible in the 10 years my passport is valid.

I did not get the impression that we are hated when I went to Tanzania. There were many things discussed with random individuals from perceived African American norms in America, to residual customs that we practice unknowingly, to why we are one and will rise/fall together regardless of where we may live. To be honest, I felt more like a person around brothers and sisters on the continent than in America. This is sad, but there just didn't seem to be pressure to be anyone other than who the creator made. Being American didn't really seem to matter other than when I was murdering the Swahili language. I only visited one country and I'm sure that there is a minority who would dislike the American within me, but all I felt was welcome.

Maybe it's because some Africans who come to America see how black Americans are portrayed globally and form an opinion about us before getting to know the truth. I've had some terrible experiences with Nigerian professors in college. They were horribly belittling to us. This was at an HBCU by the way. One in particular constantly told us how much better than us his white counterparts were.

I'm a Black American male and have never encountered any negativity from Continental Africans. Maybe because I'm always well groomed. I even have close friends from the Continent that treat me as family. I don't know they seem to like me a lot. Now, I have seen some Black American females treat C. Africans bad for sure. I'm Tanzanian live in Phoenix AZ, my brother who will be landing in Dar tomorrow is married to an African American and we all get along perfectly fine. In fact, she's a much better wife than some of these African wives I've seen here who became more Americanized than American themselves. I've encountered mistreatment from some brothers and sisters from here, I've also met some who consider me family and very happy to see me. At the end of the day, the lies and propaganda is told on both sides with the goal to divide us, some listen and others like me and my brother, we ain't got time for that. As far as we are concerned, all blacks are Africans and we will love them to the end of time no matter what anyone says.

Girl I understand the dress code problem! Even in dar es salaam I've had a man tell me off about a maxi dress I wore which was to tight apparently and showed my curves. But the white tourists are allowed whatever because they are not seen as part of the culture. So even if it is annoying to get stares I try to take it as the people are including me in the culture 😊

I'm African and went to university in America and I had the opposite experience. African-Americans were the only demographic from whom I ever felt discrimination. I was accused of acting white due to the fact that I didn't play basketball or listen to rap/hip-hop or use slang...It was one thing after the other. I think the last straw was when I went to a party and had no idea what the Electric Slide was :(.
I eventually made some African American friends, most of whom I met through second generation Black Americans.
Yeah sometimes we (African- Americans) just have it completely backwards and don’t realize that we’re ultimate practicing self- hate when we down our own people, or tell them they’re not “black enough” because they don’t have the same experiences as the typical black family. Over charging is very common.Even a Tanzanian can be overcharged if they think you have money(Arriving with expensive car,expensive clothers,jewels etc)
If you arrive at the shop with no price tag always prepare to bargain.
Always offer to pay half of the price they tell you bargain until you reach the real price.
Sometimes pretend to walk away and they will call you back if the amount you offered is the real price.
You must learn the art of bargaining in Africa.

Thank you! What you mentioned about a conspiracy I believe to be true. I spoke with a Dr. from Kenya explaining his experience moving to the US. He said he was explicitly told in the immigration process to stay away from "African Americans", and that we were this and that. But luckily he was not an ignorant person, in fact his wife is a sista from the US.
Furthermore I have met Ethiopians, Senegalese, Nigerians, Ghanaians, Angolans, Congolese....one of my best friends growing up was from Togo, and I had nothing but positive interactions. I've found that many Africans that were new to the US were somewhat reserved at first, which I don't blame them, but once they see you're sincere they will give you the clothes off their back. I actually admire the giving nature of many of my African brothers and sisters.
Another thing...Essentially every African I've met has encouraged me to visit Africa when I expressed my interest. Because of our different experiences we are a little different, but we are one.

I could wager $500 that you would be hard pressed to find 5 negros in America that know that Africa is a Continent, forget any of them knowing that it's made up of 54 Nations, with thousands of languages, and people of many skin colors. The American negro believe that everyone in Africa speaks Swahili, are black, and are running around chasing monkeys to eat. We lived there for over ten years, worked in 34 of the 54 Nations and were lucky that we spoke a few languages, never Swahili.

Love your videos. I do plan to visit Africa. I would love to visit Tanzania and Kenya. Yes, when I say I want to go to Africa, people get quiet. Their eyes say, why do you want to go there. They say you're going to get kidnapped over there. It's so sad. They have never been out of Indy, not even the U.S. I just got my passport in June 2017. My first place I'm going to is Barbados. I want to visit as many places as possible in the 10 years my passport is valid.

I did not get the impression that we are hated when I went to Tanzania. There were many things discussed with random individuals from perceived African American norms in America, to residual customs that we practice unknowingly, to why we are one and will rise/fall together regardless of where we may live. To be honest, I felt more like a person around brothers and sisters on the continent than in America. This is sad, but there just didn't seem to be pressure to be anyone other than who the creator made. Being American didn't really seem to matter other than when I was murdering the Swahili language. I only visited one country and I'm sure that there is a minority who would dislike the American within me, but all I felt was welcome.

Maybe it's because some Africans who come to America see how black Americans are portrayed globally and form an opinion about us before getting to know the truth. I've had some terrible experiences with Nigerian professors in college. They were horribly belittling to us. This was at an HBCU by the way. One in particular constantly told us how much better than us his white counterparts were.

I even have close friends from the Continent that treat me as family. I don't know they seem to like me a lot. Now, I have seen some Black American females treat C. Africans bad for sure. ...actually as African American you pass and don't stick out so if you bring your entrepreneurial skills and see opportunities and add value to the people the country ... the sky is the limit for you. Now, there are some countries like Kenya and Nigeria that are too westernized and expensive for immigrants ... but Tanzania is a great option.
