  • In this video, Anne and I make a return trip to Mount Washington located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This time we take in the fall colors with a leisurely stroll around the Paradise Meadows Loop Trail. The trail is relatively flat, well-groomed, with many boardwalk areas, benches, and small wooden bridges.
    It's October 7th, 2021, and the colors of the underbrush and meadow grasses were popping with pastel autumn colors. Combined with the evergreens and reflective ponds, it's a beautiful scene to behold! Along the path, we were visited by Whiskey Jacks, Blue Jays, and a curious squirrel.

    I remember hiking to this area, before it was developed. It was a two day hike, up hill both ways.

    Nature at its finest. Beautiful area! Interesting markings on the trees. Love the walking together scene with the two of you, taking a stroll along the board walkway. Hope Anne continues to feel better!

    At 5:40 is that a blue jay in Canada. Looks nothing like an American blue jay but the wings are close. Great video! Ray

      Thanks, its technically called a Steller's Jay www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Stellers_Jay/id but folks out here refer to it as a Blue Jay.

    That blue and black Jay is a Stellers Jay. We don't have them in Southern MN. We have only the Blue Jay here.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  3 роки тому

      Yeah, correct name is Stellers Jay, though most people out here call them blue jays, and the gray jay we call a whiskey jack

    Looks beautiful. About what percentage (roughly) of the loop is boardwalk?

      Here is some info strathconapark.org/park-maps-access/
      "Centennial Loop trail provides easy access to view and enjoy Paradise Meadows. The trail is approximately half boardwalk with the remainder as well packed gravel with no steps. Please use caution as the boardwalks can be uneven and slippery. Wheelchairs and powerchairs can navigate the trail in most weather conditions.
      Benches are scattered around the Centennial Loop to provide viewing areas of the beautiful meadows. Botanical information signs are also dispersed on the trail to mark important plant species that live in Strathcona Provincial Park."
