Who else thinks Sigtryggr is a cool ass name!
It is for sure!
A lot of Vikings had pretty cool names, Sigtryggr sounds like the sigma with a fucking cannon 😂
But man I shudder at what Ivar 'The Boneless' really meant.
So many tales and speculation and the facts are he was probably more along the lines of Vlad 'The impaler' e.g Ivar possibly left his enemies without Bones or something messed up
Yes! Viking dynasties at five in the morning. Thanks for another amazing video, Ollie!
Hope you enjoyed Jared, thank you for watching!
The mind is a far better warrior than the sword.
Ivar the Boneless
Indeed it is
Highly enjoyed the video, my friend. As always it was comprehensive, accurate and descriptive. I truly look forward to more future videos on Viking age history. Keep it up buddy!
Hope you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching!
Good morning history lovers.
Good morning brother from middle Tennessee.
Good morning
Good morning!
Good morning
Good Afternoon
Really great video, so interesting to learn about the descendants of Ivar the Boneless and the Uí Ímair
Thanks bc
Loyalty is so fleeting even to this day.
Thank you for watching
I know I'm supposed to hate on Ivar for his activities against Christians, but there's something about him, being King, a great fighter, true Norseman, cunning ruthlessness, and even his name itself, there's something mythic and mystical bout him I'll have open ears everytime his name is mentioned!
I am Christian and I really hate the Christians over the past. They were just as vile as anybody else.
Ivar the boneless was the smartest most strategic war plans of all his brothers. And a great warrior overshadowed by him living with disability❤
He was a man of his times. Amazing man indeed.
Thank you for this video!!! I love all your content!
Interesting how The Last Kingdom & Vikings play into each other 👍
I know, right? If you okay close attention in the last kingdom, sigtryggr is referred to as kin to ivar the boneless
They’re basically telling the same story. Ivar is actually in the Last Kingdom books but was left out of the show for some reason.
@@edwardmortimer8643 yeah I think he is the books very briefly and then goes north, would have been cool to hear his name at least in the show, nonetheless the show was really good, loved it
They did mention Ivar in the show when ubba went to Ireland to avenge his death and left guthred stranded in that fort where uhtred was made a hostage
@@shaycase1834 True, Ubba Ragnarson is one of a very few characters that appear in both shows
Wonderful compilation!! Love these videos. Talk about family feud lol. Wonder if I’m related to any of these guys as I’m Scandinavian.
Thank you for this great video. It's always amazing to learn about their lives. Your performance narration for history, is the best!
Thank you for watching Elke!
@@historyprofiles
You are welcome! Great video! Thank you
Wonderful video! I'm learning about the ancestors!! Thank you so very much!!
Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed!
Ivar got his intellect from his Dad. Ragnar was very smart and Calculated.
Or maybe his mother.. Aslaug was the cunning one. Don't go by the series but by the sagas
I’ve been waiting for this 👏🏻
Hope you enjoyed!
Very well done I enjoyed it.
Wonderful video and info! I'm glad it's true that Ivar in series was a real man unlike how his brothers in the show never believed he could do the dirty dance❤all hail Ivar the Boneless on the series!
So awesome brother!!!
Thanks for the visit brother!
Great work once again😊
Thanks again!
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoyed he video!
This video had a lot of good information
Glad it was helpful!
I am glad to not have been around those times, but I do have the complete Vikings series seeing this which I am on the 5th season and Ivar the Boneless is doing his work as well as Bjorn plus, this here is also great about further history in those bad times, thanks Whew!
At night, even the strongest, powerful, and most awe-inspiring viking king also falls sleep. The royal bloodline means nothing if it is spilled.
I'm new here 😀 so looking forward to diving in 💚🍀
Welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy!
🌟 Excellent!
Well done 👍
Thank you
Than you🌹
Jolly Good show
Loved it wish I could of lived in them times
Badass names. Sigtrigger and ole Anal-F sound like a European Dubstep duo.
Thank you ❤ 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Named my 4month old service dog in training after Ivar. ❤
Another interesting video. Are you gonna do a video on the House of Munso as well?
Yea that’s my next video
I have read that the point of his nickname is that he could not get it up. Yet somehow he produced a dynasty.
This man's video has made me fall in love with england and the UK...planning to move to London..😂
Thank you so much! It really means a lot !
@@historyprofiles keep posting more mate..can't get enough!
@@Ronin-101 I’ve got a descendants of bjorn video coming next week!
Please keep doing ( The Descendents of/House of)series.
I will do!
Love these series
Wowzers
Uí Imár means from the Clan of Ivar. Uí means the same as O' in an Irish surname. The accent in Irish is sounded like a H. So the correct pronunciation is Imhar with a soft H.
And, Brian boru ,gabran 4 th ad O'Brian!!
Does anyone know what movie the picture is from at the start of video 0:56 or is it just an Ai image
Whats the new program your using
The boneless was probably due to being hammered and not breaking there are also alot of snippets to say he was probably very tall etc …
It makes sense as his mothers breeding
Yep
Exactly
❤
Are these clips from movies or TV
Can someone please help. I'm wanting to find some good books to read more on Ivan and his descendants. Can anyone give me suggestions? Thank you
Same. Someone tells us please.
Also I'm Constantly searching and if I find one I'll post it here
Queens Co, Ireland now called Leix where My great great great Dad came from moved to Canada then to America early 1820s
When does Brian brew come in to it
From which movie was taken this images?
Ivar from vikings - sigtrygrr the last kingdom and analf from the last kingdom seven kings must die
@@historyprofiles thanks 👍
Could the nickname “The Boneless” be an ironic reference to having a promiscuous nature? Many romantic conquests?
Like a huge dude named Tiny... I dig it
I've always thought he had that bone disease, I can't remember the name . I've read he had the sclera of his eyes turn blue which was a symptom of that disease. Your answer is more fun though ❤
Wait so is ímar of dublin and ivarr ragnarsson the same
In my opinion yes. Ivar disappears from Anglo Saxon sources when he goes north. He then reappears the same year is Imar in Irish sources. Halfdan, ivars brother then goes to Dublin straight after imar’s death. I think there are too many coincidences for them not to be the same person as do many historians
@@historyprofiles okay ten4 I wish I could time travel friend
24th ggf Sigurd Snake Eye and Blaeja of Northumbria
Just think if they quit killing each other and worked together what they could do United now. !!
Wouldn't have worked in that time.
I'd have preferred a Viking win over the Normans.
Didn't his illness make him sterile. As far as I know he doesn't have descendants
No that’s the show, real life Ivar the boneless wasn’t a cripple in real life. He was capable of having kids, also Ivars disease doesn’t cause impotence in real life
Did Ivar have daughters?
Where do you get these pictures from? Is there a movie I missed?
Alot if them are ai generated images of viking kings
Wow. I had to fast forward the snake pit. I dislike snakes.
Why is it always snakes?😂

Nearly got bitten by one when little. Lived in a town where my mom had chickens. Saw it slithering inside the coup.
SKÅL brother's
Skal!
@@historyprofiles
In Swedish, "skal" is peel, or skin. It's called "skål", here. Made me amused to read your comment.
Normans have alburn hair amber brown eyes, I'm from Ragnar and Rollo descendant, My father Richardson My mother Wilcox, son's of William 1066 ,
Rollo came from Scandinavia, as far as we know Ragnar was a legend we don't know if he actually lived if he did he was also Scandinavian so they had blue eyes the Vikings mixed with the Franks and that's why they became Normans with auburn hair and amber brown eyes over time
Sigtrygr is the same guy whos frnd with uthred
*Not intended @historyprofiles*:
The Vikings show did a disservice to the actual human who lived “Ivar the Boneless”.
Making him a crippled psycho basically. I hate peoples use that image of the actor from the show everytime they make videos in the person Ivar.
The real man would feel disgraced by that show.
they made a joke of edmund ironside in the valhalla series aswell... edmund was a big guy and a great fighter even canute didnt dare battle him 1 on 1 and in the show they made him a weak timid little boy its an absolute disgrace!
@@ihannibal2470 what they did to Edmund was really sad. He was depicted as a champion of a warrior. His nickname was literally Edmund Ironside, the same nickname as Bjorn, due to his military prowess. Then they made him a complete joke.
I agree, they could have portrayed him a lot better. I only use the image of the actor so i can get more people to click so they can know about his real life!
@@historyprofiles I apologize i didn't mean for it to sound like I'm coming "at you" about it. It's just I don't know how many times I've seen that actors face in thumbnails, but do appreciate your videos and content.
The Northern ancestors were some of the bravest, mightiest men this realm has ever seen, and those behind the entertainment industry (spineless) like to portray the Europeans and their ancestors are weak and conquered.
If Ivar had such renown descendants, why did they portray him as unable to breed in the TV show?
I have absolutely no idea. They made Bjorn lagerthas son when he was actually aslaugs son. And Ragnar and rollo were never brothers. Historical inaccuracies from the get go
@@historyprofiles It's definitely an entertaining show, but I wish these writers would be more accurate in depicting historical context instead of just writing in complicated drama settings. Barbarians failed the same way, as well as Vikings Valhalla, at least in my opinion.
@@justchill4885 I completely agree. Vikings Valhalla was less entertaining and more of a farce. Could go on for hours dissecting all the mistakes. The last kingdom is more historically and accurate and entertaining in my opinion
@@historyprofiles I agree, The Last Kingdom is one of my favorites. Despite the fact that the Uhtred in the show is a fabricated character. Although, I was severely disappointed with the Last Kingdom Movie. It moved too quickly as far as plot and didn't really add up well.
@@justchill4885 I agree, Uhtred was a very captivating character though. It’s also very smart how the show left him out of all the chronicles to show that he never existed and stays a mystery. I agree with your opinion of the film as well. The only redeeming feature about it was Uhtred seeing his old viking allies and the decision of weather to go to Valhalla or stay in the realm of the living
Did guffrif smell
Belfast not Ulster
Was AnalF boneless as well, or was he full of bone(s) 😨
Full of bones
The narratives of Vikings was wrong, the Jylland people the Juts were there before the Romans. The Vikings who are Jutlandisk are just liberating their sister country of Jysks Juts that settled in these islands way before Anglos and Sax. Viking is a verb word not a people, the people are Jutland/Jylland Juts or Jysk... Jylland is in Denmark also Norway and Danes along with Swedes Gots are just doing Viking they are related culture all were just Viking meaning adventuring. Change the history books to reality, not some Roman narratives.
Excuse me but, is Ramsay Snow who's narrating this mentary? Sounds like him LMAO
They are Norman not Irish!!! Ireland's a nationality !!
From the Celtic tribes before the Germanic tribes formed and pushed them back to Ireland.
Sick video but maybe get some assistance for ur pronunciation of Irish names boss
