Great teaching ! I would like to point out three facts. 1) As with all of Pauls' letters, Romans begins with the grreting,"..to the saints of..". Paul is addressing already saved believers. The only way they could have been saved before Paul wrote his letters is according to Acts 2:38. 2) Salvation is about being born again ,and just as natural birth is the end result of a process, so is spiritual rebirth. Acts 2:38 is that process. 3) Salvation is a free gift, but even a free gift must be recieved by us in order for it to be ours. Our English understanding of the word " recieve" is different than the original Greek of the new testaments definition. It is defined in the original language as " to take hold of". This requires effort on our part , not to "earn" the free gift ,but to make it something we now possess. We do this by our faith in action through obedience. It seems we Apostolics are the only ones whose eyes are not blinded and whose ears are not dull of hearing. When Paul wrote his epistles, he wrote to a select audience: believers baptized in Jesus’ Name and filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Therefore, he had no need to explain that grace did not simply mean mental assent. The concept of grace that unsaved theologians promote is inaccurate. Grace does not mean you have a free claim to declare that you are saved just because you believe Jesus is who He said He was (even the devils know who Jesus is). Nor does it mean that saying a sinner's prayer saves you, which, in essence, would suggest that you are saving yourself. The thief was on the other side of Calvary. Before Christ died, before He was glorified. The writer of Hebrews explains this in Ch 9. A testament is of no power until after the testator dies. The New Testament plan of salvation had not been put into action yet. The thief was technically still in the Old Testament. This can blind side some people, we sometimes forget that even though the Gospels are included in our new testament’s of our bibles, the Gospels were not written before Jesus’ death, but they took place before his death.
Hi Joe - the thief’s acceptance by Christ reflects an oikonomea… He called upon the Lord and was saved… But, even though I disagree with many things that Oneness Pentecostals say, to include Revamp and Post_T … normally, we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ… which is evident here by the Thief’s calling out to remember him when Christ God comes into his Kingdom .. Repentance… Many will cite Mark 16:16 - which wasn’t present in all ancient texts… He that believe and is baptized… but is certainly part of coming into the faith. Repent. Baptism and Chrismation - the sealing of the Holy Spirit. Keep on pressing.

Hmm…salvation by grace through faith. As opposed to what? Salvation by law through Moses? Salvation by myth through the gods? Salvation by the emperor through Rome? Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Rema of God.
Obedience is a symptom of salvation. Your sinful flesh can not be obedient without the strength of the Holy Spirit and a sinful heart changed by God's grace. You are thus putting works into salvation. Foolish.
Acts 10 43. Acts 16 31. Everything stated after Acts 2 is faith alone in the sacrifice of Jesus. Acts 15 clarifies that Peter believes that the Jew will be saved "even as they", in the context he means the Gentiles. He elaborated to explain that the heart of the Gentile is purified by faith. Thus, saved by grace through faith alone.
If you were in a burning building, and you couldn't get out yourself, it would be by the grace of the firefighter who goes into that building for you that you would be saved from the fire. And yes, it IS by grace that they do this, because they don't willing go into burning buildings just to get paid; there's much safer ways to make money. They do it because they care about people. Now imagine you're trapped on the third floor of the building, which won't be three levels up for much longer, and the closes the firefighter can get to you is from the second floor, just below a hole where he can see you. He tells you to jump and says, "Don't worry, I'll catch you." It's a bit of a scary idea, but you'd obviously believe him (that he can and will catch you if you jump). I ask you; would belief alone be enough to save you? If you stayed up there on the burning 3rd floor, 100% sincere and confident in the belief that he will catch you and then save you, would you actually be saved from the fire? Of course not! True belief always leads to action! So it is with salvation. You could believe in your heart all you want, but if you don't let that belief lead to you obeying God's Word (repentance, baptism both water and Spirit, and living a holy life to the best of your abilities), then your belief means nothing. Just as believing the firefighter in the burning building would require you to act on your belief to truly be saved, so does believing on Jesus require you to act on your belief to truly have salvation. Otherwise, belief is nothing more than a license to freely sin.

@@germanwulf40 as a Presbyterian I believe baptism saves... However faith proceeds works. Works are a production of real faith. Pointing to works doesn't disprove my position. The reason baptism is effectual in the first place is because the person getting baptized has faith. Would baptism do anything in itself for someone who lacks it? Obviously not. The water isn't magical for a non-believer. therefore faith takes precedence. Everything else flows from it. No such thing as perfect obedience. If that was the case heaven is empty. The reason we obey isn't to save ourselves. But to show love to the one who has already saved. To show real faith.

Acts 2, 10, and 19 do not mean every single person will speak in tongues. Paul tried to make that clear, “do all speak with tongues?” (Speak, not “have the gift of tongues”).
If he told the Galatians they were cursed for requiring circumcision, (when that was originally THE sign they were in covenant with God), I wonder what he would say to those who have told people they can’t be saved because they’re still “seeking” a signs gift for years. Think about that.

the thief on the cross was not baptized.
That's bc the thief was under OT law and Jesus had not yet been resurrected in order to command water baptism. Duh

Romans 10:17 is Mark 16:15-17.
Obedience is a symptom of salvation. Your sinful flesh can not be obedient without the strength of the Holy Spirit and a sinful heart changed by God's grace. You are thus putting works into salvation. Foolish.
What works?
That can’t be true because the Bible says we are given the Holy Ghost because we have obeyed Him (Acts 5:32).
Acts 10 43.
@@germanwulf40yet is still the belief that saves you. Not the action. The action only reflects or shows that belief. Least you can boast.
@@isaacsandoval9316 So what do you think Jesus meant in John 3:5 - the exact same conversation as John 3:16 - when He said "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."
Can you define what it means to be "born of water" and "born of the Spirit"?
Ephesians 2:8-10 is water baptism and Spirit baptism to be born again and saved.
Paul wrote a letter to Ephesus reminding the Ephesians of how they were saved in their past.
Acts 19:1 Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus:
Acts 19:5¶When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Acts 19:5-6.
