That's why I really love Jiu-Jitsu. You can adapt it to yourself. You can create your own variations of it and nobody will came to you saying that you're wrong, 'cause, in fact, you make it work in all situations...
I love philosophy because i wouldn't be able to act right in school without this. Im trying to learn more that opens the doors. Submitting a white belt is absolutely useless to me but sharpening my ability to pass on what has so freely been given to me. This philosophy stuff is a watch more than once video and changes the meaning of the journey
you guys are great speakers, a lot of great views... one of my favorite things is you never say "uhhhh ummmm uhhh"... usually in a minute video people either edit it to cut them out or leave them, this in raw uncut video of just clear well thought out speach
it's just a philosophy guys.
I enjoy these videos because they help students to keep things simple and focused
Good video, I honestly believe that for example I could someone all the advice in the world and it could help them or not help them at all, but that person must find his/her answer within themselves.
The two sentences are (translation is rough from Portuguese) (1) "I've taught you everything you need to know to be a black belt and beyond, but that is only half." (2) "How far you go now is up to you." I'm just guessing but heck that should be good enough for a two sentence inspiration. Better yet, make up your own two sentence inspiration. I mean, ultimately, isn't that basically what they are saying anyway? Make it your own. Create your own narrative. Create your own success story. It's not out there. You have what it takes, it just needs to be developed.

Renner and Ryron, I got my butt well and truly kicked multiple times yesterday in BJJ class and I have come back to your video to seek inspiration and words of wisdom.

They are 100% correct. It's even more true when you have an issue that forces the modifications to happen. I have limited mobility and strength in my lower body so I have to modify everything. When I first started BJJ I wanted to be a guard player(that was what I saw on the internet) but I had no idea how or even if I could, now my guard is decent( not great admittedly and I realize it probably never will be) but I like to be on top these days anyway so it works out just fine.

@industrialhemprocks submissions aren't exactly applicable to street fighting, so i agree with you there. takedowns and establishing full mount as quickly as possible is applicable though.
@MasterHatfield i agree with you and like that statement why not go for the takedowns and work on the submissions from the top thats what your saying right?
@Brazilianjj if it's applicable, yes. i know i'll stand corrected on my point. but maybe it's a personal preference of mine. i just dont like the idea of breaking some guy's bones as a finisher, but as a desperate attempt to finish the fight if i cant, then yes.

What belt color you wear does not matter. How you train and practice does. Don’t know if that’s what he told them but I would bet it’s something along these lines...

@6XstringXsamurai ok at most Gracie Jiu Jitsu would describe what is now reffered BJJ up until around the mid 90's. After Rorion Gracie and his family showcased things at the first UFCS it became main stream and Gracie's were no longer the ones single handedly evolving art.
if you want more information consult the oracle i.e. the wikipedia page for the art is title "brazilian jiu jitsu". It would have been titled GJJ 15 years ago. No ego, the art and its name have evolved.
Their family are from Brasil.

gracies practitioners must understand people are out to hit and hurt them one cannot perform an arm bar on somebody first round they must work the opponent and use violent strength before a logical technical approach can be taken (peace)

I have noticed that the bigger guys with wrestling backgrounds who are white and blue belts always want to be on top. They always just try and muscle you over from your knees (which never happens in a competition).....I wonder how they are ever going to develop their defense on their back when they never practice it.

@rhdadrian @rhdadrian the only people who refer to bjj as gjj are gracies, their students, and outsiders who mythologize the family (i'm sure this is the demographic you belong to). i've trained bjj for 5 years and 99% of practitioners refer to their art as "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu". Furthermore, the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) hosts the largest gi based grappling tournaments.
2 sentences were. 1 you arnt trying hard enough.. 2 you should give up now.
lol "Gracie Philosophy," now they name and claim that this philosophy is theirs? A lot of martial arts school have this type of philosophy Gracies... Get over yourselves.
