    Very interesting as always Dave. I have been to Knowlton many times and visited the pagan area you mentioned. Fascinating.

      Thank you Mike. It is a very "atmospheric" place for sure!

    We used to live near Knowlton. Now in New Zealand. Great videos! Makes me feel homesick. Your New Forest walks are pretty good to.
    Have fallen out of “ The Drovers Inn,” a few times🍺👍

    I was born in Holly Tree Cottage (4 minutes into the video) and lived there for the first 11 years of my life - lovely village and nice to see it again

      What a lovely area to have had your childhood.

      @@DaveFord Yes and no. As a child in the 1950s there were not many child-focused things to do. In those days it was a farming area and, like most working-class people, my father could not afford a car and there was no bus service (apart from a bus each Thursday to Blandford Forum for the market). We had to rely on coach outings to Weymouth or Bournemouth.
      The village is very different now - full of retired townies inflating the house prices. And the village shop and garage are long gone.

      @@kenshort8901 My mum just told me the busses are even worse now. You've got to phone up the bus company and ask them to stop and then they'll only stop at the horton inn and not the little bridge over the river. Where they stopped in the 80s anyway.
      But those house prices... blimy.

    Just showing my wife this charming video again. As stated in a previous comment,we used to frequent the pub with our kids. The numbers in the old sign post Are map coordinates, I believe.

    Great video Dave so much history in that area I’ve driven through there a handful of times but wasn’t aware of the church remains.

    Really love watching these walks. Do you do any guided walks Dave? 😊

    • @DaveFord
      @DaveFord  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Val. No, I am afraid that I don't organise guided walks. These are just videos of me & my dog - going out into the countryside & seeing what we can discover and at the same time hopefully give people some ideas about where they might to walk (ie a rough guide to the walk & what to look out for). Thanks for watching.

    Another interesting walk Dave. How nice to be able to go for a pint after a walk! I'm sure you have been asked before but who's playing the guitar music you feature?

    • @DaveFord
      @DaveFord  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks Mark. All my music comes from the UA-cam Audio Library (it is free and there is no copyright!). Recently I have used Firefly & Tupelo Train (both by Chris Haugen) as well as Rainy Sundays & Lovely Afternoon Walk (both by The 126ers).
