It has already been said but I want to say it again. You weren't lucky Gordon Lightfoot. We were the lucky ones to be living in your time. A voice like no other, you will endure through time and continue to touch the hearts of people forever. Thank you for giving us a great body of work!
Gordon Lightfoot has been my favorite since I used to listen to my him since the early 60s. His music inspired me to run away from home at age 16 as his Road Songs made me dream of a Romantic life on The Road. Fortunately my Dad got the Tucson Task Force to retrieve me. 😊. I used to go by myself to see his concerts at Universal Amphitheater when it was an outdoor theater and later indoor.
I could say the same. That song "If You Could Read My Mind, certainly mirrors how things went for me. I am 81 and admire how he can have the energy to get up on a stage and sing and put on a show at his age and do it so well. I love Gordon Lightfoot because he deserves to be loved. 💖
Good old CFOR! That was the radio station I heard his music 🎶 on in the '70's...I had forgotten the name of the station, until Mr Lightfoot said it without hesitation...his memory was better than mine (I was born in the '60s)...I can't always remember crap from last week...But I can remember song's on the radio 📻 especially in the '70's...Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray 🎶 the Guess Who....I always admired this guy and wished I could have met him...my heart goes out to his wife, and his family...😢 🙏
I first saw Gordon in a Four Together Concert in Detroit. Gordon, John Denver, Harry Chapin, and James Taylor. Just a fabulous concert and of the best artists. I saw Gordon probably in the early 80's at Gamage Auditorium in Tempe AZ. So very glad I was able to see him. Love all the music. Want to learn some songs on the guitar. Thanks Gordon, Love You, RIP. Thanks for this presentation.
I’m gutted by his death. From the first time that I heard him sing “If You Could Read My Mind” on the radio at age 13 until the present Gord’s music has been extremely important in my musical life. I can’t imagine life without him and his glorious compositions.
I've always loved him and I always will. I'll never forget what a delight it was to meet him, introduce myself and tell him how I came to know him. He seemed genuinely surprised by my polite boldness and he suggested I watch the PBS special on the Edmund Fitzgerald. Thank you, Mr. Lightfoot for all the years of beauty, poetry and music as only you could deliver. My life has been more enriched because of it.😇❤💥
Sweet as sugar! I met him: Such a lovely man…And a great finger picking guitar player..He is gorgeous and Blessings to him and his family: I think also kind of ( re: guitar playing:I see a bit of Lindsey in him or him in Lindsey re: technical..). I love him! Thanks for the music, Gordon…👍☮️😘🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for posting this interview! I met Gordon and sooo darn lovely and gracious and kind! Thanks, for music that is the fabric of my life..I am now 65! I know and get you! Xxoo
Watch a late in life film of him performing, at the end of any song while the crowd applauds you can see his eyes well up with tears! Incredible human.
I loved both Bing, and Gordon. Gordon is hands down, one of most talented Singer/songwriters, that was put upon Planet Earth. Your Loves Return , Is there anyone home, Somewhere USA, softly, Winters Night; all should have been released on singles. Those works of art, are hidden Gems . 💎
James Deeks did an excellent job interviewing this gentle man. Thanks for doing such as it will carry him beyond his years to know some of Gordon's thoughts on the questions you asked. From 80 miles or so north of Massey Hall, Happy New Year Canada Files, James et al!
To say a hearty ‘ HI’ just ain’t enough cause u’ve paved the way for the likes of me & so many that follow/ thank you for separating the wheat from the chaff and for choosing Canada 🇨🇦 to hang ure Hat & more. I love you G. Lightfoot!! Little david mtl / peace out
Proud to share a birthday with Gordon! A miser only one who thinks that he sounds a lot like Norm Macdonald here? Both rural Canadians, I suppose that makes sense.
Been listening to him since I was a little kid. Now 47 I confess he and willie nelson are on a short list of deserted island musicians for me. Would have enjoyed seeing him in concert in his hayday, heck even now I would.
Great! It will be quite educational and the capo.. etc! Darn! I played guitar since 8-9: now 64! I love this! Yes: he told me personally: that he had an aortic aneurism. He told me this: but I want to see him to tech me: some finger picking because I came into this world automatically doing this.. So? Great video! Thank you !
Yes, it sounds like Gordon was a childhood musical prodigy. He was born and driven to do what he did. He never moved from Canada because he realized how important family was to him…what an endearing man.
Made the tears roll down my face or hear that this wonderful legend had pàssed.. I love his music & always will. His music always took me to a Mello place in my mind..Thank God & Gordon for such beautiful music that has been left to us💜🎚️☮️🕊️😺 We will miss u Gordon L...😢..
Why did the host forget Leonard Cohen!!!!! A poet and genius who wrote like Gord some of the most stunningly "beautiful " - sorry for my banality- I'm up there too and not well - I bless musicians for helping the rest of us, Make It Through the Night- Namaste from Hamilton ( pray there's no war with Taiwan, Gord would...)
Wait... Drake is friends with my friends' kid across the street from my house since the Degrassi years... we're 2° degree of seperation lol. Did not know that til now
Interviewer talks too much and drags out his "questions" - which disrupted the interview. Guys like that need to ask one quick, simple question - and then shut up! This is about Gordon. Not some unknown interviewer. Look at me everyone! Look at me!!!! Screw that. And it's rude.
Y'know, it's one year later, and your comment still upsets me. You need to understand that CANADA FILES is a show about Canadians, for a predominantly American audience... many of whom wouldn't know the guest, or (in this case) much about him. So my questions needed to provide some sense of context and history for the viewers. I don't know how (or why) you would claim that I'm trying to hog the limelight. Fortunately, many other commenters have said it was a great interview, and I appreciate it.
82 years old here but his mind is still young and spry. Thanks for all the music you gave us Sir.
It has already been said but I want to say it again. You weren't lucky Gordon Lightfoot. We were the lucky ones to be living in your time. A voice like no other, you will endure through time and continue to touch the hearts of people forever. Thank you for giving us a great body of work!
Amen 🕊
He certainly is modest saying he got lucky with his hits. No, he’s a great artist.
Ah, now our Three Gords are together again...Downie, Pinsent, and the master troubadour Lightfoot.
Thank you for this heartfelt interview, Mr. Deeks.
"I really love my country". That's says it all. Thank you Gordon for all the wonderful music.
Great interview Gordon Lightfoot a very talented man rip my fellow Canadian u will be so missed 😔❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦
We have lost another treasure! His music will live on.😢
I love this man. Always have, always will. Hope you keep playing in Heaven, Gordon.

Some rather pointed questions; Gordon is sharp as a tack! Gordon's music has been the soundtrack of my life, especially in my thirties. I'm 75 now....

Canada is his home and beautiful. Why would anyone ever move away?
The world took a massive kick to the balls at his passing. But it’s far better he was here. Just a phenomenal musician, songwriter and person.
He was a great singer and very respectful of good people.
Genius, Gordon Lightfoot.
Goodbye Gord. You'll be missed by all Canadians of your era and countless other fans around the world. Thanks for all the great music.

The word legend is thrown about too much, but in this man’s cases it’s an accurate description !! Gord the Legend rules !
John Denver, Harry Chapin..etc! This was truly the generation of singer-songwriters! Yay!
Watch a late in life film of him performing, at the end of any song while the crowd applauds you can see his eyes well up with tears! Incredible human.
One of the greatest singer songwriters. Have loved his music for over 50 years.
Lovable guy. Saw him last night for the first time
It shows what a great person he is - he is digging hip hop. Sign of a real artist.

The interviewer cares more about Canada than talking to Gordon
What??!
He has become the ghost we cannot see. ☹️ RIP

I can't believe Gordon Lightfoot likes rap music. I personally can't stand it but to each his own.

Thanks for your comment. You'll be pleased to know I've retired. Jim Deeks
Mr. Deeks, you did a fine job.
