When I got into cycling I came right off of playing basketball. I was in my late 20s early 30s
That's when I was my strongest. The repetitive jumping and sprint running that is required in basketball was perfect training for cycling. I was busting out 45 mph sprints on the flats.

@@HarryTzianakisTheGodOfSpeed even a regular athlete won't reach that high easily. This is an endurance sport. Things are different.

@@Clauds43 his FTP is high because he lost weight at the same time gaining fitness.
This is something that is not unheard of when it comes to someone losing so much weight while gaining fitness. To compensate the weight loss he needs to start working out with weights or he's going to plateau and go backwards.
He definitely has the mentality for endurance sports. Or there's no way he would be at the level he is

Yeah that's power to be proud of. There are world tour pros (maybe not the top, top sprinters) who might be proud of 17w/kg for 15s. According to WKO it's nearly in "exceptional" range --or one watt shy of "world class".

You are burning yourself out trying to hit a higher number to quick.
You need to gradually add speed as you go. Don't go over your threshold. Keep it at your threshold and it'll grow. All the sprint information you need is in my comment above

Im riding since 3 months just decides to do something for my health and body, im hiting sometimes 48 or 45 on flats, how is this possible ? Maybe you sprinting with the wrong gear or your chain ring is to small to hit higher kmh numbers

    • @ronm7114

@@KarmaMusik that was a half minute sprint actually which got me a second place on strava at my place. top end was 59 heavy tailwind. Nothin special, but certainly not bad. I havent sprinted much since. 48/45 are different speeds though and fairly easy for a decent rider with tail. However if u hit that for a mile windstill thats very good. Many cant sprint to 45 km/h windstill.

Very nice!! That was fun!! 💪👋
Great power! Wish i can show you how to sprint in person.
Here's some advice from the best.
Number one you're cadence is way too low for a sprint. To be in the 90s in your sprint is not a sprint.
A Sprint is when your cadence is at least at 130 cadence that would be the lowest.
When I hit a sprint it goes over 170.
You need to learn the gears and understand the potential each gear has at a high cadence.
You have way more power in you. I believe that you can hit 2000 plus watts if you listen to me.
You need to start holding 130 cadence for a minute. Start with 30 seconds and work your way up to a minute. And then increase the cadence in time. Keep the power around 1000 to 900 watts
You can practice on the trainer feeling out the gears and start understanding what gear you can handle at 130 plus cadence.
And you will see your sprint numbers climb tremendously and the effort is going to feel way less.
You will be able to repeat this much more than you would ever be able to repeat sprinting at the cadence and power you're at now.
It's only a matter of time you inevitably will understand what I'm saying because there's only one road to greatness.
I am a thousand percent sure that I have proved that no one knows better than me about cycling training.
My words from 20 something years ago have come true. When I was telling everybody my training is the future for cycling training. No one believed me and called me a trolling clown.
I was never trolling anybody and the only thing I ever did was try to make everyone better.
How can you hate someone like that?

    • @HarryTzianakisTheGodOfSpeed
      @HarryTzianakisTheGodOfSpeed Рік тому

Sprinting is all about the cadence cadence brings power in the sprint.
If you can only lift 100 lb. 3 times but you can lift 50 lb 20 times. The 20 times will create an accumulative number of power way higher than the hundred pounds can at three times.
      Dose that make sense?

      @@MarvinWestmaas hi 👋
My information has 30 years of experience and testing.
I am a pure athlete mentally when it comes to training. Physically I have pushed myself to the limits testing out many theories I had.
My laziness is what helped me create the training I've been using for the last 20 something years.
When I got into cycling there was no structure training which I found very odd.
Everyone would tell me that you just need to ride to get faster so you needed to put in a certain amount of mileage every week to gain a certain amount of fitness to be competitive.
In my mind this was not going to happen and I had picked a sport that I was not going to stay long in.
So I started to adapt more of the training I would use on track and other sports to give me fitness.
When I was doing structured training, people were calling me a troll..
They were laughing at me and telling me that I was on steroids.
Because the cycling world was brainwashed into thinking that base miles is the only training. These are facts I'm telling you. I don't know how old you are but these are the facts.
People would look at my Strava and make fun of me saying there is no way I have the fitness. I have only doing what I do which is 10 20 30 minute intervals.
So my sprinting training is very similar.
I was in my 30s and I was easily hidden 45 mph.
I mean I don't even train hard now and I can hit 37 or 38 mph. I could do this on the trainer which is even harder.
I'm not a young buck anymore and can still hold 1 minute 1,000 watt intervals.
When I was in my 30s that felt like nothing
