Its German :) I recently went to Europe for 1.5 months and rented a new car every week. The enthusiast in me wanted to try something new every time. The BMW was hands down the best model I drove. So when I got back, I bought a 2022 BMW M340i...its easily the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. Never in a million years did I think I would get a BMW, my dad has one and he loves it but I also saw his repair bills. But after driving a BMW in downtown Paris and all over Europe...I get it...What foreign cars do you like?

Honestly, I’ve thought about it. And to be honest, I’m probably gonna end up revisiting all the videos because there is just SO much substance. Especially with GM. I’ve also found that so many people are unaware of real data and occasionally come after me with the wrong facts. That tells me that people aren’t informed on some basic information I.e., people think Ford didn’t get a bailout. But I’ve been in the car community so long I assumed that was common knowledge at this point. My fault. But because of GMs extreme greed, and their poor quality so bad the only company I think is worse is Chrysler... I am no longer a GM fan, and its hard for me to get excited about the new Corvette.

I haven't been paying attention to them to be all that honest. All I knew is new ZO-6 Corvettes are pricing as high as $300,000 for dealership price gouging markups when they were supposed to be priced around $130,000 I have heard, to levels of "whispers in the wind." That new Z-06 engines are failing. Doesn't shock me, it's a cool engine, but a high revving flat plane crank V8 made by General Motors at this point screams "mechanical nightmare." I know the new E-ray wasn't well recieved either. I am mostly indifferent to that. The last time I really got excited about Corvette was the C-7 ZR-1, and if I were to own any Corvette right now, I would want a modified C-5 Z-06
WOW! They were charging more than double! I am going to look into this, I might figure out a way to put that in the GM film. That's insanity and just wrong. I seriously considered getting the C8 because the performance and price metrics but I have YET to see one under 60k... And the C5 is great model, its very nostalgic for me.

Without exception, every GM automobile I had in the 70's and 80's, water pumps, radiators, radiator hoses, heater cores, would fail. Head gaskets would fail on those diesels every time. I am commenting on GM, not really so much on your video. ✌️

I am curious about the money trail that led to the production of this documentary. Not defending GM, but who stands to gain if this should erode any market share from them. I remember Ford Pintos fuel tanks, Jeep Wrangler steering shakes, pretty much all EVs on fire watch, and the list goes on. Point being, all auto manufacturers have skeletons in their closet, so hopefully, this is part of a series that may improve the auto industry as a whole.
Stephen, I am going to take this as a big compliment if you think someone/organization is funneling money into this. I am just a normal guy with a laptop that loves the car industry. These videos are being produced to raise awareness about the flaws in the industry and to give people that are dissatisfied (which is most of us) a larger voice. I think the bigger picture, which I hope you will get from not only GM video but the others, is that they have the ability to make affordable, reliable, and durable cars. They just chose to waste their money (which if that money is even there is debatable, considering the subsidies they get) and produce subpar products and the consumer in the end gets the bill. My favorite car brand is Mazda. I also like Hyundai. They used to be garbage but they have improved over the years. They still have a ways to go. Same for both brands.
Glenn, I think those brands are pretty dang good considering the price and what they offer you in warranties. I think it really boils down to owners sometimes. Any particular model you like?
To be fair, I do think EV's are given a bad rap. Why? 1. The most efficient EV requires weight reduction, less options, lower top speed, limitations in usage, must wait hours for a good charge, lower driving distances. To the average vehicle driver, whose had a taste of what ICE vehicles have and can do, there's no going back. Which leads me to my second point: 2. For a potential customer to be interested in an EV, it must have features like an ICE vehicle. This means additional weight, higher costs. This further strains the supply/demand (or lack thereof) for the EV. 3. The stagnation of technological development and vehicular legislation when it comes to EV's or alternative fuel vehicles in general. Why? Because what if I told you that, with enough research, engineering, designing, and prototyping models, you can have an EV or an alternative fuel vehicle MUCH, MUCH cheaper, easy to maintain, sustainable, easy to recycle, and to some extent, a somewhat stylish one that can fit some need in your transportation needs....within reason? Once built, the car is YOURS. YOU fix it. YOU own it. YOU can do whatever you want with it. If used properly, you can put money back into your pockets. No more car notes, loan financing, interest, repossession, etc. 4. The lithium-ion batteries in part get a bad rap due to the public's lack of knowledge of the causes of lithium-ion battery fires, versus the capabilities/limitations of other types of batteries or energy storing options. Say a cell phone has one lithium-ion battery cell; laptops have two. Say 1 cell in 1 billion battery cells fail; the odds are better of being struck by lightning. Meaning the lithium-ion batteries are biblically reliable. The average EV lithium-ion battery has 7,000 cells to increase power storage for range and usage. Now make 1 million vehicles. With 7 billion lithium-ion cells, that means 7 cells will fail. 7 cells in 7 billion cells is still biblically reliable. However, all it takes is one cell going bad to start the fires. Even with 7 cars burning, the 999,993 remaining are still good. The problem is the level of damage those 7 cars do to its surrounding environment which is where the negative perception comes in. It's not uncommon for an EV fire to cause at least $500,000 in damage per fire. 7 fires, $3.5 million. It'll take many more ICE vehicles to create an equal to or much more than that level of damage.
You bring up good points. There is a lot that goes with owning an EV and I think it is more complicated than people think. Have you owned one? I apologize if you have told me in the past. I know a couple guys that own them and I hear nothing but complaints from them. I was considering it but after their experiences, it turned me off almost permanently. -Brandon 🫡

@@A-BombEnergy, also the emissions equipment on the diesels. Yes i have a 2003 chevy 2500HD with the LB7 duramax and a 1999 ford F-350 with the 7.3L diesel. Neither are plagued with the problems of modern vehicles.
Would you recommend those trucks? I am looking to get a truck to haul my energy drinks. I am not experienced with diesels except for what we use in the military.
@@A-BombEnergy, i’d recommend the 7.3L diesel fords over the duramax. Cheaper to repair and the reliability is excellent. Look for a ‘99-‘03 with the 7.3L. The OBS fords with the 7.3L were good but don’t have an intercooler and a very small turbo for the engine size.

However, I imagine during epa testing, the numbers were probably solid. I didn’t know they tried it in the 80’s…thanks for piece of data…mucho useful my friend. I am curious about the money trail that led to the production of this documentary. Not defending GM, but who stands to gain if this should erode any market share from them. I remember Ford Pintos fuel tanks, Jeep Wrangler steering shakes, pretty much all EVs on fire watch, and the list goes on. Point being, all auto manufacturers have skeletons in their closet, so hopefully, this is part of a series that may improve the auto industry as a whole.
Stephen, I am going to take this as a big compliment if you think someone/organization is funneling money into this. I am just a normal guy with a laptop that loves the car industry. These videos are being produced to raise awareness about the flaws in the industry and to give people that are dissatisfied (which is most of us) a larger voice. I think the bigger picture, which I hope you will get from not only GM video but the others, is that they have the ability to make affordable, reliable, and durable cars. They just chose to waste their money (which if that money is even there is debatable, considering the subsidies they get) and produce subpar products and the consumer in the end gets the bill. My favorite car brand is Mazda. I also like Hyundai. They used to be garbage but they have improved over the years. They still have a ways to go. Same for both brands.

To be fair, I do think EV's are given a bad rap. Why?
1. The most efficient EV requires weight reduction, less options, lower top speed, limitations in usage, must wait hours for a good charge, lower driving distances.
To the average vehicle driver, whose had a taste of what ICE vehicles have and can do, there's no going back. Which leads me to my second point:
2. For a potential customer to be interested in an EV, it must have features like an ICE vehicle. This means additional weight, higher costs. This further strains the supply/demand (or lack thereof) for the EV.
3. The stagnation of technological development and vehicular legislation when it comes to EV's or alternative fuel vehicles in general. Why?
Because what if I told you that, with enough research, engineering, designing, and prototyping models, you can have an EV or an alternative fuel vehicle MUCH, MUCH cheaper, easy to maintain, sustainable, easy to recycle, and to some extent, a somewhat stylish one that can fit some need in your transportation needs....within reason?
Once built, the car is YOURS. YOU fix it. YOU own it. YOU can do whatever you want with it. If used properly, you can put money back into your pockets.
No more car notes, loan financing, interest, repossession, etc.
4. The lithium-ion batteries in part get a bad rap due to the public's lack of knowledge of the causes of lithium-ion battery fires, versus the capabilities/limitations of other types of batteries or energy storing options.
Say a cell phone has one lithium-ion battery cell; laptops have two. Say 1 cell in 1 billion battery cells fail; the odds are better of being struck by lightning. Meaning the lithium-ion batteries are biblically reliable.
The average EV lithium-ion battery has 7,000 cells to increase power storage for range and usage. Now make 1 million vehicles. With 7 billion lithium-ion cells, that means 7 cells will fail. 7 cells in 7 billion cells is still biblically reliable.
However, all it takes is one cell going bad to start the fires. Even with 7 cars burning, the 999,993 remaining are still good. The problem is the level of damage those 7 cars do to its surrounding environment which is where the negative perception comes in.
It's not uncommon for an EV fire to cause at least $500,000 in damage per fire. 7 fires, $3.5 million. It'll take many more ICE vehicles to create an equal to or much more than that level of damage.
You bring up good points. There is a lot that goes with owning an EV and I think it is more complicated than people think. Have you owned one? I apologize if you have told me in the past. I know a couple guys that own them and I hear nothing but complaints from them. I was considering it but after their experiences, it turned me off almost permanently. -Brandon 🫡

GM vehicles have been absolute crap since 2008. Buy old, keep them on the road and they’ll last far longer than this new garbage they’re putting out.
I hear this all too often. Once they put that active fuel management in their engines, especially LS, everything has gone downhill at an accelerated rate. Do you have any old rides?
@@A-BombEnergy, also the emissions equipment on the diesels. Yes i have a 2003 chevy 2500HD with the LB7 duramax and a 1999 ford F-350 with the 7.3L diesel. Neither are plagued with the problems of modern vehicles.
Would you recommend those trucks? I am looking to get a truck to haul my energy drinks. I am not experienced with diesels except for what we use in the military.
@@A-BombEnergy, i’d recommend the 7.3L diesel fords over the duramax. Cheaper to repair and the reliability is excellent. Look for a ‘99-‘03 with the 7.3L. The OBS fords with the 7.3L were good but don’t have an intercooler and a very small turbo for the engine size.
