    In this video, I take a break from all the RV product review videos I've been doing lately and spend a day enjoying summer. Also, our new Ram 3500 diesel truck needs a good highway run every once in a while.
    So, Anne and I headed up to nearby Mount Washington Alpine Resort to take in the views. It was a reasonably clear warm day the scenery did not disappoint, you could see for miles and miles and miles and miles.
    Highlights of the visit besides spectacular panoramic view were Whiskey Jack birds landing our hands, the chair lift ride to the mountain top and a lovely lunch at the Alpine Courtyard Café.
    After Mount Washington, we finish our day trip with visits to Comox Marina Park, Pacific Playgrounds RV Resort and view the recent chainsaw log carvings in Frank James Park near Campbell River.
    All and all a mighty fine summer day on Vancouver Island!

    I'm with you, Ann. We took a Sky Rail trip in Australia that bent us sideways in the wind and rain. Fun times. That did it for me, no more cable cars.

    That was great. Loved it, and I live here. Thanks so much for showing the world what a fabulous place we have here. You couldn't have ended the video any better with a shot of a cruise ship sailing on by.

    I was amazed to hear when a relative of mine told me how much snowfall Vancouver island gets in areas.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  5 років тому +1

      Vancouver Island is fairly mountainous, not Rockie mountain-sized but high enough to get a snowpack and with the moist Pacific marine air moving in on the westerly jet stream systems a lot of snow can be had up there.

    Wow it's beautiful up there. Greetings from sunny Palm Coast, Florida! Thanks for sharing your trip, I'm glad you had fun. Those birds were pretty tame to be landing on your hands, people must be feeding them lol. Was that a squirrel at 11:53? You get to see so much wildlife, thank you again for sharing those moments with us.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  5 років тому

      Yeah, we love it up here in summer. I think it was a little red squirrel which is native to Vancouver Island, we also have eastern gray squirrels here but they were introduced and considered an invasive species, unfortunately, they have led to a decline in the native red squirrels.
      Cheers! Ray

    Thanks Ray for all of the wonderful memories. That cruise ship at the end reminds me of Browns Bay. Watching the cruise ships passing at night all lit up and what appeared to be so close. Lot's of good memories at Comox. We caught the ferry from Comox to Powell River on 9-07-2001. Stayed at an RV park just south of the ferry dock that night. The next day we drove south down through Vancouver and across the border into the USA on 9-08-2001. The reason I remember it so well is because of the attack on the twin towers on 9-11-2001. Canada and the USA shut that border crossing down tight when that happened.
    Thanks for the wonderful pictures and the great memories.

    I like how you show your travels/day trips using googles maps/satellite. I love how Ann says "...Darwin alert..." My hubby says that people who do "stupid" stuff is natures way of culling the herd or he will say Darwin is taking care of things. Are chair lifts like escalators? You have to kind of jump off as its still moving?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  5 років тому +1

      Yes, it keeps moving but slowly, there are staff members at each end to help you on and off the chair. It's pretty easy.

    Very nice video Ray, now I have a question for you, if you where forced to spend the winter in your RV in BC where would you suggest the best weather might be ?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  5 років тому +1

      Thanks. :) Eastern side of Vancouver Island from Campell River south to Victoria, with Victoria likely being the best place since the Olympic Mountains provide a rain shadow and it's mostly surrounded by the ocean which helps moderate temps in the winter. Or over on the lower mainland, Fraser Valley area. Still not balmy but usually not much snow and hard freezes, though it can vary from year to year. I remember one year in Victoria in the 90's we got 3-4 feet one December and it lasted a good week or so, other years hardly a dusting all winter. Having said all the good luck finding an long stay RV site over the winter, full time RVing is booming and for those that don't leave Canada the area is one of the best places to winter in. Many parks are already booked up.

      Thanks Ray, it might be a thought this coming winter, because of health care issues & insurance, PS we have a Mount Washington on this side as well, in New Hamshire, quite a spot, base camp then a ride up the Cog Railroad, one of our nicest trips. Cheers
