If the gauge sweep test is fine, and if the sending unit is working fine, than yes it's probably just a fractured joint. As you can tell from the microscope footage about 3 resistors were fractured.

Can you describe the brake warn LED & buzzer circuit? I have chased the problem down to the circuit board but I cannot find the actual schematic anywhere. I will reflow them, as you suggest, but an understanding of how the grounding of the brake circuit via J3/C220c [~pin9/10 and/or J2/J220b [pin11] causes the LED [D32] to illuminate? Amazingly, I didn't break anything! Unfortunately...this didn't fix the Brake light+dinger situation. Is there any chance you can think of which resistor that might be? I suppose it must be connected directly to one of the input pins (either the parking brake pin, the brake fluid level pin, or the pin that goes out to the 'generic sensors' box (I forget the name of it, but it must be the one that presents the OBD). Because the LED circuit's biasing resistors are downstream of the IC(6) which also (correctly) signals the chime/dinger to fire off (THAT gets annoying, btw) I am pretty sure that 'downstream of IC6' circuit is good to go. Kind of unrelated but I have a buddies O2 super duty in right now that is not charging even though it has a brand new alternator. I’m wondering if something within the cluster is causing all of these issues may try to grab a junkyard one in hopes that it’s still operational. The cluster could be responsible for some of those problems. Don't throw out the original cluster until your 100% sure you have the proper replacement. Different trim models have different clusters, plus the odometer value is stored in the cluster. So if you toss in a high mileage junk yard cluster, you could devalue the vehicle by thousands.

I have a 2000 F250 that I believe has the same problem. Are you able to repair it? If so, what would you charge for that service?
The instrument clusters in this video only go back to 2002. Your 2000 is not the same and of a different design.
What are the wires you had to connect to power up the cluster
I have a 2005 Super Duty V10 XL Manual Trans. No power door locks or windows (manual). The radio, especially in cold weather, takes some time to come on when starting out for the day.Looks like you have the fix.Correct?
Probably could be yes
Kind of unrelated but I have a buddies O2 super duty in right now that is not charging even though it has a brand new alternator. Also the cluster does not work at all and the radio decided to turn on about five minutes after I was checking fuses with the key on. I’m wondering if something within the cluster is causing all of these issues may try to grab a junkyard one in hopes that it’s still operational. Also has .14 amp draw and when I remove the battery saver fuse it drops to near 0.
What’s he liquid he is putting on the board? Flux?

Sorry I don't have a board here to reference. The resistor end is completly broken off?
Are you still repairing these I have a f450 2007 super duty that I am having this issue with

Quick question, on the all black “XL-XLT” 2005-2007 cluster and the silver and black “lariat” cluster. Could I find a lariat cluster and just put that skin on my XLT? Then put it back together and all should work properly correct??
If everything matches up I believe so. I've never tried. Sometimes the prnd321 display changes.
Got a 05 ford f150 brake light stays on can u fix that

great work once again Jeff. There is not a lot on Fords out on the web so I am glad you shared that with us. I would love to see you do a 2005 Ford Explorer Sportrac as I see many failures with them that is very similar to these. Intermittent and loss communication with doors and other things within the truck. Would you please do one of these because I know you will be spot on with the repair! Thanks Jeff and Merry Christmas to you and your Family! James
I believe with the sportrac the truck wont even start when the cluster goes out.
Jeff, I repaired one of these for a customer and everything works except now he has the “Door Ajar” light on with doors closed. 02’ Super Duty. Do you know if the is the MCU chip causing this?
Sorry I'm not sure. I haven't run into this one yet.
Is there a procedure for 2000 lariat psd?
Great video ! 👍
Jeff, Do you have any experience with can-bus sniffing? Looking to turn my 04 Cluster into a relay module, which resends can-bus data(sniffed, and ready to assign) to another newer cluster using something as simple as Arduino.
I'm sorry I do not. But I can recommend contacting Matt from the channel fixed until broken. This sounds like something he would have experience with.
Took my cluster out of my 2000 F-150 to upgrade the bulbs to LED and while I had it out I re soldered the ODOMETER joints but when I went to put it back in the truck the gauges were bottomed out and only a couple lights on and the mileage doesn’t work at all now and my truck won’t crank but it will turn over so I unsoldered and still nothing

Have you ever done a 2005-2010 ford mustang roush instrument cluster?
No just the regular mustang version.
So basically re-solder everything? What is the gel looking stuff your putting on the joint before you re-solder? My 2006 f150 keeps going out, coming back on, all the lights will stay on then go back out, odometer blinks off and on. What are the known trouble spots for these cluster's?
This video covers the common problem spots in these clusters. That's flux you see being used on the joints.
@@jeffescortlx Thanks for replying. I had the cluster out before but I did not check the solder points on the resistors. I'll pull it back out and look those over.

Do you happen to have the wiring diagram ?
I have connector pinout wiring diagrams. Depending on which year range you're talking about one is just sketched out on paper and the other was found with a Google search.
Hey man is this problem common in the 05 ford e250 Cus the same thing is happening on mine. Battery light comes on dash cluster and radio loose power, but its intermittent?
That cluster is a little different, but if I remember correctly it has a similar problem.
What kind of gel flux do you use?
I don’t see your email address. I want to see if you repair the cluster on an 03. If so, what is your cost? I will also need to know how to get my cluster to you. Thanks Derek

Jeff I got a question I can't seem to find a wiring diagram anywhere but do you know if the cluster is tied into the ESOF 4x4 switch inside the cab. I can't find the answer anywhere
I'm not sure off the top of my head. I haven't looked into the wiring diagram for a while. What is the original issue you're trying to solve?
@@jeffescortlx What I'm wondering is if the Cluster short could be the issue why my ESOf switch inside the cab refuses to engage 4x4. I've been chasing the problem down and wanted to see if they were connected. I know the 4x4 icon is in the cluster and it does light up when first started. My next tests will be the control module and T-case shift motor. It's hard to do all this without my Forscan program but it won't be here until Friday now.
What soldering kit?
Is there a good source for instrument cluster bulbs for the 05-07 Super Duty?
Since they are user serviceable you'll be fine with just about any if you stick with incandescent.

Questions does the fuel gauge have problems 04 models I've replaced sending unit injectors and the gauge I can drive 13 miles and the fuel level will drop

I like to think I'm a pretty good place to send clusters to for repair.
What are the symptoms that indicate this type of repair is required?

@@jeffescortlx Thanks. I did see that. I was looking for some more detail, e.g. with / without truck running. I have a situation where, when the truck is off, and a shut the doors, after 10 seconds or so, the mileage display on the cluster blinks on and off, radio, dome lights turn on and off randomly, and sometimes the doors lock and unlock. It acts possessed, if you will. I'm wondering if this could be explained by the battery saver relay circuit problem you are fixing.
@@mathiassmith8246 it's possible. But I don't believe the cluster has any control over the door locks.
But it's a common enough problem it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the cluster gone through.
Very interesting video. Thank you. The fuel gauge associated with my 2006 F250 6.0 has been progressively getting more inaccurate showing a half tank when empty. Could this issue be related to the issues you illustrate here and would the repair be similar? Could I send you my instrument cluster for repair?
Battery saver circuit is not related to the fuel gauge operation. But it could be a internal cluster issue. Could also be a problem at the sending unit. I'd recommend to run a gauge sweep test. I have a video on that if you need.
That's your meter in tank sends faulty information.
