#DoctorWho #Regeneration - Фільми й анімація
The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang, one of my absolute favourite finales. Love to see a review of those episodes.
Oh 😲 I didn't realise that you guys had 2 episodes out this week I missed this one somehow?🤔 Would agree that this was the best of the New Who regenerations but at the time in 2005 I just remember thinking its a great show but its not Doctor Who for me, I've changed my mind since and I do appreciate it more now but back when it was transmitted I felt disappointed overall that the series itself didn't feel like Classic Doctor who . Saying that I did go to the Brighton exhibition that year and took pics with all the monsters and costumes etc so I must have liked it a good bit ,but I guess I was just happy it was back on our screens so that in itself had to be celebrated 🥳🥳🥳
Cannot speak highly enough of this story. Eccleston’s regeneration is yet to be beaten! Just phenomenal stuff.
This is my favourite ever Doctor Who story so hearing you two gush over it made me very happy! Thank you
I really love that while Matt and Billy have different opinions regarding Doctor Who (for example the Moffat and Chibnall eras), they truly respect each other’s opinions. More conversations between others should be as civil as this. David Tennant is my favorite Doctor, and I really enjoyed Power of the Doctor, so I see myself disagreeing with them as well, but I can respectfully see their point of view. Great episode as per usual guys!
This ROD is up there with the Sontaran 2 parter video you guys did where you interspliced your reactions and comments to it as you were watching. That format was so much fun.
I think while Murray Gold might not have the original tapes or audio files for his music for Series 1, I think the music does still exist. Because the BBC I think keep the music for 5:1 audio features & other audio reasons (the BBC were keeping the music for McCoy’s eras as that’s how some of that eras music still exist today) and also MArk Ayres has said that he was given these music files/tapes for The 50th Anniversary Soundtrack Collection to use for Disk 9 (The 9th Doctor’s disk) & he had made new suites & tracks that were going to released exclusively on that collection (proper Series 1 music) but Murray Gold vetoed it before the final track listing was finalised. So instead, a rushed track listing for Disk 9 was made up with all tracks from the Series 1 & 2 re-recorded soundtrack and a bunch of bonus tracks to fill out the rest of space on the disk.
So yeah, I’m pretty sure Series 1 & any music from any future series does still exist and Murray might have just said otherwise because he doesn’t want to release it because he views it as poorer quality
Tbf I'd like to see all the finales reviewed, because I think series 4 just from a scale perspective is excellent.
S4 is one of my favourites purely because I remember how big it was in my day to day life. Everyone was talking about it and I truly miss that.
I think Get Back shows all the Beatles fairly. And I think the point of Get Back was to show the tension was not as bad as people hyped up,
hahah curious what broke matt and the end! i would say the impossible planet / satan's pit and human nature / family of blood or have they been done?
It was a bit too rude for the UA-cams!
@@batmanmarch Hey, have you ever thought of making a Review Of Death on Doctor Who games?
Everyone knew that the Daleks were coming back - they were in the trailer at the end of Boomtown 😎
The flare look comes from the Pro-mist filter that cinematographer Ernie Vincze used on the cameras (it's used on all series one episodes apart from The Long Game).
Primeval was dead behind the eyes.
Thank you for that info! 😍
Love love love this story. Absolutely the best finale of nuwho still imo. Also always fun hearing your childhood tales.
A Christmas Carol or Voyage of the Damned for Christmas.
Other episodes I'd like to see reviewed:
- Father's Day
- The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit
- Human Nature / Family of Blood
- Midnight
- The Waters of Mars
- Amy's Choice
- The Girl Who Waited
this was some proper good chat! maybe my fav thing uz have done, idk, memory is hard, but it was quality
I love the Sletheen episodes. Apart from the farting they`re pretty damn good. Especially Boom town. Just the gang having fun hanging out and than ah damn back to seriousness just when we had fun.
Great finale for the 9th Doctor. I remember before the episode aired, a friend of mine had a theory Jack was in league with the Daleks and he would become the emperor. Im glad he was wrong
Since you mentioned it at the end, I think it'd be pretty interesting to review the Series 10 finale again at some point since I presume neither of you have rewatched it since 2017 (Apologies if I presume wrong!).
I suspect it'd be a similar episode to this with non stop praise, IMO it's the only finale that I think tops Parting of the Ways.
Won't lie as someone who loves the Capaldi era, I'd feel a sense of vindication if Billy came out of it loving it.
Have you guys done The Doctor's Wife yet? I'd love to hear you talk about that. It's a favourite and love to hear your thoughts on Neil Gaiman, his other work, and your thoughts on whether you'd like him to do more who in future.
You guys predicted David's first lines perfectly haha
I totally match Billy's description - liked doctor who at 5-6 years old with Chris until around Matt Smith's first season at 12
I really liked Series 3 as well. Recently watched Torchwood for the first time and it really put me back in that era around the same time.
I don't think RTD has written a greater Doctor Who story (so far anyway) than this 2 parter and is still the best series finale of the new series I don't think I can add much more gushing than you both said about it.
Big thumbs up to more NuWho stories. Incidentally I rewatched that S3 three parter with some family recently (out of the blue - watching old Doctor Who with them is a very rare occurrence) and those episodes are far better than I remember, so a ROD on those would be fun!
Great podcast as usual! Curious as to what killed Matt off at the end... Would absolutely love to see you have a look back at World Enough and Time and The Doctor Falls in an upcoming episode, WEAT is easily one of the strongest NuWho stories, (although this is coming from a big Spare Parts and Capaldi fan)
This story got me into doctor who. Its by far my favourite story, ive re watched it so many times. One of the very few episodes where the daleks won the battle
"The power of the time vortex leaves him via goatse" :O
I’d like to suggest the impossible planet / the Satan pit for a review at some point , easily series 2’s strongest story IMO
Great review as always. Would love you guys to review Aliens of London/World War Three or The impossible planet/The satan pit and maybe the runaway bride for the Christmas special this year
There's a possibility that you guys are thinking of the Children In Need minisode, which does indeed cap off with, "The Doctor Will Return In The Christmas Invasion." Not sure, as I wasn't watching Parting of the Ways on initial broadcast, but that's my hunch.
I know Primeval is dead and forgotten now but I remember it was really big at the time, kids on the playground talked just as much about Primeval as they did Doctor Who.
Great review guys! I think you guys should review the 3 part season 3 finales and maybe at a later date Dalek!
Boom Town's next time trailer had the Daleks in it!
I recall reading something about David's change for The Doctor rather than Doctor Who to be connected with the fact that Davison was the first Doctor to have that credit .
Agreed though, it's kinda fun having the credit be as Doctor Who rather than the Doctor
The Impossible Planet/ Satan Pit. Probably my favourite story
It leaked the Saturday after Rose that Chris was leaving. Tennant was pretty much being touted even then. Mad
I think I read that Davison also suggested the credits read "the Doctor" as opposed to "Doctor Who"
I didn't really pay attention to the credits when I watched the Davison run, though.
I’d love to see you guys review Amy’s choice or the girl who waited
I'm around the same age as Matthew, also brought up on the VHSs and repeats during the Wilderness Years, and I feel like people in this position are allowed to have have two "My Doctor"s. The one we loved before the show came back on (for me that's Sylv), and Chris. They both hold distinct but equal places in my heart(s)
Hands down best episode of doctor who ever!!
This was a great series, my best mate used to rave about it more than me but then never went back after the regeneration.
Roll on RTD2.
My theory is the Doctor is more vulnerable to the vortex energy because he is a "time sensitive", to quote Warriors' Gate. Whereas humans are too basic, so can withstand it for longer.
I think an interesting episode that could be a great review is Death of the Doctor from the Sarah Jane Adventures, that has the 11th Doctor with Sarah Jane and Jo Grant. Its also written by RTD so seeing what you both think of Russell writing for Matt Smith would be fun to see
Surely you have to review Human Nature/Family Blood! So good
I enjoy this 2 parter dalek story
You accurately predicted 14th Doctor’s first lines🎉🎉
silence in the library, Forest of the dead
No idea why but I find the bit where Trinny and Susannah turn on Jack one of the scariest and darkest moments in Doctor Who.
Don’t understand the people that start watching NuWho and doesn’t watch the 9th Doctor. Eccleston was fantastic. Rose, Dalek, Father's Day, The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances, Bad Wolf & The Parting of the Ways are still some of my favourite episodes. Excellent TV. I hope RTD brings DW back to this or as close as…
Worst part was when Eccleston snogged hi gf. Best part is that he copped it moments later. RTD/Nu-hu peaked early. Series 1 was nothing special, but Dalek is the best old-monster-return episode they ever did, Empty Child was the best two-parter they ever did & the series 1 finale is the best finale they ever did. They should have just stopped there.
What really bothered me when I first watched this, was Tennant regenerating with hair gel.
Still the best finale of new Doctor Who ever.
Yes! I love the slightly eurotrash vibe of Murray's s1 music
From the new series you could review Rose - and compare it to Spearhead, as both feature Autons, both 1st episodes for a new Doctor, and both 1st episodes for a new era (colour and 2005)
A story I want you to cover would be The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit
I think I'd like to see a review of Impossible planet / satan pit
I would love special based on the spin off that are unofficial like bbv and reeltime Pictures
The Beast Below!
Whoah whoah whoah, what is with this Mr. & Mrs. Smith slander?! 😂
The Doctors type is 19 year old blonds :) Yep that has aged very well :D
Review of. Podcast 38. Doctor. Who. Bad. Wolf. The parti
10 seconds ago, 88 views…
Dang.
Choose Boom Town for your next review you cowards!
Bad Wolf: 40 minutes of promoting real life trash TV until the Daleks turn up.
Parting of the ways": interesting idea of religious Daleks but with predictable character beats.
Ultimately it's a hollow 90 minutes of TV, which is RTD's forte.
No wonder Disney likes him.
