I came here because i admire your style but found out you coincidentally are using similar cold-day technique i started to back in about april this year. What i like about it is with heat everyday i notice it eventually STOPS styling better, when that happens i know its time for a day without heat. Personally for me i tried it on a whim simply because adding heat was going backwards for me despite using low temps.
I often us extra butter on these days, but daytime butter isn't for everyone my hair just seems to take well to it. Specifically slicker rather then thicker butters like Bahawat, Honest Amish PURE, 8bit, Copper Johns, Ruddy man Summer (liquid) butter, or anything that is very slick rather then thick and sticky seems to do the trick for me.
*Note with 8Bit and Copper Johns, maybe a few i haven't found is it prefers scooping a certain way by by swirling finger around to pick up loosened/heated butter, somehow this works better then simply scooping a blob and just heating in hands best i can, 🤷clueless as to why this is maybe the mix just heats up more consistently with such technique, avoiding stickyness that otherwise results. On my thicker butters (not mentioned by name) this doesn't work sadly.

You make some really good points here and I appreciate the tips you provided. When it comes to butters, I feel the same way. I don’t like thick, sticky butter either.
I need to connect with some of the companies you mentioned here.

I use cool air on my beard and it works. You're definitely on to something.

Thank you Greg! I'm going to try this tomorrow! With a fairly short beard and sparse in many areas, I'm always nervous using heat to tame it. Mostly the sideburns and mid to lower cheek areas. I don't like how balm makes my beard feel and look and butter isn't quite enough depending on the air.
Winter in New Hampshire makes my beard go berserk which is when I use heat the most.

I know what you mean. I’ve gravitated more toward butter over the last couple of years rather than balm. It really depends. I jump back and forth between the two depending on the consistency and the need for the day.

So, gonna do this today. Side note, notice your beard is black/grey. Mine is red/grey. Do you use oil on the thicker side? Or maybe add a few drops of castor or argan oil to help with the grey?

I have a few oils on the thicker side but I don’t shoot for that. I rather like them a little thinner. I don’t add drops of anything.

Great content as always Greg. I'm trying this today. I've been using heat on a blow dryer everyday, but like the idea of having some symblance of hold without heat. Appreciate you. I'm not sure if this is proper to ask, but are you able to have a "join" button to where a person could support your channel and content on a monthly basis? I'm too low level to have anything like that, but I would join this content if it was available as I'm sure others would as well to support such great life applications.

      I appreciate you, Tom!
I have not looked into that yet. I always figured it probably depended on a level of consistency upload that I have yet been able to accomplish.

Hi Greg, I just did the whole process and it works, my beard has a very similar style to when I use heat, it just looks a little shorter, but that's okay. I use heat in the morning but sometimes I go out at night but I don't want to use heat twice a day, this process is perfect. thanks good video 👍
