I remember the cold war, the Cuban misile crisis was the closest we got to armageden. That was in the 1960's though. You; may just be old enough to remember the significant point when cold war ended. In 1989 the Berlin wall fell - a fitting end to a glorious decade of change.

sure! although I had some trouble with those ones too, but I'll put up what I could make out
I remember a decade of change, loads of opportunities - but you had to get off your arse and find them. No good sitting in you home town saying "giz-a-job". In the 70's we were reduced to a 3 day week, power cuts, endless pointless strikes, trade unions drunk with their own power. I enjoyed the 80's. :-)

But was added to the movie with kevin kline and Linda Ronstadt when Fredreck has to tell Maybel he must return to the pirates.

I remember a decade of people with awful hairdos, bad suits and some great music. Fashion was slightly less appalling than during the 70s.
And of course those were the days of the Cold War which could turn hot at any moment it seemed. Fond memories of Reagan ordering the bombing of Libya and Thatcher giving full support.
I was in highschool btw, not even in the UK. Spitting Image = Superb.

Looking back.......Spitting Image attacks on Labour seem all the more accurate, Labour didn't matter and neither did Spitting Image. The Tories just sailed on and on - until Labour finally got off the pot. By then, Spitting Image had finished too.

There was more chance of Zippy from Rainbow becoming PM than he would of been. 2 general elections and with two defeats in 8 years as leader of the Labour Party, not bad going there for loser.
