Very nice list, Marianna. Out of your selections, there are only four that were on my Top 10. So glad you gave All Quiet some love! That's my personal favorite of the year and a lot of the movies on here are on my top ten as well with the exception of Babylon... Still haven't seen it yet.
I get why people love Babylon, but the main thing I disliked about it was the comedy. It kind of felt like a 3 hour Key and Peele sketch. I still can’t wait to see what Chazelle does next, I just hope he does something a lot less cartoonish

Couldn’t agree more ❤ and thank you because I watched many of this list after seeing your reviews and I literally thanked you in my mind while watching 😅 Love your taste 👍🏼
Absolutely incredible video Marianna. Loved it. Awesome list there. What a year for films. Last year was fantastic I thought. Everything everywhere all at once is also my favourite movie of last year. I loved the Batman, and top gun maverick as well. Still need to watch All Quiet on the Western Front. I’ve heard amazing things about it, and I love war films, so will have to get round to watching it soon. Keep up the great work. Also the Banshees of Insherin is amazing as well.👍😃
Tar was amazing and loved Cate's performance. If like Everything, I like to mention the TV series "American Born Chinese" which features Michelle and Ke Huy is fun roles. One of my favorite shows of 2023. Great to see them both again.
Great list! Pretty close to my top 10. I would add “The Menu”, “RRR”, and “The Northman” over “Elvis” (wished it had focused less on Tom Hanks), “Babylon” (very entertaining but could have been edited down quite a bit IMO), and “X” (just because I haven’t seen it yet). My Top 3 were “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Everything Everywhere”, and “The Menu”.
Thanks for your top 10, Marianna! I always look forward to your thoughts on movies. Tar was the only one that I didn't care for. Critics said the writing and the filmmaking are superb. I get that, but I felt like it was just too pretentious and long-winded for its own good. It is also difficult for me to connect to a character like Tar.
Yea Tar is a movie I've only seen the trailer. One of those movies that I don't know what's going on but also know I won't like it. I'm not interested in movies that deal with petty behaviors of humanity, like cancel-culture. I like movies with heart and soul and hardships. Outlander comes to mind, although not a movie.
Though my list is quite different then yours, I want to share mine and say your list is amazing. My list is a bit blockbuster-y but here it is: 10. Violent Night (I just love the Fight Choreography, the love letter to Home Alone and the comedy cause Action Comedies might be my favorite genre) 9. Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (such a sweet love letter to fashion and the 50's) 8. Barbarian (I loved my theater experience so so much my personal favorite Horror movie of the year) 7. Black Panther Wakanda Forever (Just an amazing Marvel product and movie) 6. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (action comedy that I felt was also somehow a heartfelt family story) 5. Devotion (I absolutely loved this movie, it doesn't have the highest rewatchablity, but it is such a powerful story) 4. Bullet Train (on the other side, super rewatchable fun fun ride) 3. Babylon (The last movie of the year which is likely a shame cause if I’d watched it this year it might have been the top for this year cause I believe it is that good. I really wish I’d been able to see it more then twice in the theater) 2. Top Gun Maverick (no need to say anything here) 1. Elvis (Too much to say about this movie, This is officially the movie I've seen the most times in theaters, one week we saw it 5 times, it re-sparked my absolute love for Elvis Presley, and it will always be a special movie between my best friend and I)
Bravo-- your lists are always so worth the wait-I am excited to see the 6 from this list -i haven't seen yet! i disagree on TAR and Top Gun ,but am considering a rewatch. Banshees was incredible (3rd time just as impressed with the relatability of the characters) once again, --Brava!!!
1. The Batman 2. All quiet on the western front 3. Elvis 4. Puss in boots 2 5. Top gun 2 6. Black phone 7. The Northman 8. The fablemans 9. Nope 10. Pearl/x
My top 10 films of 2022: 10. Weird The Al Yankovic Story 9. NOPE 8. Violent Night 7. Spirited 6. The Paloni Show Halloween Special 5. Marcel The Shell With Shoes On 4. Brian And Charles 3. Bullet Train 2. Vengeance 1. Everything Everywhere All At Once
AWESOME LIST!!!! I’m pretty much with you film-for-film here, no exaggeration. Your placements of each movie and rationales make total sense. The only one i still need to check out is ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’; I think I might try to read the book first. Wonderful picks, keep making awesome videos. Already looking forward to your Best of 2023!!!
Thank you for loving Babylon!!! An instant top 10 overall movie for me, and everything everywhere all at once may be the best movie I’ve ever seen! But I am SHOCKED the menu didn’t even rank!!
"To Leslie" is at or near the top of my list and I have not hear anybody talking about it. The performance by Andrea Riseborough was amazing and should bring her an oscar....
@@ImpressionBlend When did the fun start? I’m asking sincerely. I walked out about 45 minutes in. I saw no fun, no humor. I endured a group of alleged friends treat each other like garbage the entire time until the older boyfriend went to bed, then I left too. It seems the first half soured me against not seeing what everyone else seems to have enjoyed in this movie.
Our top two of the year match 😂 I had both Tar and Everything Everywhere All At Once tied for first. Rounding out the rest of my top 5 are The Northman, Pearl, and Crimes of the Future. Great list! I still need to see Triangle of Sadness and Elvis, but I loved pretty much every movie on this list! 2022 was a banger of a year 🤘🤘
Literally obsessed with this list. We share so many faves. I’ve been so busy this past year so I haven’t really gotten to see a lot of your vids, but this reminded me of why I love your channel so much. I’ve been a subscriber since 2016 I think (maybe earlier). I just love your taste and how you’re so open to challenging or unconventional films. Babylon is hands down my favorite of last year. I’m so glad you appreciated it too. I genuinely cannot comprehend the level of hate it’s gotten, kinda makes me sad because of the obvious amount of work and care that was put into making it. I think you’re right that it will be much more appreciated in the future. The ending gave me chills.
My Top 10 Best (Favorite) Movies of 2022: 10. NOPE 9. Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood 8. Death on the Nile 7. Belle* 6. A Christmas Story Christmas 5. Everything Everywhere All At Once 4. Pompo: The Cinéphile* 3. PREY 2. The Sea Beast 1. RRR
Great List Marianna. My list is. 1. Everything Everywhere all at once. 2. Banshees of Inesherin. 3. Top gun maverick. 4. The Fablemans. 5. RRR. 6. The Northman. 7. Glass Onion. 8. TAR. 9. All Quiet on the Western Front 10. Elvis
After having the same movies as my favorite of all time for decades (the first 2 Godfathers, Graduate, Annie Hall, etc), I think "Everything Everywhere All At Once" has usurped them all as my favorite movie of all time. And I've only seen it once.
I'll give some movies I liked last year but no order then I'll give my favorite of everything I saw. Scream 5 pearl x Tar Deadstream (There's many more but I just can't think of everything right now) My absolute favorite of 2022 is Bones and All. I am very surprised it's not on your list but I also have 0 idea if you liked it or not cuz I haven't looked to see if you reviewed it or not lol. It's just so beautiful and it hit me very hard on a personal level for me cuz its pretty relatable for me and something I've been dealing with for a long time. And I think the cannibalism can be easily thought of as a metaphor for addiction for someone who has dealt with drug addiction or any addiction like myself. I mean yes while it is also kind of tragic and horrific at times it all just comes together to form a beautiful love story. It's just hard to handle the things this movie handles by themselves as subject matter but this movie handles everything so flawlessly that it all feels authentic or natural.
This is the closest top 10 to mine I've seen. Except for place one where I would put TAR or RRR. EEAAO would be at the bottom of the list for me. Thanks for defending Babylon - what a movie!
Only three overlaps with my top 10 (Triangle of Sadness, Tar and Banshees, plus i've not seen Babylon) but I do appreciate the inclusion of Triangle of Sadness. It seems to have polarized US critics, not seeing it on a lot of lists and it was a fantastic film.
What about Megan? I thought it was going to be just another Chucky which wouldn't go too far, but instead, it exploded on the box ticket. (I did not see it yet).
Heey that's amazing we have the same top 3! I was convinced I'd love nothing more than EEAAO and then I went to see Tar which I actually lost a day to, because when I came out of the screening at about 3pm I could not stop thinking about it! I may be biased as a classical music nerd but I just found it utterly fascinating- then I watched Babylon which actually ended up being my favourite film of the year! Cannot agree more with what you said about it, I realised it would be polarising but the amount of terrible reviews confused me (thank god for Letterboxd haha I'm not alone on there) all I can say is all hail Justin Hurwitz, give him all the oscars please!!
Hello, Marianna, I always believe in giving credit, when credit is due. To that point, I don't know what sparked the change, but I haven't watched a video from this channel for many many months, and I am verrrrry happy to see -- or maybe I should say, hear -- that, at least in my opinion, the manner of speaking has noticeably improved to a point where I no longer find it annoying. So, Bravo and Kudos to you. I mean that most sincerely. And, as a result, I am now subscribing to this channel. Cheers!
TOP 10 FAVORITE MOVIES OF 2022: 1. Top Gun: Maverick 2. Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio 3. The Fablemans 4. The Northman 5. The Batman 6. Cha Cha Real Smooth 7. Avatar: The Way Of Water 8. Scream 5 9. Marcel The Shell With Shoes On 10. Sr.
EEAAO is simply one of the best all time. It has the look, the creativity and the heart all at once. Hope the older Oscar members can appreciate its weirdness.
Thanks for sharing you list Marianna!! You have to check out an spanish film called "The Beasts". A thriller, inspired by real events, which explores tension between local farmers and two outsiders in a small village.
What is that movie clip from at 0:22 seconds. There’s been this trailer I seen to a film that had very interesting weird concepts and visuals and was set to play on Netflix and then it just went ghost and unknown, and I haven’t been able to find it or think of the movie title. It was set to come out during the holiday of 2022. If anyone has any kind of Indication to what this movie is, swear you do not know what you just did for me. I hope this is that movie, but the trailer I saw had an older white guy at as the lead and I remember something with pianos and walking on water and dream sequences, I hope that jogs someone’s memory 😂
Yea, I missed Top Gun Maverick in theaters because I just don't care for Top Gun. I saw it and I just didn't get why people like it. Oh, you can enjoy it as much as you want but, I didn't and I choose not to go back. Elvis was my favorite film of the year. It was just unlike any biopic I ever saw and I hope Lurman gets the Oscar.
I'm a comic book fan and even I'm tired of superhero movies. I'm also especially tired of Batman because I think the character is overexposed. And yet inspite of all that... I LOVED The Batman! I saw it twice in theaters and bought the soundtrack on vinyl. Super excited to see what Matt Reeves will do with the sequel. (Although it had better include Robin.)
As others have mentioned, 2022 was a great year for film. While there'd be quite a few different movies on my list, I agree all of these (that I've seen) are at the very least good. I'll join the fight with you on Babylon. Incredible, if only for its ambition, though for so many other reasons too.

Aww thank you so much! Love FilmSpeak, of course))
So glad you gave All Quiet some love! That's my personal favorite of the year and a lot of the movies on here are on my top ten as well with the exception of Babylon... Still haven't seen it yet.
My favourite film wrap up thank you! Loved your no. 1!!!!
Great video and list and your analysis for each pick is excellent! Going to start working on my top 10 list now!
The lack of RRR in this list is very disturbing 🤭 !! Anyways, great top 10 Marianna
I get why people love Babylon, but the main thing I disliked about it was the comedy. It kind of felt like a 3 hour Key and Peele sketch. I still can’t wait to see what Chazelle does next, I just hope he does something a lot less cartoonish
Great list😊!!! Here’s mine
10. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
9. The Whale
8. Marcel the Shell with Shoes On
7. The Batman
6. X
5. Aftersun
4. Bones and All
3. The Northman
2. Avatar The Way of Water
1. Everything Everywhere all at Once
HM
Men
The Banshees of Inisherin
Nope
Glass Onion
Babylon
Petite Maman
The Black Phone
Guilty pleasure
Bullet Train
Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe
Aqua Teen Forever Plantasm
Everything Everywhere All At Once is amazing! Unfortunately, Banshees and Tar haven't been released in Brazil yet, but I really wanna watch those.
Couldn’t agree more ❤ and thank you because I watched many of this list after seeing your reviews and I literally thanked you in my mind while watching 😅
Love your taste 👍🏼
Nice list. Babylon is one of the best movies ever made. Funny, moving, smart , beautiful, unforgettable.
My top 3 are: Pearl, Avatar: Way of Water, The Batman. You’ve convinced me to check out All Quiet on the Western Front!
EEAAO is the best
Though my list is quite different then yours, I want to share mine and say your list is amazing. My list is a bit blockbuster-y but here it is:
10. Violent Night (I just love the Fight Choreography, the love letter to Home Alone and the comedy cause Action Comedies might be my favorite genre)
9. Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (such a sweet love letter to fashion and the 50's)
8. Barbarian (I loved my theater experience so so much my personal favorite Horror movie of the year)
7. Black Panther Wakanda Forever (Just an amazing Marvel product and movie)
6. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (action comedy that I felt was also somehow a heartfelt family story)
5. Devotion (I absolutely loved this movie, it doesn't have the highest rewatchablity, but it is such a powerful story)
4. Bullet Train (on the other side, super rewatchable fun fun ride)
3. Babylon (The last movie of the year which is likely a shame cause if I’d watched it this year it might have been the top for this year cause I believe it is that good. I really wish I’d been able to see it more then twice in the theater)
2. Top Gun Maverick (no need to say anything here)
My favorite movies of 2022
1.Top Gun Maverick it suprisied the hell out of me
2.Terrifer 2
3.Prey for the devil
4.Scream
5 . Smile
Nice list. Top Gun is truly the best movie.
Thanks for a great wrap-up of 2022. Found your channel this year, and looking forward to experiencing 2023 cinema with your vids.
Thank you! Onward to more great films!

RRR was snubbed. It was my favorite movie. No nomination for International or Best Picture
... I am going to have to rewatch the Batman. Everyone has it in their top 10 but I barely remember it.
Absolutely with you on 'Babylon' (also 'Tar')!!!
Thank you so much, Zack! Definitely check out "All Quiet on the Western Front" - it's a tough one to watch, but very well-made and important.
Great list! I unfortunately didn't see Top Gun in theaters and still haven't seen it!
Thank you for loving Babylon!!! An instant top 10 overall movie for me, and everything everywhere all at once may be the best movie I’ve ever seen! But I am SHOCKED the menu didn’t even rank!!
There is so much thematic crossover between "Triangle of Sadness" and "The Menu", and IMO "Triangle of Sadness" does it better
@@ImpressionBlend thank you
@@ImpressionBlend i don't understand why people hate this movie
@@samuelblachon95130 Hate which movie? I haven’t heard anything negative about either.
"To Leslie" is at or near the top of my list and I have not hear anybody talking about it. The performance by Andrea Riseborough was amazing and should bring her an oscar....
Hi Marianna! Did you watch Aftersun? That movie absolutely destroyed me. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that movie. :)
I recently watched Bodies Bodies Bodies and I absolutely loved it. It is an excellent dark comedy. Easily the most surprising movie of 2022 for me.
The first movie I walked out on in several years.
"Bodies Bodies Bodies" was a ton of fun!
Great choice for #1. Googly eyes over bagels.
2022 was a banger of a year 🤘🤘
Nice picks! Thanks for watching ))
My Top 10 Best (Favorite) Movies of 2022:
10. NOPE
9. Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood
8. Death on the Nile
7. Belle*
6. A Christmas Story Christmas
5. Everything Everywhere All At Once
4. Pompo: The Cinéphile*
3. PREY
2. The Sea Beast
1. RRR
Babylon was my favorite, it was so haunting.
So far my fave year of the decade for movies 😌
I have a feeling 2023 is going to be even better!
Great choices, Marianna! 👌🏾
Great List Marianna.
My list is.
1. Everything Everywhere all at once.
2. Banshees of Inesherin.
3. Top gun maverick.
4. The Fablemans.
5. RRR.
6. The Northman.
7. Glass Onion.
8. TAR.
9. All Quiet on the Western Front
10. Elvis
After having the same movies as my favorite of all time for decades (the first 2 Godfathers, Graduate, Annie Hall, etc), I think "Everything Everywhere All At Once" has usurped them all as my favorite movie of all time. And I've only seen it once.
I've been waiting for this!!
Great list! You have a lot of movies I enjoyed, some I missed(Elvis and Babylon), one I disliked(Tar) and my now favorite movie (EEAAO)
everything you said about Babylon is true!!! i loved it so much and it upsets me to see all the hate it got
Babylon fans rise! Perfect movie.
Finally, finally, FINALLY someone who's not afraid to say that Babylon is a great movie!
I'll give some movies I liked last year but no order then I'll give my favorite of everything I saw.
Scream 5
pearl
x
Tar
Deadstream
(There's many more but I just can't think of everything right now)
My absolute favorite of 2022 is Bones and All.
I had been expecting this video.
Hello, Marianna,
I always believe in giving credit, when credit is due.
Cheers!
TOP 10 FAVORITE MOVIES OF 2022:
1. Top Gun: Maverick
2. Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio
3. The Fablemans
4. The Northman
5. The Batman
6. Cha Cha Real Smooth
7. Avatar: The Way Of Water
8. Scream 5
9. Marcel The Shell With Shoes On
10. Sr.
EEAAO is simply one of the best all time. It has the look, the creativity and the heart all at once. Hope the older Oscar members can appreciate its weirdness.
I hope so too
I could not get into EEAAO but I loved All Quiet on the Western Front and the Batman.
only the best for top 1 😭💘
I agree with the whole list lol. I did wish Babylon, was an hour shorter.
No way, I want to see that original 4 hour cut )))
Thanks for sharing you list Marianna!!
You have to check out an spanish film called "The Beasts". A thriller, inspired by real events, which explores tension between local farmers and two outsiders in a small village.
I'm glad you have horror films on you're list. Other top 10 lists I've seen from youtube don't even have a single one.👍👍
The clip is from “Decision to Leave”
Yea, I missed Top Gun Maverick in theaters because I just don't care for Top Gun. I saw it and I just didn't get why people like it. Oh, you can enjoy it as much as you want but, I didn't and I choose not to go back. Elvis was my favorite film of the year. It was just unlike any biopic I ever saw and I hope Lurman gets the Oscar.
best film reviewer !! :)
I think he said Robin was happening? Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure I read this somewhere.
@ImpressionBlend reeves has expressed interest in interviews but nothing has been officially confirmed to my knowledge. Fingers crossed!
As others have mentioned, 2022 was a great year for film. While there'd be quite a few different movies on my list, I agree all of these (that I've seen) are at the very least good.
I'll join the fight with you on Babylon. Incredible, if only for its ambition, though for so many other reasons too.
RRR🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very surprised The Menu didn't make your list. Seemed like a movie you'd love.
I just dont get All Quiet On the Western Front. I thought it was very slow and boring
Smart, informative, entertaining. Great video.
Thank you!
