For those who liked the idea of King's Field, i suggest you to play the Shadow Tower Sequel named Shadow Tower Abyss. It's King's Field.......but with M16's And Grenade Launchers and all those weapons (of course there are swords,bows and crossbows and that kind of weapons too) and as i saw in a video of Shadow Tower Abyss "Any RPG game that let's you use a Grenade Launcher can't be bad"

Echo Knight: Beyond and Kuon are massively underrated horror games that are very much ahead of their time, many reviewers just found them odd and weird resulting to mixed reviews. Shadow Tower Abyss is also a great game that totally went unnoticed. Aside from Armored Core 2 and Adventures of Cookies and Cream, those first three games I mentioned are among their best works before the Soulsborne games exploded.
adambomb1200 left it out for time constraints, along with the other 50 games From made. I didn't originally plan on making a part 2, but it's in the works currently. I just have to find time to script in between terrible life events and massive amounts of factory overtime.
Funny thing is the one who did shitty Evergrace soundtrack is also the one who did great soundtrack on most Armored Core games, especially Nexus, 4th and 5th gen AC.
Wow, I had no idea The Adventures of Cookie and Cream existed, and that it it came up with the "each analog stick controls a different character in order to solve puzzles" years and years before the game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons would use that same formula
EverGrace's soundtrack is one of the most avant-garde and interesting soundtracks ever made and unlike the game itself it's actually really good. And they did in fact make a prequel called EverGrace II, or Forever Kingdom in the US.
Right on both accounts it seems. I record these little bits in a good 2 hour increment when I have free time, that leaves me with very limited time to experience the game overall. I'll give the soundtrack another go, now that I'm back around to working on the script for From Software part 2 again full time.

I never played them, mate! I was highlighting what I thought were From Software's biggest hits; then when I posted this on Reddit a LOT of people said not mentioning Otogi was a big oversight. I owned a lot of the other games, but i've been slowly (in between work and video editing mind you) going through/ordering each of From Software's other games I missed, then sitting down to play them/form my own opinion. After that's done and I feel like I've sufficiently experienced all the From goodness, I'll make a part 2!
Haha, no problem. You got in Cookie & Cream / Kuri Kuri Mix so I thought the Otogi games were a given to be covered. I'd recommend you to play them in any case. They're more in the fast action vein, but they feature similar themes and a similar bleak atmosphere, with undead warriors and demons, be it in a Japanese historical setting.
That's what I heard. A lot of people said they would have liked Otogi over something like Nioh, for instance. I'll admit, after hearing so much about Otogi it definitely made me want to jump on the game and start playing. I pretty much did this video from the Wikipedia page about From Software and about 10-11 developer interviews, so not knowing about some of the earlier games really hurt. I just didn't think they made SO, DAMN, MANY, GAMES lol.

Apparently so! I've been doing minor research on it and trying to get copies of all the leftover From games I haven't played it. I'll be interested to check it out and after listening to a bit more of the Ever Grace soundtrack it isn't bad...very, eclectic though!

Because it was Abyss that had the guns, rocket launches and grenade launchers. The regular stayed true to the whole medieval fantasy thing. Abyss was just better.

I aint so sure miyazaki is best to helm from software, he really only seems to have one trick, not saying that his idea of souls like games is bad but he dosent seem to be able to advance the concept in meaningful ways can see that whit dark souls one and three aside from switching some names for bosses 3rd game is basically just a remake of first game and aside from genre jump bloodborne sticks to same limitations and as cool an idea as elden ring adding from start to finish coop and open world to the base formula, what we know of coop progress is only saved for the host, which for a fully coop game should be a self evident counterdesign to the whole idea and how souls like works as open world remains to be seen until launch, but how they handle coop speaks of inability to learn from industry as a whole, so i have my doubts wheter they can take good ideas from other games that have done the same or do we need to go through video game evolution again whit fromsoft from begining. Also dark souls 2 for all the hate it gets actually atempted to move dark souls story forward, while 3 stagnated on basic concept and 1 and 3 are ones that miyazaki was in charge of painting a picture of someone stuck on doing things his way and rejecting growth until its forced by managment and then do it in most antiquited way possible.
I think your King's Field facts, at least matched with the video, are a little off. For some of us KF is when From became popular and we are still waiting for a new game. The Souls games are the spiritual successor to KF.

actually ive been never a dark souls fan. Demons souls and bloodborne are the two that should be praised. In dark souls i feel that it was made for the americans and europeans. Its easier and and the story telling is more specific if u compare with demons souls and bloodborne. And i believe i should add that im a huge rpg fan. I liked the japanese style i also understand why people like dark souls more than demons souls. Anyway they are the savior of rpg games for our time. So not complaining :D

Jon Binley absolutely not, at least not here from me. I love Dark Souls 2 and found it to be a refreshing change from 1. Like you though Bloodborne is my favorite of the games, but I think a lot of people idolize Dark Souls 1 because of the first half of the game, but honestly once you're past Ornstein and Smough most of the boss fights are lackluster. Seath is silly easy, The Bed of Chaos sucks, 4 Kings is great and Nito is a pigeon. The areas lose a lot of their appeal for me as well in 1, Dukes Archive? Meh. Tomb of the Giants? Meh. The horrible splotchy orange lava dungeon? Meh. 2 had some of my favorite moments in it just from a cinematic perspective; the run up to the castle in the rain, the sky full of dragons in the dragons nest area...man, breath taking. Each of the games have their problems, but to say 2 is poor? Nonsense!

Jon Binley hell yeah it was. The magic in 2 felt cohesive and could actually be used in PvE builds; I think so too, but ultimately what matters is you had fun with it. I had fun with all the games in the series and they each succeeded in areas and failed in others - quantifying one as best or worst is just silly when it comes down to taste!

lol I had to stop when you said Armored Core 2 was fast. You clearly don't remember this correctly. AC 1 was way faster than AC 2 and the success of the game had nothing to do with the game's own standing. It was simply due to a growing cult fanbase, through 3rd party expositions such as the demo discs that were available at the time.
I liked FromSoftware before Hidetaka Miyazaki came to the company and before they were famous. Because of him, he made the company into a household name thanks to Dark Souls, and made the company FAMOUS AS HELL. I do not like people in the game industry who are like that. I call them RENEGADES, just like how Tetsuya Nomura was to Square-Enix, and how Katsuya Nishino was to ATLUS.
This is a pretty incomplete history, skewed towards the games which Western audiences find popular. Also how the hell do you just gloss over demon souls?
I hope Miyazaki stays away from Armored Core tbh, his AC qames are the worst of the series and he comes off as a one trick pony only able to rehash Dark Souls in slightly different forms over and over; though obviously I can't deny he's probably the best thing to ever happen to From Software from a financial standpoint.

I didn't Kuon was made by the same team as ENB. Kuon is one of my favorite horror games.

I think your King's Field facts, at least matched with the video, are a little off. For some of us KF is when From became popular and we are still waiting for a new game. The Souls games are the spiritual successor to KF.

actually ive been never a dark souls fan. Demons souls and bloodborne are the two that should be praised. In dark souls i feel that it was made for the americans and europeans. Its easier and and the story telling is more specific if u compare with demons souls and bloodborne. And i believe i should add that im a huge rpg fan.
I liked the japanese style i also understand why people like dark souls more than demons souls. Anyway they are the savior of rpg games for our time. So not complaining :D

Jon Binley absolutely not, at least not here from me. I love Dark Souls 2 and found it to be a refreshing change from 1. Like you though Bloodborne is my favorite of the games, but I think a lot of people idolize Dark Souls 1 because of the first half of the game, but honestly once you're past Ornstein and Smough most of the boss fights are lackluster. Seath is silly easy, The Bed of Chaos sucks, 4 Kings is great and Nito is a pigeon. The areas lose a lot of their appeal for me as well in 1, Dukes Archive? Meh. Tomb of the Giants? Meh. The horrible splotchy orange lava dungeon? Meh. 2 had some of my favorite moments in it just from a cinematic perspective; the run up to the castle in the rain, the sky full of dragons in the dragons nest area...man, breath taking. Each of the games have their problems, but to say 2 is poor? Nonsense!

Jon Binley hell yeah it was. The magic in 2 felt cohesive and could actually be used in PvE builds; I think so too, but ultimately what matters is you had fun with it. I had fun with all the games in the series and they each succeeded in areas and failed in others - quantifying one as best or worst is just silly when it comes down to taste!

AC 1 was way faster than AC 2 and the success of the game had nothing to do with the game's own standing.
It was simply due to a growing cult fanbase, through 3rd party expositions such as the demo discs that were available at the time.
I liked FromSoftware before Hidetaka Miyazaki came to the company and before they were famous. Because of him, he made the company into a household name thanks to Dark Souls, and made the company FAMOUS AS HELL. I do not like people in the game industry who are like that. I call them RENEGADES, just like how Tetsuya Nomura was to Square-Enix, and how Katsuya Nishino was to ATLUS.

I hope Miyazaki stays away from Armored Core tbh, his AC qames are the worst of the series and he comes off as a one trick pony only able to rehash Dark Souls in slightly different forms over and over; though obviously I can't deny he's probably the best thing to ever happen to From Software from a financial standpoint.
