I haven't seen my own face in nearly a decade, lol. Great video, brother. And don't listen to the haters. You've got a perfectly charming face, haha 😆 💪🏼

All the more reason why I taught myself not to care whether women do or don’t like it. It’s a man thing for me & I grow it based on where I’m at in life mentally. Even though I heard you call “bull crap”, I have indeed taught myself not to care😂. I know there is a woman out there that will like it or at least like my personality enough to deal with it so that’s where I leave it at. Right now, I’m wearing a big stache & long soul patch with a bald head (thanks to some encouragement from you and Courtney). Funnily enough, I got more positive feedback from women with the stache (I think that’s slowly coming back in style) than the beard, so I may have unintentionally done something right. They claim to not often see men with big mustaches and like them.
Greg, hey there. I hope you are well. Thank you for the feedback you received after you removed your beard. Thank you for your shared insight from different people and different aspects of your life. I love it when younger guys try growing a first beard and they say they’re just tired of shaving. Some won’t admit they’re growing it out of curiosity. I tell them a beard is more trouble.
Having a beard has been about the easiest thing in the world for me. Just a little upkeep with good beard shampoo, conditioner, and oil with the use of a sturdy boar bristle brush. No blow-drying, no fancy mustache waxes (except for fun experiments), and I get a compliment from one person or another nearly every time I go out. It's been lovely for my self-esteem. 😊
A beard grows slowly, so people don't notice a change but are getting used to it slowly, so they feel no need to comment. Then you suddenly shave it off and they are surprised by the drastic change. Maybe this is a nice lesson for us all to speak out your feelings before its too late on every level. Have a great day you all. I’m back into 3 months grow now haha, always regret it shaving it off 😂
With beard: tons more positive attention from women. After shaving it off, "was the weight of manhood too much for you?" 🙂(happily bearded again for over a year now: "you look much better and younger")
Last year I had an 8-9 month beard going. After I shaved it off, the first time my aunt saw me she exclaimed, “You look normal!” Haha, maaaan…I instantly regretted shaving. The majority of the women I know prefer stubble or short beard. Every kid I know-my children, their friends, their cousins-prefers the long beard. They tell me I look weird when I shave.
@@Sdfghjk442 yeah, I’d say women lean heavily towards stubble and men lean toward short beard (but longer than stubble). However, the vast majority of boomer generation men that I know still prefer clean shaven. Very few people really appreciate the long beard, even when it’s well groomed.
@@CrazyLinguiniLegs I don’t think stubble is as attractive as people think. Most, if not all, beards look blotchy, empty etc with stubble and when it’s not lined up , it can look sloppy and when it is lined up it looks too “tattoo-y”. Ideal is somewhere in between about 15-20mm beard on a thick beard. This beard doesn’t really leave the skin(like “beards” do) but it gives a real nice “carpet” look rather than a “blotchy” “tattoo” look of stubble
@@Sdfghjk442 oh, I agree with you. But in my experience most women say they prefer anything from stubble up to around 5-7 mm. 15-20 mm is way longer than most women prefer.
@@CrazyLinguiniLegs 5-7 mm on Greg is what 10+mm would like like on most men. You are not accounting for density , coverage and color etc. a fully white patchy beard of 15mm looks the same as a 7mm super dense black beard looks in length. You can’t put a number to what beard is ideal because different lengths look different on different individuals. Also, it would look very strange if you entire beard is one length. Keeping the sides at 7 and chin at 15 would look much better than 7mm throughout. You are probably referring to that one study, but the man used had much quicker growing and denser hair than most men. A 10 day stubble on him would already be around a cm in appearance for most men. That same study said that light stubble (what would be very heavy stubble for most men) may look to patchy to be attractive (and that’s on a guy who already has top tier genes. Like I said, when I really ask women, they say they don’t like a beard that shows too much texture, has flyaways or “leaves the skin”. But they also don’t like too patchy beards. So for most men, this is around a month of growth with tapered sideburns.
I butchered mine last Sunday in an attempt to trim it somewhat short. Yep... It's a shorty. Thank goodness mine grows fast and it WILL grow back out. Wife gave me hell.
I think that the issue is that most people react negatively to change. For years I had a short beard then when I decided to grow it out for the first year people kept telling me to trim it down. Yet now it’s a 10 inch 2 year beard every time I trim it back to 8 inches everyone at work complains.
I watched the video of you shaving your beard off. I think you are handsome with or without your beard but ultimately it is your choice. As Mahesh Hayward says, “your beard isn’t who or what you are, it doesn’t define you”. If I am growing my beard to see what reaction I get then I might as well cut it off because I have gotten maybe two comments in the 4 years I’ve had it. I grow mine because I like it and what it does for me, simple as that!
Heh, I remember when I went fully bald (shaved completely) back in what... 2001 or 2? No one in the university cared, it was understandable since I sported a buzzed short haircut for two years, the progression was clear. The only one that protested, was my mother, she said she wouldn't look at me. In time, she got used to it, but she still doesn't like bald men lol. I made a radical change regarding beard (or the 4 loose hairs that I called beard through my life). I haven't shaved since June. After a month, I started a minoxidil treatment and my goal is to make it to the 3-year mark with the treatment. After that, I will conclude that I can't grow anything else. But no shaving there, at all. I only trim it with scissors, and, in time, I plan to buy a trimming machine. All my life I got the "Just shave that pitiful moustache and those 3 hairs on your chin". No more. They stay. I like them, so be it. 2024 has been a year of changes for me. At my 45, surely the midlife crisis hit bad, real bad. Maybe I'm the only one that found Greg's channel because his advice to shave the head. With his technique, I don't cut as much as I used to when I shaved (and I'm doing it for over 20 years).
I think women love the short beards it makes some men way more masculine looking including myself lol I've come to the conclusion I look better with a beard
Looks good BABY FACE😊😊😂😂 I hope you let your beard grow to 2 or 3 inches soon and do a trimming video because you easily have the BEST beard trimming videos on UA-cam ! I just passed the yeard mark and im going let it keep growing for now . In the past women have said they HATE my beard and that i look much better& younger clean shaven. My wife on the otherhand doesnt mind the BIG beard but she prefers either a goatee ( no thanks been there done that🤮 ) or a short beard around half an inch so a 4 guard or 13mm beard .
Greg, people saying you should be in jail for shaving of your Beard. Do these people not understand that when you shave it will grow back......Stay strong💪
Traitor to the beard community!@ J/k lol. Good for you for doing it. I've had a short/medium beard for the past 10 or so years. I'm almost afraid to shave it completely off at this point
I had this issue when I shaved my head and face To each his own but I think people react the way they do because they don’t like change not because a person looks bad with a shave
In general, if someone can’t say anything nice; need to keep their rudeness to themselves. That being said, “Bro, you look awesome with your beard, and without. Everyone else’s opinion is redundant at this point. Stay handsome ✊.” (Compliment from a straight guy w/a man crush on Henry Cavall as Superman. AKA, you’re very welcome 😉.)
@@GregBoswell428 Funny thing happened yesterday. An elderly lady flat out told me I have an ugly beard. Note: It’s my first beard, and I’m not done growing it to style it. I’m a mobile massage therapist, and do her massage and her husband’s. So I took her insult and let it die, by not giving her any response at all. I’m one that solely believes in “The Golden Rule” & “Believe nothing I hear. Half of what I see, and half in myself. I’m not perfect to believe in myself 100%. I’m not Jesus Christ. 😅”
I used to have to shave yearly for a respiratory fit test. Hated it. I looked like a preteen boy. Plus I have fat muskrat cheeks and that isn’t flattering. You don’t have that problem. But I like your beard videos very much. I never got any reactions after shaving. Its like nobody cared one way or the other and I can’t say I really minded.
@@GregBoswell428 yesss and a beard really fits you generaly. Thanks for your journay you take us with you. I learned a lot about beards an other stuff.
I dont think its the big beard itself but because of it being clean shaven girls didnt like it because theres no beard at all if it was a short beard but still coverd the face i think it wouldnt have been such a big reaction.
My face and head looked just like yours does now until I was 54, then I grew a big beard, the looks, smiles and downright respect I get from both men and women has gone through the roof. My experience has been that right now in the time we are living in, people of both genders like big beards...
Perfect example of confirmation bias. Just ask those around you, especially women what they think to see. The point is, whatever makes us feel confident is what we often think others like as well. The most important thing is how you like your look because you will be seeing yourself the most
Beard stink is the worst. If people want to look older and sloppily that is something I don't care about. It doesn't affect me. But if a guy is sitting next to me with nasty food in his beard. Yeah it affects me. Gross
@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 no it doesn’t. You can easily not care. I can literally count the number of men with beards who have foods stuck in them. There’s just as many clean shaven men I see with sauce etc around their mouths as men with beards. This is also another example of confirmation bias because you are looking only at what confirms your pre-held belief
@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 not at all. And not always. And if you really found beards so gross, I doubt you were near a beard close enough to smell it in the first place
Sorry for all the posts. I know you live where it's 90° with 90% humidity on a cool day, and that you are active and do things outside. Do you feel cooler without the beard? I keep hearing that "A beard does not make you hotter and actually keeps you cooler because of this and that" and I don't buy it for a second. What is your experience?
I have to agree for the most part with their comments. The beard never made me hotter. I kept the sun off my face and anytime there was moisture in the beard it kind of acted like an air conditioner.
@GregBoswell428 That really surprises me a lot. I really don't see the tan line, but about 20 years ago I suddenly started wearing cut off and tank top shirts and it actually took a surprising amount of time for my tshirt tan lines to disappear. I think it took about 6 months!
Women like to gaslight men, if you grow your beard out again, they would say, why, you looked better without a beard, ha! You defo look more handsome clean shaven (Straight man by the way!) lol.
1. Bruno and Berzinsky ARE their beards. In my opinion, thats their raison d'être. You're in a different category because you talk about books and hats and take us for walks around the neighbourhood and for visits to the food court. Thats why you aren't losing subscribers, and also because you're a nice guy that a lot of us can relate to. There's nothing relatable about B and B, TBH (IMO) 2. I was one of the people who said that he doesn't care what women think about their beard, and no, thats not bullcrap (in my own case). I literally don't care. I don't love to post that comment, I dont like to sound nonchalent, I dont like to sound 'tough', and I almost didn't post it about 29 times over, but I genuinely don't care what women think about my beard. As I said last time, if you or another bearded guy took me to one side and told me that my beard wasn't looking great, then I'd pay attention, but there's absolutely zero bullcrap involved in my "I dont care what women think" comment. I know exactly why I dont care, but I shan't explain it in case you think thats bullcrap too. 3. As for your own (former) beard, I'm happy as long as you're happy, but I can tell you this: if someone walked up to me on the street and said "excuse me sir, we can make you look exactly like Greg Boswell, but if you choose the bearded version, we'll chop two of your fingers off, but if you choose the clean shaven version, we'll just chop one finger off", there'd be no hesitation from me. I'd ask them which two fingers they'd like, but I'd also go for the one-finger option (if that were the only option) because you look good clean shaven too. I just think you look better with a beard, but I also think that approximately 98.436% of guys look better with a beard. The remaining 1.564% are either under the age of 13 or suffering from Alopecia Universalis 4. I'm feeling sad about your 'bullcrap' comment. Not sad exactly, but I'm in a state of consternation 5. The best compliment I ever had about my beard took place in the casino of the Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa. I was minding my own business and a bearded guy walked past me and patted me on the back and said "fabulous beard", and that was about 4 years ago and I'm still over the moon. On the flip side, I dont even remember the amount of insults I've received from women because I dont care. The ONLY one I remember is when my mother told me that I looked like a 'bl00dy idiot', and I only remember that because she was my mother. I dont come here to talk bullcrap. I come here to interact with you. At this time, the Sprout has concluded his rant. P.S. Please don't block me.
Well, I hope no one is walking around the UK offering people a chance to look like me at the cost of their fingers. If I ever run into you the first thing I’m going to do is ask you to show me your hands
If your going to shave it off, why not go all the way? It's actually good you got the negative or neutral statements because it sounds like your going to grow it back. Therefore you know that anyone showering you in praise now will be biting their tongue with insults once it returns. At least now you know people prefer your default look.
@@GregBoswell428 oh ok, i recently shaved my beard and have a goatee now; is there a particular reason you don't want to have one again? Do you just not like the appearance - or are they too much work to maintain, etc.?
Men always look better without a beard compared to when you see them with one. I grew a long beard and looked like a maniac. I cringe to see my old pictures. If you have a manly jaw line, there is nothing to gain with one.

😂😂😂
It's knocked days off you Greg 😂
You are handsome man with beautiful energy. Both looks suit you. I like beards, you look more attractive with beard but also without beard.
I think that the issue is that most people react negatively to change. For years I had a short beard then when I decided to grow it out for the first year people kept telling me to trim it down. Yet now it’s a 10 inch 2 year beard every time I trim it back to 8 inches everyone at work complains.
I think you nailed it. 👍
I’m too addicted to mine. I’ve at least had a mustache and goatee for the past 25+ years.
Me personally, you have a great face shape and chin! I think as a beard grower an every couple of year reset is healthy for the beard.
Thanks!
Looks good BABY FACE😊😊😂😂
I hope you let your beard grow to 2 or 3 inches soon and do a trimming video because you easily have the BEST beard trimming videos on UA-cam !
Thanks! I’ll probably grow out short to medium beards for awhile
Beards always better
"Calvin Coolidge" FTW!
Greg, people saying you should be in jail for shaving of your Beard.
Do these people not understand that when you shave it will grow back......Stay strong💪
I think they’re just playing around with me. Doesn’t bother me. But I do appreciate your concern, sincerely. That’s very nice.👍
Grow the beard 💯
Traitor to the beard community!@
J/k lol. Good for you for doing it. I've had a short/medium beard for the past 10 or so years. I'm almost afraid to shave it completely off at this point
Greg, I think you’re a pimp with or without a beard! 💯👊🏼
Thanks Michael
@@GregBoswell428 you’re welcome!
I had this issue when I shaved my head and face
To each his own but I think people react the way they do because they don’t like change not because a person looks bad with a shave

I used to have to shave yearly for a respiratory fit test. Hated it. I looked like a preteen boy. Plus I have fat muskrat cheeks and that isn’t flattering. You don’t have that problem. I dont think its the big beard itself but because of it being clean shaven girls didnt like it because theres no beard at all if it was a short beard but still coverd the face i think it wouldnt have been such a big reaction.
@@weriesblack1375 quite possibly
@@Sdfghjk442 beards get a weird stinky odor to. So gross.

@@stephenshelton4267 I hate that when that happens 😅

There's nothing relatable about B and B, TBH (IMO)
The remaining 1.564% are either under the age of 13 or suffering from Alopecia Universalis
4. I'm feeling sad about your 'bullcrap' comment. Not sad exactly, but I'm in a state of consternation
I’m not really sure. Most people say they like it either way.
