Once and again i say.... This song is a masterpiece... Crazy how David Gilmour alone wrote every bit of it's music.... I never gonna understand how someone can write a piece like that.
Like all Magicians, it's magic.

He is a creative....Picean...has drawn talent from his musical abilities...born...with a gift...

Gábor Bűdi well . there is no argument how great he is, and I agree with your ranking system. However I could add no. 8 to Paco De Lucia. His style is impossible to catch . it took me 3 months to master the solo of comfortably numb , and six months to master the quarter of Paco De Lucia's Antonia, which is one of his easiest .
I do not agree. Paco came from other solarsystem. He's an alien... :-)
Agree with you
To be fair, the solo in Comfortably Numb is one of the less complex solos in David's repertoire.
8. Jimmy Page
I was adopted at birth, and for the very first time in my life, I actually feel a little bit of pride for being named David, and all because of Mr Gilmour, a true genius of his craft. And it's not just his music either. How many others musicians have donated many of their prized guitars for a worthy cause, the very same guitars used to make his brilliance shine for and be known by the masses? My humble "thank you, Sir" seems so insignificant for what I (and humanity) have received from Mr Gilmour.
🌟❣️
The older I get🍂..These notes become more Meaningful & Hit Harder... Right through My Heart, Mind & S❤️🔥ul... Pink Floyd Will Forever Be an EPIC Experience❣️🙏
'So David, what are you going to play tonight?' 'Well, not much really....... I thought I'd start with the most soulful and passionate slide guitar solo ever committed to any form of recording, followed by a little acoustic noodling that'll make you believe the Angel Gabriel himself is inside my acoustic guitar....is that OK with for you?'
Superbe !!!!!!!!!!!
Yessss
Jaja te mamaste compa 😂👌
Ha ha ha, so oooo spot on! :)
its good enough!!! thanx
David Gilmour is the coolest person alive at this point of time. Period.
I won't argue that.
Cooler than Dolomite?
My god how have I gotten so old? To look into the eyes of the man that inspired me when I was young, the music of my whole life, and to hear his voice and still feel evey second of my youth, as I sit here with my guitar in hand, my grey hair, sagged eyes, and wish to God I was still a youth.
If any civilization was to ever find this rock eons from now, this is what they should know of us....that a man, could single-handedly bring such joy, sadness, inspiration and peace through his art, through his touch, through a voice and inspire. He is, and always will be, my inspiration. Thank you David, thank you Pink Floyd. I am a guitar player, for over 40 years, all because of you.....
wow
Blaydrnnnr - it comes to all of us brother! Dark side of the moon was the first album I ever bought as a 12yr old in 1973. I’ve had that and the wall in every possible format since. Never ever tire of listening to music that defies the ages. My 30 year old son is a fan having been brought up listening to it. That’s how great music lives on through generations. PS...... re the wrinkles, olive oil twice a day helps! 😜
LOL....too late on the olive oil.....got any tricks to get my hand to play the licks I used to when I was 22??
Blaydrnnnr - what can I say? More hand exercises??..
Well said my friend, you took the words out of my mouth.
Two quick thoughts... One, I wonder if Mr. Gilmour has any idea of how sincerely loved and deeply revered he is by millions upon millions of us around this planet. Two, in viewing the full concert, special honor and credit must go out to everyone involved on the production side of this event, especially the lighting and sound people, from the Lighting Director and designers down to the riggers and stagehands. The understandable restrictions they must have had to work under in one of the world's most historic venues must have been beyond belief. BRAVO, a STUNNING achievement...
edfou5 im sure David knows he has to
@edfou5 hear hear
I sure he does....realise 😊
This song makes me feel sad. But a good sad. A nessisary sad. Epic song
Aahh u described my word!
Same for me....every time....
This song echoes from an era of poetry through sound to convey feeling, you don't even need words you can feel it in the sound.
This song makes me think about the years past by and things that we've lost.. the friendships etc..
" A necessary sad." -"Indeed"!
This song sends chills through my whole body and I have never felt so good. David Gilmor is I think the greatest musical treasure on this planet. May you live a long life for we who live music never want you to leave us. A turkey special person.❤️❤️❤️
Long life to Gilmour... One of the most talented guitarist of all time
julio mazariegos the most. Unmatchable.
Please Gilmour never die !!!!!!!!!!!!
In our ball..
julio mazariegos Yes but not great singer though
Jai Chhabra Don’t mind the bias from my username but hardly any rockstars that still perform in their 70s keep their voice the way Gilmour has, so I’d say hats off to him
David Gilmour was 70 when he performed at this concert in Pompeii. It sounds crazy and unbelievable!!!
I hope i have a chance to see him and listen to his notes coming from his guitar as live.
Long life Gilmour!! You and the musicians like you are the gifts from God to the world...
David is god himself. The only god that exists..
I cry everytime I listen to the classical guitar solo at the end. Nothing can describe the feelings it evokes in me. If eternity had words, that would be its sound.
yes, me too
I can't even last til the classical guitar solo before I cry man
now do you get were scientist come from about string theory and vibrations everything vibrates there could be another earth in the same space as us but slightly diff vibrations so to us its not there what do you think.
Cry
YES
when David plays acoustic for a last minute feels like heaven 😢
One of my favorite songs...love it when he switches to slide guitar and back to acoustic a beautiful mix from the Master himself.
Yeah..You opinion cent % right..I ode you mam..!
It has to be the best solo I’ve ever listened to.
One of my fav..s God hope I get to see him live before I say goodbye to this planet that gave me everything.........Endless river...
Those last 2 minutes make this the best version of high hopes.
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever
this song helped me through depression!! The grass is greener , and theres always hope 🙏
this solo is so underrated.

Best solo ever
next rhyme i write Nothing without barret or roger Sadly lost its spike.. David aint a singer.
He is. And he still developes his singing actually. Just watch the live at pompeii bd. Theres many well sung parts there. Specially on the new songs.
how is the solo underrated if the song is best known for the solo? I always see comments saying things Pink Floyd did (vocals, solos, etc..) are underrated. Pink Floyd is a damn legend, they sold millions and millions of records and people are praising them as gods on every occasion. They are known around the world and will be known in 100 years. I love seeing other people complimenting them, I love them aswell. But this is just fishing for likes
Me: David, how long and emotional you want the solo to be?
David Gilmour: Yes
'Forever and Ever'
my god this Pompie concert is the best thing that happpend. lucky are those who witnessed. However, lucky are we to live under such music.
since AD 79

The most Musicans put the Guitar into the Amp. Davis put it into your Soul.
Perfectly said
I think this song represents the very best of Pink Floyd. The steel guitar solo in this version is, in my mind, one of the best live rock solos of all time. The feeling and vibe coming from David is truly inspiring. I saw them live in 1973, in Vancouver, for the Dark Side of the Moon tour. It was also very amazing. I have been playing guitar and writing music for 45 years and it is music like this that keeps me wanting to continue to play. Thanks so much, David Gilmour.
hey, dont forget about Comfortambly numb solo...Its also very soulful solo, BUT i agree with everything you said
Beautiful words.
I agree almost beyond emotion - BUT - very small but - the Gdansk live version is the top of the top...dunno why..but the slide guitar and acoustic ending just blend so beatifully..at just a hair's quicker tempo..getting too fine I know ;-0
@@tyost001 I think that the pulse version, Gdansk version and the Pimpei version brings... And of course studio version... All of them always brings something different and i really dont know how to explain it, the solo is always telling the different story...
Listen to Knopfler's solo in Sultans of swing bro
The most soulful steel guitar solo ever. No one takes your soul like David Gilmour do it
One of the most underrated song in rock history
The album was sold over 12mio times...nothing is underrated about anything Pink Floyd did not even after Waters had left.
@TheIceBreaker90 This band is one of top record seller EVER, I agree, nothing is underrated here

This song takes me somewhere that I could never understand
Words can’t explain the beauty of there music

TheSKINNMAN ...what a simple, beautiful and profound definition of Pink Floyd music.....
Mr Gilmour reminds me that I have a soul. I think I should be grateful for that.
I am 65 years old and I will Rock till I drop. I lived thru some great times when it came to music. Sir David Gilmour made Pink Floyd into the best group of all time. I will have comfortably numb played at my funeral.
....... It’s beautiful as the first improbable encounter of an umbrella and sewing machine on a dissecting table !
echoes for me
But he's not a "Sir"!!!😫😫 Why does everyone keep saying that?!?
It's a toss up with High hopes, the whole 43. Minutes of the Dark side of the Moon, and a recent tune off The Endless River album Anisina.
Turkish for in remembrance.
This will play at my funeral/ cremation. The last two versus say it all about life really I.E. it's the experience and journey not the achievement and totally suit that mood of a departure.
5:30 That's How God would sit down and mold the universe into existence.
There's people that should be imortal... David Gilmour is one of them... Saddest thing is that i probably will never see him live... Please do another tour! :(
God please keep David alive forever and in good health. We are so blessed to witness his greatness. God bless you, David Gilmore. ♥
David Gilmour is such a gift to the planet, a respite from the darkness of our current world.
Such timeless talent, insight and beauty,,in my eyes the best band ever ! Your Are Rock !! Pink Floyd
not pink floyd, DAVID GILMOUR
Gilmour is a rock God....Floyd Head til I'm dead!
marie demastes Nothing without barret or roger Sadly lost its spike
Rogers timing is natural n so hitting cant say the same about Gllmore .Doesnt need a drink a natural high.Plays well Cant sing though
Jai Chhabra and of course the lovely Richard Wright
I swear every person listens to this solo feel like David Gilmour plays it on his heart, eternal solo
I can hear that guitar solo 15 times in a row, and it gives me goosebumps every single time! It's so perfect! I prefere the live version because it's longer, with that sexy choir in the back and that acoustic outro is just fantastic!
know what you mean and feel bro get the same tinggles
stian H. Fossen this version deviates from album version significantly
There’s nothing quite like the sight and sound of an aging David Gilmore, STILL displaying such incredible competence. And, yet, he makes these complex chords seems so EASY.
This song always makes me cry...
volvo1981 gives the sense of nostalgia.
I do not know why did but. Yes I cried to solo and it made me fall in guitar love with Gilmour.
It brings tears to my eyes also
This is one of the most important song to this bands legacy. Its the story book ending to the greatest band our generation has ever known
I can only hope he knows how many people FEEL his music as he plays it. He is the consummate artist.
I love that he *played this. It's my favourite Pink Floyd song. I know, I know, Comfortably Numb, Have a Cigar, Shine on you Crazy Diamond, Another Brick in the Wall yeah, I hear you, but I remember where I was when I first heard this song on the radio, and it was electric for me. It gave me frisson like I rarely get. It's the moment when I said to myself, "Hey, these Pink Floyd guys might not only be for old people." It's a masterclass in delayed gratification. The first 4:30 or so of the song is all building to the most powerful emotional finish to a song you'll ever hear. I hope you all had the same joy I did when I first discovered Pink Floyd. I hope you remember it as clearly as me, and I hope it gives you frisson whenever you think about it. What a time to be alive.
Doesn’t get any better than this!
Try Echoes from Gdansk live. This was good, but that was performance from another world.
Only discovered this masterpiece..recently...can't stop playing....over and ..over..
After all these years the man still plays with such passion as in the beginning.... what a gift we have in David Gilmour!
This concert will go down in legend, forever.
I'm sure he did that bit on the slide guitar to make it almost impossible to cover haha.
The drummer even knows it, look at his smile 😂
Oh man, the last solo gave me tears!
David Gilmore does not just play music-he is music
Once upon a time...it was called MUSIC...
I'd give David Gilmour the knighthood simply for that last solo. Man! What a legend!
The more i listen the more i love the song
An elegy for a historical era😢
What a Master!!!!! Nobody I see today that even caste a shadow over this mans toe!!
Gilmour you made my eyes wet
Cause, I know you're the greatest!
You're immortal in High Hopes! 🙏
By far one of my top 10 favorite Pink Floyd songs and Gilmour is nothing short of amazing.
I guess only David Gilmour can turn a amazing song into phenomenal. Just that last acoustic guitar solo changes the dimensions of the whole song. What an artist. A genius.
absolutely mind blowing, this gives me shivers every time I hear it, what a concert, David you are the most talented musician in the world, thankyou
This song helped me a lot during the breakdowns
Absolute masterpiece, not just because of Gilmour but everyone present up there.
David can make a lifeless object cry to shreds. Absolutely brilliant
The greatest progressive rock composition of all time and the greatest steel guitar solo, ever...
I'm not sure why, but for the first time in my life, I'm actually kind of proud to have been named David (by the woman who adopted me at birth). Thank you, Mr Gilmour, for your epic brilliance in song, and my new pride.
There ought to be a love button on UA-cam. 'Like' just cannot describe art like this.
Fantastic. This song is a dream. Dávid is multitalent.
David, we are united by your music. There are no divisions here...
Mr Gilmour,Thank you.
It's another masterpiece !!!
At 5:59 the Drummer and Bassist look at each other and smile, knowing that they are part of something special in time. just a cool moment.
One of the top 3 favorite songs of my life!! Absolutely pure and emotional..artwork of geniuses. True music..Thanks to PF and to David for continuing!!
This song is playing at my funeral....no question....
That taste was so sweet..I reached those hights and more.....and nights of wonder...forever and ever... no division now.....
Gotta love how David switches back and forth between his classical and his steel guitar, now that's some pure unadulterated virtuoso @ work ! Love that little improv at the end as well. For someone who grew up as a Floyd fan, this is as close to perfection as it will ever get. The combination of this incredible setting and Gilmour's timeless, atmospheric, dreamlike musical wizardry makes for a unique viewing experience. May you live many more years to mesmerize us with your sheer unadulterated talent Sir Gilmour ! Long live Pink Floyd !
Every time over and over again, goosbumps while listening to te most beautifull outro. To play with this kind of emotions with the strings of a guitar, belongs in a museum. Pure art.
The solo is just unbelievable
High Hopes, a musica da minha vida!
Sem palavras pra essa versão na Pompeia, incrível!
Hello, we are Pink Floyd and we are send by the Gods with a mission to give people goosebumps and lead them to a heavenly dimension!
Thank you so much for existing, Mr. Gilmour! Lots of love from Albania
We're lucky that this footage exists in HD.
I absolutely LOVE everything he does, but this song is one of my top 10 favorites!
There are no words that you can speak , after a performance like this .
LARGA VIDA A DAVID.. LARGA VIDA A LA MÚSICA..LARGA VIDA AL ROCK...!!!!!
I had already purchased The Division Bell CD in 1995 when I was sent on a business trip to Denver, CO. The car I rented had a cassette tape player, so I bought a cassette tape of The Division Bell and played it over and over for the whole week on that trip. After the 4 day class, I had three days to explore the Rockies and this music made it even more fascinating, enjoyable and memorable. I drove from Denver to Leadville (10,000 ft) and then over Independence Pass (12,000 ft) to Aspen (8,000 ft) and then back to Denver via the Royal Gorge Bridge, Pueblo and Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak was set against the dimming light as I drove past it on I-25.
The music combines the drama and the beauty of high hopes.....:)
Every time I watch or listen to this legend it’s the same reaction, speechless what a talent unreal just a different breed 🙏
God bless you David. The part of The world that apreciate good Music loves you.
David Gilmour 🖤🙏
I mean since I started playing, my appreciation for David's overall musical talent blows my mind. Playing guitar with such tactile and intense prose, and singing with equal feeling. Don't try that at home.
Thank you for making me feel ✨🔥
O solo mais bonito que existe é o solo dessa música, simplesmente perfeito, magnífico!!! 👏❤
Simplesmente Esplêndido
@@sandrocardoso8064 Avassalador!!! Essa é a definição desse solo, deste tema!!! David, O CARA!!!!
This guy is seriously going into the history books as one of the greatest ever....back then they had Mozart, etc. Now, well, the musical gods have blessed us dying with David. Thank you for all you have done.
He is my all time favorite, saw Pink Floyd and did not miss Roger at all
Yup. Post-Roger Floyd changed my life. A different me came home from that show.
+Benjamin Baldwin . it was positive or negative.
I have felt that way since the Momentary Lapse of Reason (Delicate Sound of Thunder) tour. Best concert I ever attended.
Masterclass David.... At 56 I'm going to cry like a baby when this great musician passes.... been loving Floyd since my teens....so much good music through the decades...with age like wine...it gets better.
The greatest song I ever heard.
No matter until when humanity exists, maybe millions of years from now, I imagine only one piece of rubble, a sound, a moving and melancholic echo emerging from an empty planet Earth travelling right towards outer space: David Gilmour's guitar and voice. Our legacy.
David Gilmour...forever and ever!🤘🏼
Ive seen many guitarists play live, but none of them come close to gilmour when it comes with playing with true feel and emotion. Call it art, feeling, anything. Its just so beautiful, you never want to let go of that.
Another outstanding masterpiece, Goosebumps all over the skin, no words needed, just listening...
You are the Miracle David......don’t go to the other side yet.....you are to precious......playing your Spanish Guitar.......you are the Brain behind it all......for ever and ever.....playing your bottle neck.......CONTINUE IF YOU CAN.......LOVE FROM MALLORCA.....I HOPE THIS MESSAGE REACHES YOU....👍👍👍👍
What an Amazing show and performer ! One of the best in the World.
He doesnt play guitar, he rules guitar.
When this concert will be seen in 100 years: "ok, we try to be like him".
GREAT
David Gilmore is a awesome musician
I do not understand how it is possible to dislike this song , thé final solo is so marvelous...
This is so beautiful...holding breath to the last second
God wish him well, what a song .....Gives me the meaning of life very time I feel down...God bless
