Mark Kausler, who did storyboards for this sequence, told me that the day before it was pitched to Disney management; Jeffrey Katzenberg was in a car accident. He showed up to work the next day covered in bandages and a cervical collar around his neck. Naturally, he was in a bad mood after his experience - and the sequence went no further. And so, it was reworked to become the iconic song: "Hakuna Matata".
It seems to take very little deliberation for Katzenberg, his reason for cancelling DreamWorks' Me and My Shadow was being jetlagged and falling asleep during a test screening.
This could've been a good addition to _The Lion King 1 1/2_. I don't think we actually learned all that much about Pumbaa; would've been nice to give him a song. Plus it could've worked as another 'helping Simba settle into the Hakuna Matata lifestyle' piece; both _The Lion King_ and _The Lion King 1 1/2_ kind of gloss over most of Simba's childhood anyway. This could also work in an episode of _The Lion Guard_; it's catchy and light-hearted, and having kind of a 'profile' song of an old character could work well with fleshing out Pumbaa to both the new generation of cubs (Kiara, Kion and co.) and the new generation of viewers that the show seems to be aiming for. Heck, they already retreaded "Hakuna Matata" in the most recent episode.
Well, I've tossed an idea into the fire pit of imagination about a Disney+ original show that focuses on an in-between sequel of the lion king all about Simba's cub/teen/adult-hood during his stay with the popular duo. It focuses on all of their hijinks, adventures, etc. So this song **could** fit in there somewhere 💡
On 1:10, you can hear the music score that was in Lion King 1 1/2. It sounds like the song "That's all I need." :) And I love that song. But what do you guys think? Let me know. Because it sounds just like it in that part of the scene.
Yes, the song has a good rhythm, but I'm not going to lie that Hakuna Matata is better.. Also, the sequence here seems funny to me, the 3 sliding down the river towards the waterfall jaja 0:14 It's cute how they take him and show him their home, one detail is that in the official version, when they sing Hakuna Matata, Timon only makes a sign inviting him to go with them, and Simba doubts for a microsecond whether to stay but decides to follow them and I like his Timon's line, is cute: "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" of course yes,a genuine friendship forever
I do agree this song should have been sandwiched between the entire Hakuna Matata song in either Movie or even the musical just like Rhythm of the Tambourine can still indeed be sandwiched between the entire Topsy Turvy Day song for the Hunchback Reboot just like the Hunchback Musical (easily differentiated from the latter's original book by Jehan's role).
Hey! This is used in lion king 1/2!!! I didn't know this was deleted from tlk 1. So like lifes to short from frozen and that they the melody used for the beginning for the song fron frozen fever
I think this is better than Hakuna Matata, only problem is they should’ve replaced “he’s got it all worked out” with things that rhyme with “take it from me/he” to make it more catchy
DURING PRODUCTION, ANOTHER SONG TITLED ''Warthog Rhapsody'' WAS CONSIDERED, BUT WAS TOSSED OUT IN FAVOR OF ''Hakuna Matata'' INSTEAD. THE Writers, Directors, Animators & Story-Board Artists COULD FOCUS NOT ONLY ON Timon & Pumbaa's CAREFREE LIFESTYLE, BUT ALSO ON Simba's NEGLECT FOR RESPONSIBILITY.
1:11 I'm The Silent E At The End Of The Word, I Got Myself Covered In A Bunch Of Words, I Sing This Song And It's Just For You, Learn Your Alphabet You'll Learn Something New
I...okay look...I love Ernie and Nathan so much. But honestly? I don't think they could of saved that remake. It was straight up garbage. Real life animal expressions, when your cast is ALL animals, do not a good movie make, at ALL.
1:12 - 1:16 I can't help but notice that the storyboards remind me of Calvin and Hobbes. Was Bill Watterson involved as a Storyboard artist or were they simply influenced by Calvin and Hobbes?
I can't be sure these are his drawings, but I know Chris Sanders was a storyboard artist on this film and his style very much resembles that of Bill Watterson, so it could be him.
imagine if this was in the lion guard and it was kion, kiara, simba, nala mostly the whole family and friends joining in instead of bunga's 'zuka zama' song
1:56 ”What do you want me to do, dress in drag and do the hula?”
This is really fun to sing. Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella did a great job sing this song.
Jim Cummings and Rob Paulsen did this song not Lane and Sabella
Francesco Brosolo No. It's Nathan and Ernie.
@@ratonzafiris Exactly. However, Rob Paulsen and Jim Cummings DID sing the demo for Hakuna Matata, with the tape being mailed to Nathan and Ernie.

you know, James Horner was shown the recording of My Heart will go on when he was in a bad mood and the original recording ended up in the final filim
That kinda makes me saaaad.

@@conormurnane6457Really?
@@conormurnane6457Is that true? 💀
This should be a reanimated collab
I would like to be in that MAP idea.
I think hakuna matata is way better than this, but I like how Lion King 1 1/2 took this song and made it better :D
The0ptimus I think both songs are good
Hakuna Matata is definitely superior but this would have still been a decent song.
i actually think i prefer this more than hakuna matata but i know that one is a classic
I thought I was the only one who knew
@@DaCarlos3210not really

Poppy Raima Technically that tune for this song was recycled for the lion King 1 1/2 for the song that’s all I need
ArbyTV No wonder why it sounded so familiar.

I know right? I wish they could have added this to Lion King 1 1/2 or the remake.
man this would have looked so good if they animated it
Oh I know, I like it a lot
Critic Nation there is toon boom.
Jackie Gonzalez and Flash.
Comedy Hype and Jason Weaver brought me here.
Same!
This was my favorite of all deleted scenes, aside from the alternate scene of Timon and Pumbaa finding Simba.
On 1:10, you can hear the music score that was in Lion King 1 1/2. It sounds like the song "That's all I need." :) And I love that song. But what do you guys think? Let me know. Because it sounds just like it in that part of the scene.
Maybe rgat's why this was un used and they just Re-Wrote the lyrics
You're right.
I can tell that a different version of this deleted song was actually featured in The Lion King 1 1/2 but with different lyrics.
the tune sounds like “that’s all i need”! that’s rlly cool they reused it
I wanna see this scene animated 😍
we all do but this guy hasnt uploaded in 10 years

Nice! A mix of Hakuna Matata with That's all I need :-)
Thats all i need sounds diffrent
They should animate this from these original sketches.
I love this song
Why was this never used in the movie
It would have been awsome
Eh, it’s not very memorable and lacks the catchiness the other songs in the final cut have
@@RB01.10 This is also before Hakuna Matata too.
Shame this wasn't in the Lion King 1 1/2, this was a fun song.
@Chris Smalls true
Didn't they use this in the third film but whit some other lyrics?
***** uh technically they did use it in the third film, it was just entitled Meerkat Rhapsody
+iHeartRyanStiles it's actually called "That's All I Need" although "Meerkat Rhapsody" would've been better
Simba sounds like Yvonne Murray, the 1993 Canadian dub voice of Kimba The White Lion.
That's all I need is the sample song from Warthog Rhapsody from Lion King 1 1/2.
Shame they didnt add this instead of Morning Report! Love to hear another Nathan and Ernie song
Imagine if someone made a mashup with the Warthog Rapsody and That's All I Need.
the whole world needs to hear this song..
i want the world to hear it...
Thank you for uploading this, truly!
I wish they used this song in the film, it's better than Hakuna Matata, as for me...
Simba's faces in 2:04 - 2:07 xD
2:06 silly sound
I wish they put this in
Remake at least it
Would been different
I Miss the movie
i wish i could see this animated!
This could've been in The Lion King 1 1/2
It WAS, kind of? "That's All I Need" uses the same beat. xD
Am I the only one who actually prefers this to Hakuna Matata?
+slashermaster28 no no you're not

Absolutely not!

Unpopular opinion: I have nothing against Hakuna Matata, but I like this song better.
same
I like the song this song could've been as good as Hakuna Matatta
Its such a Pitty that it was cut

I honestly think this is better than Hakuna Matata.
So much better then hakuna matata, but i like the one from 1 1/2 better

Kind of forgettable, and lacks the catchiness the songs in the final cut have so I can understand why it wasn’t used
It was actually cut to focus on Simba’s neglect of the past.
1:56-2:00 The way Timon disguises himself as a woman and flirts with Simba.
Bloody sexy! 😻
