  • I this acoustic guitar amp comparison I put the Fishman Loudbox Mini up against the Acoustic A20. The A20 is almost half the price, but can it compete with the established Fishman?

    The Acoustic amp was my choice. It had a very natural tone.

    The Acoustic sounds like an acoustic guitar. The Fishman adds to much of an electric sound to my ears though it does have good clarity. I say the Acoustic. If I’m playing an acoustic, I want it to sound like one.

      I agree 👍 tags what I heard when I had it. Look into the bigger models from Acoustic, they have dedicated channels for vocals

      I own the A20 and just purchased the A40 there is a big difference between the two A40 has many more options and is on sale for $100 less so for $200 you have an amazing amp for your acoustic. My Martin D10 plays beautifully on the A20 and has the fishman MXT pickup so decide for yourself

      @@rigosgarage5961 It does have a semi-dedicated channel for vocals. It has two inputs and separate volume controls for each. Isn't that right? In general I've found vocal and acoustic guitar have enough similarities where you can use one EQ setting for both. (since the EQ covers both at once) But you can also use a pre-amp with EQ on your guitar to make any fine-tuning adjustments to the guitar.

    A really well constructed review and comparison. The amps are very close, i prefer the Fishman but really not much in it. The Acoustic is pretty good for the price.
    I would have liked to hear the vocals, you should put them in. I think most of us who watched this are looking to use it for both guitar and vocals.
    Excellent work.

    In comparison, the Acoustic sounded much richer and better for my taste. I’ve had the opportunity to play it in the Guitar Center acoustic room with some of the best guitar name brands and it just seemed to sound progressively better.

    ACOUSTIC A 20 is blowing the Fishman out of the park. Fishman has no depth. The Acoustic sounds great. I have an Acoustic A20, I'm biased. LOL

  • @claudemassee5473

    I preferred the Acoustic. It sounded more natural while the fishman colored the sound and was brighter. I was thinking the Fishman would pair well with a Taylor due to the chimmy brightness, where the Acoustic would better pair with my Martin mahogany D14 with its more mellow and bass like tone.

    At $130 new 01 July 2020, it's definitely the Acoustic A20. It has the benefit of an XLR out so it can serve the stage as a DI box and monitor, and likely ease the guitar EQ task for the sound engineer. The sound quality of the A20 is so nice, I like the notion of having the guitar sounding the same from the practice amp as the monitor.

    Great video🙂 I’m not sure what they sound like in person but through this video the fish man sounded infinitely better. Super clear. The acoustic sounded a little blanketed to me. It did sound to have more bass. I just ordered the fishman 🙂👍🏻 I am learning to sing. Thanks for the comparison video. Did the mic do them justice?

    Should do comparison of A40 to the Fishman. Closer in price, same watts.

    Thanks for the review! Was trying to decide between the acoustic a20 and a fender acoustasonic 40. Nice to know the a20 does not have a dedicated channel for vocals and I need all the help I can get with that!

    I agree, I do like the fishman but I think if you eq the acoustic a20 bass control on the lower end. It gets a nice clear chime like the fishman. I do like the fact that you can add the lower frequency on a20 if you want to accentuate the bass tone. I own the acoustic a20 myself, great value for the price.

    nice one .. you're using a condenser mic, right? i wish you have also tested the guitar plugged .. but yeah i think the acoustic 20 sounds warmer than the loudbox mini unplugged ❤

    I really like the sound and tone from Acoustic A20, but I saw some comments (not here, other retail sites) saying there'll be hiss sound from it. Is there anyone that has used the amp and heard the hiss?

    I use a Pyle PVAMP60 open back 1x8 guitar amp on the clean channel. It has a Reverb, no chorus & no feedback elimination control. It was sub $ 100 new off Amazon. Works fine for an acoustic electric guitar, I play an Applause AE128 super shallow body (Ovation) into it. In this video, the A20 sounded better to me as well.

    Thanks for your review. Good job. Any thoughts on how you think the Acoustic 20 might do when played alongside someone you're playing with who is plugged into the house P A. I mean volume wise. Can it be heard ok?

    • @rigosgarage5961
      @rigosgarage5961  4 роки тому

      You might need to consider the more expensive models from Acoustic in the same model line. The A20 was fairly small and i doubt it'll keep up with a pa system with 12" or even 10" speakers. Idea : use the A20 as your monitor and send the signal from your A20 to the PA. Flatten then input in your PA. Gives you control of your sound via the A20 plus monitor your sound in a live setting

    Firstly, thank you for the time and dedication you put into this review! Next, I am learning guitar (Taylor 314ce) and though I can not play 1 song yet..lol..I am eager to get an amp and for such a nice guitar I want a quality amp. I have been on the fence between fishmans loudbox/ fenders acoustisonic/ and acoustic a20 for weeks. For the money I couldn't get why for $25 more i could buy the Fender and get twice the watts of the Acoustic. But Fishman kept catching my eye. In your review Fishman beat the Fender, but Acoustic beat the Fishman so you have made my decision for me!! Thanks dude! I will let you know how it goes...and yes I subscribed😎

    What's funny is I have the acoustic A40, it's decent, but I know a few people that have the loudbox mini, and that thing just sounds like magic to my ears. I actually spent hours in guitar center a few weeks ago going back and forth between several amps, including a couple from fender. The fishman wins in my book. I'm planning on getting one.

    Ive had the Fishman loudbox 500 for a few years now. Pretty good match with the old Takamine. Bought a Taylor with the Expression pickup and had to add an L.R. Baggs Venue to get a better acoustic sound. The notch filter is a bonus on the venue. Just bought an A20 as the Fishman has a few miles on it. I am amazed at the acoustic sound it produces. The bigger speaker probably makes a difference but through the PA Saturday night it still has a better acoustic guitar sound with out the L.R Baggs Venue plus it can tune out the feedback from the monitors. I like the A20 and the guys in the band gave it a thumbs up as well. I just hope it is as tuff as the Fishman.

    I have a question. I'm kinda new to amps. Can I buy say the a20 and run a microphone from the amp up to my Martin with no electronics built in and get a good sound? Good video also.

    • @rodrigorodriguez3892
      @rodrigorodriguez3892 4 роки тому

      Yes, you can do that. I recommend also looking into aftermarket acoustic guitar pickups. You can get some really neat stuff if you're willing to invest a little bit. Even at lower prices, you can get a lot of bang for your buck with acoustic guitar pickups.

    Probably should have backed off on the Acoustic bass...that's why there's an EQ adjustment knob. Also... the Acoustic manual says it has "1 - 8 inch co-axial woofer, combined with a center tweeter." Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.

    Fishmans overpriced, people will piss $$ away for a specific brand 'name' when they know nothing about the electronics inside the box, the fishmans a $120 dollar amp, the acoustic has it beat in every way, not to mention the 8" speaker with the built in tweeter in the cone, acoustic knows how to get warmth and clarity to perfection vs fishmans chimey electric tone. If acoustic decided to sell the A20 for $400 dollars the greenhorns would buy it, and then tell everyone its the better amp, know what's under the hood before you waste your $$. acoustic isnt into ripping people off like some...

    Fishman beats them all, always have done and no-one has ever produced an acoustic amp to challenge them. I owned an Artist for years and have now ordered a Performer. I once used a Mini for both guitar and vocals in a church with a fair sized sanctuary and it did a great job. Fishman will never let you down plus, they're built to last.
