- The satirical puppet TV series 'Spitting Image' ruled the British airwaves in the 1980s by bringing to life vicious caricatures of public figures.
We caught up with Roger Law, half of the creative team behind the show, during a photoshoot for the Radio Times in the run up to Britain's recent general election.
The work of Spitting Image appeared in Tate Britain's exhibition of comic art, 'Rude Britannia', and in this film Roger shows off an original puppet of Margaret Thatcher, explains how the great British satirist James Gillray landed a cameo role in the show, and tells us why sending up politicians today is far less fun than it used to be.

0:20 Neil Kinnock LOL
They could never bring back Spitting Image, The lawyers control every output and play it too safely, As Roger Law says - there is no struggle or conflict in politics anymore - you could have a coalition of all three parties and not spot any difference between them these days.
Oof, just stumbled across this comment... simpler times eh?
DARN IT I MISSED IT! Anyway it was slightly cruel what he said about Thatcher's mental health... She can't help it.... Anyway I am so angry I missed it -:(
Oh Roger Law... you made me laugh AT a person with dementia... well done?
BRING BACK SPITTING IMAGE!!!!! Or is it too powerful for them?
Shed no tears for thatcher. Even if we ever get it we will never forget the damage caused by that right wing zealot of a woman
😂😂😂 Jesus Christ he made fun of a woman suffering from dementia though it’s a fairly popular opinion that Margaret took advantage of the poor and less fortunate to improve the country, kind of killing the chicken instead of collecting the eggs.
ik its late but... he made fun of her before the demtina was announced, the new series has two scenes with her back though although hes not a writer on that just a producer
