Hilarious that you mentioned the RC10GT Tub Chassis, that’s actually why I’m watching this video, lol. I recently picked up a 94 or 95 GT Tub Chassis and I’m in the process of restoring it & I need to clean the tank. I will more than likely use this method. 👍🏻
Damn I’m all over the place with the commenting haha. I got an idea and it “seemed” to work. I have a HPI mt2 fuel tank with a dirty filter stone. I let it soak in 99% and I use can air with a straw. Easily blasted off gunk from the stone. Just make sure you keep the can work upright and any open port on the fuel tank away from you as it will blow the alcohol in your face(ask how I know)
@@thebug4046 so I bought denatured alcohol from Home Depot. I just want to confirm this is what you’re talking about. The stuff I got is made by Kleen Strip and is in a blue metal can it’s sold in the paint department. Under the denatured alcohol label it also states fuel. If it is the correct t stuff. I want to verify it’s safe to use to clean most nitro components (fuel tank, carb, engine, chassis,) and is also safe on plastics and o rings. I’ll use it outside and will wear gloves. I truly appreciate your help man if you want to do a video on the HPI .15FE I got. Let me know and it’s yours.
Hi Bug thanks for the vid! I brought my old Kyosho Landmax 1 back to life recently and like you would expect it has some tuning issues. I have cleaned tank, carburettor, new air filter, fuel lines and offcourse glowstarter/nitro. It runs okayish I must say now, but is there an way to see if there is any leakage somewhere? When i was tuning it on a box I noticed the HSN started rotating by itself probably because of the vibration, but still it had never done that before. The rubber o ring/seal seemed fine though.
Hey man sorry for the late reply my comments haven't been working properly and if you notice fuel leaking from around the fuel cap around the carburetor or if you have oil spots around your exhaust or a visible exhaust leak all those things will cause problems and the fact that you mention your high speed needle is spinning in its tube means that the O rings are hardened and dried out and need to be replaced that in itself will cause a massive tuning problem!
@@thebug4046 thanks for reply, i have put an o ring on the outside of the HSN to stop it from turning (Landmax has a weird knob so its possible). I will try the fuel tank from my Serpent Cobra on it because i tried and it fits. Because it runs beautifull now iddle and highspeed, only sometimes after a few rounds when accelerating it goes urrrrrrrr and stalls. Like the pressure is of the fuell. I will try that first or else try different carb if that doesnt work. Then I will know what items to replace.
I used to see vids titled this and think what melon cant clean a tank. Until i got my first dirty nitro. No matter how much water i swished around t shit would come out!! I dont understand

Nice man! My dad used an air compressor to unclog my revos fuel tank and it worked without a prob
Got works good too you just have to be careful because of you put too much air pressure you can pop your tank

99% alcohol works great provided you can find it half the time and the cost of it is really expensive especially around here about $8 for 500 ml

I have a hpi tank that has a tension spring how do I put it back on the fuel tank
You have to wind it back the opposite way don't take it apart just leave it as is
I use 20% nitro fuel put some dry rice shake it then wash it out & dry it out .
Waste of fuel denatured alcohol is way Cheaper and works better
I use 10% nitro cuz the less nitro u use the more will ur engine will live or something like that
could isopropyl alcohol work? or do i have to have the methanol?
Yup! It works great! As long as you have 99% the lower numbers is cut with water and don't work.
i tried syringe to clean filter but filter clogged and there is no air or fluid flow, do you have any idea to clean filter ? (in tank stone filter)
Let it sit with methanol or replace the tank
Is methylated spirts ? The same as this ?
Methanol just a very strong alcohol without water in it
I used 20% nitro fuel. It looks like it worked, is this a effective way or is the way your showing in the video better?
Why waste expenses fuel when you can get denatured alcohol and save money and chlen better
@@thebug4046 I’m a 14 year old it isn’t easy to get to the shops
@@zacmlinaric If get your parents to buy it for you you can lecturally buy it any auto parts store

Is this basically the fuel you use in engine without castor
Yup denatured alcohol or methanol
U always clear with the fuel

And now you know!
can i ask sir if you have done playing rc you need to fully empty the fuel tank ?
Just run it out of fuel till it doesn't start. Simple as that. It doesn't hurt anything you don't want to leave fuel in it all the time either.
Rubbing alcohol
99% or it won't work because it has water in in it.
