    Luck - you’ve either got it or you haven’t. Those of us in the know, those of us who’ve been around 4WDs for a bit know that Tritons make for seriously capable, completely under-rated 4WDs. Beneath the modern design lines of Tritons like this one, lies Mitubishi’s rally-bred drivetrains, which very rarely go wrong in a big way. They’re reliable, they’re decently economical for what they are and there’s a surprising amount of aftermarket support for the Triple Diamond utes.

    3.2l triton are great, diff lock the front with the rear lsd it goes. Apart from the egr which happens to most Diesel engines it's a serious 4x4 for the dollar.

    I have a 2012 Triton 3.2l L200 4x4, has a 3" lift kit, running MT 33s all round, Ive owned the Nissan and Hilux. But this Triton i enjoy the best of all, its a whole different league when it comes to heavy load hauling. My old faithful handles our harsh South African climates and the roughest of terrains with ease. Shes one tough engine, pushing on 478000km with regular service, and till date ive had no major/minor engine issues.

    2.5 4D56 turbo Diesel engine has a common over heating issue due to manufacturing defect. Mitsubishi didn’t recall all the triton and check and replace the engine block with the issue. What they did is a campaign to “cover it up” and delay the showing of the problem. I bought a 2nd hand mn triton(10yr old). And unluckily after 4 month the engine start over heating. I have an old 2005 triton Ute with 4g64 engine. Bought it at 10 year old with 150k on the clock. Now it is about 320k and 17 years old. It never missed a beat and other than normal wear and tear the engine is so reliable and that is why I trusted Mitsubishi and bought the mn triton. But it seems to me, Mitsubishi was doing the same thing as what takata air bag did by covering up the issue instead of correcting them properly. So if you are thinking of buying a second hand triton with 4d56 engine, be careful.

      What year models of the mn did this affect?? Im buying a 2012 mn triton that’s been taken care of really well. Should I be concerned?

    • @aaronbozhang
      @aaronbozhang Рік тому

      @@sebastianvanderspuy6745 my one turns out to be OK. It turn out to be the main negative not bolted on the car’s frame. There was a campaign regarding the engine block issue by Mitsubishi. If it is a bad one probably it has already been fixed up until now. But do give it a good check before you buy. Test drive the car for a decent amount of time and distance after the car reaches operating temp. Check the radiator cap see if it is 127kpa and ask the seller to see if he knows the issue and the history of the car. Also when you test drive the car use a ODB2 checker if you have one to check the cars operation and to see if there was any existing fault code.

    • @aaronbozhang
      @aaronbozhang Рік тому

      @@sebastianvanderspuy6745 have a look at engine bay if the battery is not the original one and it is very likely not the Mitsubishi genuine battery check if the negative cable is bolted onto the car frame correctly. My one was not because the new battery was higher which makes the cable too short and the guy who did the battery replacement job just too lazy to do it correctly by bolting it back to the car frame. And this will affect the car’s temperature gauge and make it seems to be overheating.

    • @aaronbozhang
      @aaronbozhang Рік тому

      @@sebastianvanderspuy6745 My one was a MN triton GLXR manual. And when I bought it the hand break indicator on the gauge is not working most of times. And I checked online with Mitsubishi Motor Australia limited and found there is a recall regarding some electrical connection issue. And I booked a service for that. After the recall service which is free, the hand break indicator works OK. So if you get the car’s chassis number/engine number, check with MMAL to see if there is any recall. If there is get the recall service (free) done.

      I've had a lightly modified MN GLXR for a few years now and you get what you pay for. Bang for buck they are great, but if I was going to spend mega bucks on tricking up a pony I would start with a different platform for sure. On the other hand it's nice to see something that isn't just another Toyota or Nissan.

    What puts me off the offroading mob are these 1) if I have to spend $30000 extra on a vehicle that means we are saying the vehicle manufacturers should sell a chassis because all their money is spent on purely useless crap because a 4wd is nothing but a daily commuting vehicle - according to the offroaders a 4wd means nothing unless you decorate with myriads of hugely expensive after market stuff 2) anyone who can spend this sort of money is either without a family or a tradie/self employed where taxable income declared to the ATO shows negligible income and yet somehow the genie finds a hidden stash to spend at will on a vehicle that depreciates in value and must have to be sold 3) general bikie type lifestyle- beer fest and condoning alcohol - oh yes the most socially acceptable drug 4) those who really care about the environment and those who don't are roughly 50:50 - it's like a crocodile eats six months of the year who'll find out when it ate last. Thank goodness for a couple of words - when you can't stand any counter views in a democracy I can hear someone already yelling their fav phrasethat covers everything- FO!

      I don't like them so much around parking lots where it obstruct the view when I try to get out with my car, but it is a pretty sight to see in the ocean of boring point A-B cars.
