Is This LEGENDARY Headphone All Hype? Audio Technica M50X Review.

- The Audio Technica ATH M50X is an extremely popular headphone with an illustrious reputation among consumers. It can frequently be seen in home studios and on Twitch streams all across the globe. It's loved by podcasters, musicians, gamers, streamers, and youtubers from many different areas but among audiophiles seems to be the topic of much criticism. Hardcore audiophiles are quick to call it "mid" "overhyped" and even "trash." I'm here to find out why it's both so beloved, and so detested.

I remember when I bought this headphone. At the time it seemed the whole internet was hyping them like they are the best thing ever and absolutely everyone said that you can do absolutely nothing wrong with buying them. When I got mine I was dissapointed. I thought I was crazy because I didn't like them - since everyone praised them so much. It was only when I specifically looked for negative reviews (to see if I'm not crazy) that I found ONE person who dared to critique them.
I think it is in part experiences like this that make people shit over the M50x.
Yeah the M50X is definitely one of those headphones which, has some bad, some good, but the mainstream hype definitely skews how they are received by different people.

There must be something wrong with the device you are plugging the M50 x headphones into because I think the M 50 x headphones have an excellent sound performance, perfect for editing or just very enjoyable listening.
I have to judge the headphone based on the performance of the unit in my possession. I possess several amps and there wasn't much difference between them. What I hear personally is in line with what the objective measurements show. There's a lot of midbass and I personally don't care for that sound signature. But hey, if you like your M50X that's great! More power to you dude.

I will never not throw shade at KZ and Raycon I'm ready to throw down at all times LMAO
M50xbt2 does not have the same tuning. It's better but I still prefer an m40x with brainwavz angled pads. The bluetooth second gen tames the bass and its no longer muddy. It sounds slightly outside of the head so it improved there too but its still a very like in your face sound. Vocals are VERY forward and its like everything is just shoved at you. While its great for wanting some energetic listening sessions or going to sleep with asmr...i just prefer a neutral bright tuning or nuetral with a very slight bass lift.
Another audio vtuber. The end is nigh.
That said, M50x is good when you haven't heard anything good. The bass is bad diarrhea, the highs are a laser show right in your eye and the mids are very meh. A strong 5/10 with a K 371 being an easy 8.5/10.
Yeah you said it, there are $20 IEMs that destroy the m50x tenfold
As for me being an audio vtuber all I can say is, cope.
But funny enough this headphone has been outdone by AT themselves. M40x basically achieves the same isolation with a much more balanced sound. It's the same price category too so it boggles my mind that this is the headphone every content creator picks.
@@TenshinSound Yes I'm familiar. These became a classic seemingly mainly due to their ruggedness. Very few have been able to break them in normal use. Like a Nokia 3310. M40x is 7 years newer and made to complement the best seller.
