Although "Honest John" was never actually sung in the movie, you can hear a little of the music played in the background in the "Tobacco Road" part of the Pleasure Island sequence.
Chorus: Honest John, they call him Honest John But I wouldn't trust him as far as I could Throw an elephant over my shoulder Throw a curve with a 10-ton boulder Honest John, look out for Honest John 'Cause he's only honest by reputation Though you'll find him in church on Sunday, He'll steal pennies from a blind man Monday Any old time that anything is gone, Look for Honest John There is one in every city One in every neighborhood He's doing well, but to hear him tell He's always doing good He belongs to all the lodges Wears a politician's smile Any time that you run into him It's time to run a mile Honest John: (spoken) I'm Honest John, they call me Honest John. Chorus: But I wouldn't trust him as far as I'd trust Robert Taylor with my new honey Or a burglar with all my money Honest John: (spoken) Honest John, my friend. They call me Honest John Chorus: But don't ask him out to your house because he'll Steal the bulbs right out of their sockets He's so crooked, he'd pick his own pockets Any old time that anything is gone... (spoken verse) Honest John: Well, musical sweet potatoes, hmm? Might bring a nice track and no one would suspect Honest John... Police Officer: Calling all cars, calling all cars - four musical sweet potatoes missing and last seen but eyed by Honest John. Look for Honest John. That is all. (continued sung verse) Chorus: Any old time that anything is gone... Look for Honest John!
Richard Canipe They also made songs about Jiminy Cricket (and I don't mean "When You Wish Upon a Star" or "Give a Little Whistle") and Monstro the Whale.
Mellomen member Thurl Ravenscroft sang You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch in the 1966 movie. He got to participate in two great animated children’s classics.
That “soothing” low voice is that of a con man. To the unsuspecting, Honest John could charm the birds right out of the trees. To the knowledgeable, his voice is enough to make one’s skin crawl to the point where one’s most odiferous orifice passes their nose on occasion. Take it from me- “Honest John” Tapp.
Why would Honest John's steal the bulbs out of their sockets? I would think he'd have more important things to steal like a person's wallet or maybe a ladies jewelry.
I don’t think the songwriter is saying Honest John would literally steal said items-but that these said items convey how rampant and prolific Honest John’s kleptomania is.

I herd it too
Tobacco Row
Chorus: Honest John, they call him Honest John
But I wouldn't trust him as far as I could
Throw an elephant over my shoulder
Throw a curve with a 10-ton boulder
Honest John, look out for Honest John
'Cause he's only honest by reputation
Though you'll find him in church on Sunday,
He'll steal pennies from a blind man Monday
Any old time that anything is gone,
Look for Honest John
There is one in every city
One in every neighborhood
He's doing well, but to hear him tell
He's always doing good
He belongs to all the lodges
Wears a politician's smile
Any time that you run into him
It's time to run a mile
Honest John: (spoken) I'm Honest John, they call me Honest John.
Chorus: But I wouldn't trust him as far as I'd trust
Robert Taylor with my new honey

Look for Honest John!

2:11 CALLING ALL CARS!!!!! CALLING ALL CARS!!!!!
Honest John would've been singing this song!?
best deleted song ever!
Richard Canipe They also made songs about Jiminy Cricket (and I don't mean "When You Wish Upon a Star" or "Give a Little Whistle") and Monstro the Whale.
That’s right❗️
All you have to do is to be careful around Honest John.
Sometimes he used his words to fool 🃏 you😒
Oh my gosh that honest John song is so classic I love it 😁👍
I think it’s ironic that the fox should be given a name honest John, because well foxes have been known to be sly cunning creatures

If you will delete a scene in any movie. Just show it on the dvd menu anyway.

great song thanks for uploading
When i listen to old Disney songs all i can think about is how im listening to old people sing and how they are most likely dead now...
This is so cute, but I can barely make out some of the lyrics.
This song would have been perfect! Why did they cancel it
@Dandy Crow Oh
Is it just me, or is that the Mellomen performing? One of those voices sound very much like Thurl Ravenscroft.
You're correct! It is indeed the Mellomen with Thurl Ravenscroft. (And what a fun song!)
It's actually The Sportsmen Quartet (Bill Days, Max Smith, John Rarig and Thurl Ravenscroft)
I think these were the men who sang in the Mickey & Minnie cartoon "Nifty Nineties"
@@Croonr1 The Sportsmen also sang “Pink Elephants on Parade” in that famous surreal segment in “Dumbo”.
look familia but I dont sure if was using in disney with another cartoons but I remember I little.
a dejabu..
Any one make a transcript of Honest John and Gideon Arrested after trying to swindle Pinocchio?
Better yet, access to the Disney archives? XD
Ameer Izwan I’m wondering too , I’d really like to see it
nice!
Why is that spoken bit a bit unnerving to me?

@mrtheamazingdude My Pleasure.
jakedp100, my favorite movie is Pinocchio... It's right!
Where did find it?
suena como la mpusica que saldría al comienzo de una pelicula del maestro Woody Allen

Who's this Robert Taylor guy, and why wouldn't you trust him with your new honey?
I’m glad they left this bad song out of the movie
Not nearly as bad as your hair. Yikes.
@@DozingGreen-fz6rg too bad you have no hair
