No matter how much success and accolade she attained, she always remained true to herself, to her roots, and to her people. A Genius and Queen indeed 👑🙌🏾💯🔥🐐!!!
Ain't nothing like hearing Aretha Franklin sanging soul music on a Sunday morning. It's like food for the soul. Thank you for posting this gem ReelBlack 💎

Wow I grew up to this music played by my mom at home. The Voice almighty. what a live performance and delivery. Lawd have mercy. This is singing including the background singers the band is tight.
Did you ever find out who that backing singer in the middle is ?... I have searched and searched but have never matched a name to that face... she appears in quite a few Aretha videos around 1971...

Amazing! Simply amazing to look back in time, thanks to Reelblack & Co. 🤎🖤❤️💛💚 Interesting to see how performance has changed over 5 decades. In those days, musicianship & vocalizing were centered, & some tasteful, if colorful costumes. Now you get very little actual musicianship-it’s all synthesized. The pyrotechnics, extreme lighting & crowds onstage provide the party atmosphere-so there’s no need for an after-party. No one has to be talented, really, just stagestruck. They’ve computed & shortcut out any real reason to see a live musical performance anymore. Aretha Franklin is still incomparable.
Her top voice was often below par during these European tours, she'd have to sing in a lower key as her top was hoarse. She suffered a lot with throat issues like laryngitis and chain smoking didn't help. So even in her prime she was having voice problems. But when her sound was up and voice range was firing, she possessed the greatest sound ever to come from a human throat, but it wasn't exhibited during these performances. Her voice was far superior in terms of range and power a few years later in the mid 70s, ironically when her commercial success was diminishing. I think at this period she was tired, smoked too much and drank too much, and years of singing and the pressure of the civil rights movement, and the death of King, and her marriage problems, her voice was at a low point at this time.
