- Gambit isn't my favorite Marvel X-Men character but for some reason I love Gamit action figures, expecially when they are as well done as the Medicom MAFEX version.

I remember a comic where Gambit explained that his gloves where designed that way to minimise the kinetic charge. He holds a palm sized rock in his bare hands and tosses it, the explosion leaves a Predator suicide sized crater.
1:17 I love how the marvel select Watcher is just watching the review In the background, as the watcher does
You must be pretty powerful to even notice him. Wow!
Who watches the Watchers?
It is definitely cool having a company doing DC and Marvel stuff, so it all fits together in a collection
Gambits greatest power is staying relevant after 1990s. Love it
I guess that's funny lol, but I don't get it. Can anyone explain why it was amazing Gambit lasted past the 90's? I thought he's been one of the top most popular X-Men since the early 90's...cause he's cool and cool lookin'.
@@Chalor. My guess would be that characters created after '91-'92 never got too far after the 90's. Cable, Gambit, Deadpool, and Bishop are the only characters created in the 90's that had real longevity. A majority of the characters introduced in that decade didn't go much further than the 90's. Adam X-Treme, Maverick, Marrow, Joseph, X-Man, Maggot, Shard, Cecilia Reyes, the X-Ternals, and a majority of the Generation X cast became mostly irrelevant after 1999.
@@phily-phil to be fair the last order of characters you mentioned weren’t that popular even in the 90s
Gambit, Bishop and Cable got a huge push in the 90s due to being in the animated series,
Deadpool on the other hand while he had a cult following in the 90s he actually didn’t get popular until the early 2000s with his introduction into video games such as xmen legends and marvel ultimate alliance which lead him to being in that wolverine animated movie and then xmen origins and the rest is history.
@@dwf6431 You're right. Those characters never caught on. I guess what I was trying to say was that the writers tried to make alot of characters happen in the 90's and none of them really worked out except Gambit, Cable, Deadpool, and Bishop.
@@phily-phil the real problem was after the 90s marvel had an influx of writers who loved 70s and 80s xmen so people like colossus, havok, night crawler ect were given MASSIVE pushes to the forefront and the writers when they did write 90s characters wrote them as wallpaper or just straight up garbage(in gambit and bishops case).
The funny thing about this is 20 years later out of the spotlight and the cast from the animated series is still massively more popular than the xmen they have been trying to push in the books.
If i had one complaint with this figure, its that i still wish it came with some kind of smirking face. Thats just the vibe i always imagine Gambit having
This Gambit made me want to actually start getting the Mafex 90s Xmen figures. I was debating it. But now I'm sold lol
Good job my friend
Yeah, between this and the upcoming brown suit Wolverine, I'm all in on their X-Men stuff.
They are really cool, despite the hate i love mafex wolverine
@@TheQuikMix didn't know about the brown suit it looks fantastic. Definitely the Wolverine ill be getting
This figure looks amazing, i need it in my collection. Gambit's 90's design has always been one of my favorites, right behind Nightcrawler.
This Gambit is beautiful... I'm so sad I had to let it pass because there was just so much other stuff coming out in the same month...
I hope Medicom re-releases their X-Men figures some time in the future because now I need them all, lol.
Praying We Get An Ice Man Beast & Angel 🙏🏾
Or At Least Professor X
I’m hoping as Gambit has been released that Endgame Captain America won’t be long behind, but who knows! Great review Robo, I was a fan of Mafex Hush Superman and Infinity War Captain America
I got charged for my Cap preorder yesterday, so it’ll hopefully be soon. No idea why Gambit is already shipped and received before Cap though
@@The_Floosh were did you order bro? Amiami havent send any payment invoice yet
When you said “you can see, it’s still standing” @12:53 Elton John’s I’m Still Standing immediately started playing in my head, haha. That’s this Gambit’s theme song. Sure showed you, Robo!
Excellent review and pictures. This is a great addition to anyone's collection. Thanks for sharing your treasure.
Gambit was my jam back in my yung’un days. This figure is so good looking!
This is just an awesome figure, MAFEX's X-Men lineup is coming along nicely. Great review, Robo, your "creepy bear" observation always cracks me up, lol.
Can’t wait to get mine tomorrow! Great review
Really cool review. I was considering buying one of these and you sold me.
Excellent review- Another great release by Mafex
Very cool, though I am surprised they didnt colour the clear pegs of the hands for the big honkin effects that pinkish colour to have them blend in.
I think the fingers were exposed for the purpose of charging his energy int objects, otherwise he’d charge his gloves and blow up his hand.
That's a really smart observation. I never thought about that before (which is sad), but I'll definitely go with the explanation you said.
Loving that WATCHER!
Great review
Nice review.
Plan to open mine this week with my son whom is named after the rage'n cajun himself so should be fun for him to see this version of his namesake, also fyi gambit doesn't wear upper armor, yes it protects him but its mostly a upper body suit ment to distort radio and camra transmission frequencies, so he can burglarize and not be seen on camera or heard for that matter, that's why the vest is form fitted and shiny.
😅dear god did you actually name your son remy labou
@@nasjordan2598 wife allowed me REMY, and we settled on Lecaden for his middle name instead of lebeau, but be assured I tried very hard for the whole name and feel very lucky to have what I got, and trust the name fits
@@chrisjordan8109 that is awful 🤦♂️
@@jonathandevereaux298 nothing awful about it but your untitled to your opinion
Oh Yesss Mine Coming Sunday
ah ha, i see the watcher there. nice decoration. always watching
Can’t wait to get this in hand. I really hope a Nightcrawler and bikini-suit Storm are next!
😅😅😅im pretty sure you wernt talking about the marvel monthly swimsuit special but it would be cool if they just gave us a line of marvel chix in bikinis, that would be a fun thing to own
also i really wanna see a aoa nightcrawler and iceman, thoose are like the coolest xmen designs ever along with magneto
Yes let’s have all the other x-men in the 90s Jim lee outfits but randomly throw in a storm in her first appearance outfit.. smart idea
@@Poisonivy4444 but the marvel bikini girls is still a good idea?
☹

@@Poisonivy4444 Or...a Magneto from Age of Apocalypse. Right?
Woah! You got the bobblehead chase variant!
Great review ♠️♥️♦️♣️
Great review! I wonder if you ever considered doing comic book-based movie and TV show reviews. I would love to get your opinion on "Marvel's What If?" series. I understand time is probably an issue.
Another amazing review
Please do a review on the armadillo wave
Very nice looking figure.
My only gripe is the coat/jacket: i don't like how cheap it look especially compared to the beautiful (perfect?) coat/jacket of the Mezco One :12.The problem is the materiel they choose.
Finally!
I knew it!
I finally got mine, but the upper torso is very loose that makes it anoying, how can i fix it?
If I'm not mistaken I think Gambit wears some sort of g-force suit because of his kinetic energy powers
I was waiting for this. Yes, thank you!!!!!!!! ❤️
Amazing and fun review Robo! You're going strong !!
Almost a year and still waiting Mafex to reissue this
You're in luck, it's happening this month apparently.
Did you get one? I managed to snag one on stock x. Still waiting for it to arrive.
I came to watch this. I left feeling Watched
Great review Robo. So happy to see how Gambit turned out!
His gloves made sense. He needed open fingers to be able to have skin contact so he could charge the cards.
So what happens when he has a card between his middle two fingers? Huh Fitz? WHAT ABOUT THAT???
@@TheFwoosh He charged them first with his fingers and moved them to his middle fingers! LOL
Also needs the thumb, first finger and pinky exposed so he can do rocker hands
This figure is really great.
Mine is scheduled to arrive today.
Where did you get that soft good jacket for the Legends Gambit? And did you do an arm swap or are his plastic jacket arms inside that soft coat?
I can't remember where I got the jacket but I did swap the arms with a symbiote Spider-Man.
@@TheFwoosh sir please please please please please tell me where you found this figure
I think it was rebel10customs, it was on a play day a while back
Thanks for another high quality review 🙌
11:54 Wow! very pro looking pictures. Impressive.
Best Gambit Ever......YES!!!!!!!
100 Perfect Jim Lee Style Of Gambit
Is this figure sold out already? I cant find it anywhere except for ebay which is over priced
Gambit was such a popular character that ToyBiz released so many variants of the character….. after 2005 you didn’t see him as much….. shame really…
toybiz legends??? coz as far as i remember they only did one
There were not alot of Gambit releases in the 90's. Three figures in his standard outfit from the 5" line. The original '92 figure, light up Gambit in '96, and one for the X-men v Street Fighter line in '98, which was a re-use of the light up figure with a new coat & head. There was also a Gambit released in that Shiar armor he wore in the late 90's. Edited to add: they also had an AOA Gambit as well.
The Robot Fighters line did provide him a single "not accurate to anything" variant that plagued characters like Batman, Wolverine, and Spider-Man in the 90's. Can't think of anything else. really.
@@nasjordan2598 There was the single packed version plus the pleather coat 5-pack version. Was also an X-Treme X-Men Gambit in their X-Men Legends sister line. That one got repainted a couple years later to match his '04-'06 look.
So basically two TB Legends era releases, with a variant of each.
@@nasjordan2598 I am talking about ToyBiz altogether.... Marvel Legends is not the only line that ever released X-Men Characters..... A lot of Gambit figures were released through out the 90's....
@@phily-phil Oh the ever so cliched "Actually response"..... What you listed is far more than Hasbro has released based on the character.... And I could care less about the semantics of what "a lot" means....
Was waiting for this one!
Great figure.👍
Only thing I don't like is the lack of cigarettes for characters that used to smoke in that particular era. C'mon, these are aimed at collectors, older people who long since have taken up smoking, ddn't or gave up on it.
lol look at that pfp..says it all
but yes a thing with a cigar and wolvie too. i don remember gambit being a smoker but i never read the old comics
Another great review! It's a good thing you can paint since his nose is scratched pretty good on one of those heads.
Can the jacket fit on other figs?
I wish Mafex made Grifter Figure from Wild C.A.T.S Mafex is really good at making action figure
Hologram Iron man still lurks as the Watcher is watching you while you are watching the Overview!
Love the og watcher figure... watching!🤣
This is why cloth goods beat traffic cone candy shells for jackets, capes or skirt pieces any day of the week.
This shot 12:04 looks so phenomenal and realistic, i love it!
Watcher!
Also, I love this Gambit
Thanks Robo! Love the Watcher in the back;) Stay Blessed brother!
I wonder how that coat would look on my legend version cause it looks a bit big on him but may fit perfectly on my legends gambit with alternate arms
If you cracked the ML torso, and swapped in Bucky Cap arms, the Mafex jacket fits the ML almost perfectly. A bit tight around the shoulders, but it actually looks great.
I don't think I even cracked the torso, just swapped the arms at the bicep with a symbiote Spider-Man, then popped Gambit hands at the bottom. AT least for the third party jacket I put on my first Legends Gambit.
@@TheFwoosh I remember that. It's how I found Rebel10 customs. Bought a Gambit coat from her too.
@@TheFwoosh I'll probably end up doing the same but I'll use an extra Charles Xavier from that House of X wave
I just now realized that the Watcher is behind the microphone. "I always feel like somebody's watching meeeeee!!!!"
Love the review! I'm so jealous, I was late to get this guy. Reissue pls, Medicom.
12:37 top left "HES WATCHING!"
Best Gambit fig ever, nobody comes close
The watcher is always watching 👀
Was the watcher always there
I just noticed the Watcher!!!!!!😳
Cool figure. I see a dressing gown though not a jacket or trench coat.
The Watcher is watching your review
Robo, did you get the Mezco Gambit? Ive got this on the way, and I’m excited to see how they compare, so I wondered if you’d already done so.
I think I might need this especially because he’s my favorite x-man
Is the watcher watching me
He still loves his yamaguchi more😅😂
Awesome overview Tio Robo 🔥🔥🔪🔪
Mafex makes Bobble heads?
How you did this?
Gabit: with style mon ami with style
I wish I could afford this 😫
Man I want this figure, can't find it anywhere
It was big news like maybe a year ago or something, and the pre-order lasted for months and months. If you don't want to go the straight up social media route for figure news, you can always watch Robo's channel. Every Saturday he does a video on a little variety of new action figure announcements. And there's always popping on a Japanese site like AmiAmi every now and then to see what import figures they have up for pre-order. Feel free to reply back if you need any more information that'll hopefully help you out.
Not sure way happens ro my reply ??? Lol but just wanted to say thank you for the help. I appreciate you
Great video robo why didn't you get magneto?
I don't do AoA. It looked great but I'll wait for a more classic version.
The Watcher is watching.
Fwoosh: I don’t have a lot of experience with cloth goods from Medicom, just a few capes here and there.
MAFEX Peter B. Parker: Am I a joke to you fwoosh??? AM I?!?!?!?!?!?!
When I was picking between the mafex and Mezco gambit I went with Mezco simply because I have the toybiz marvel legends gambit and its held up so well. Side by side toybiz and mafex would be hard to tell apart. Just a testament to how good the toybiz legends figures were for there time :)
And to think some people actually complained about trenchcoat that comes with this figure.... You people should stick with marvel legends
I remember first watching you & thought “ he needs to find his style in reviewing but there’s potential.” Now it’s like “DID THE BOY ROBO KILLAH POST SOMETHING TODAY?!” 😂🤙🏽keep it up bruh💯
5:30 his boots look like metal, so I guess that’s how those boots would work in real life
Robo! And everyone else that reads this, I need help choosing: Mafex Gambit or Mafex Far From Home Spider-Man?
which fffh, they got like 3 diff versions
@@nasjordan2598 upgraded suit, red and black
Both
@@chicomac8450 uhh well whats your website choices coz bbts is sold out fir gamby
@@nasjordan2598 he’s in my pile of loot
This figure is already going for $160, if you’re lucky, and up… the economic model for quality imports is whacked out. You have to buy an already pricey figure a half a year before it comes out, otherwise it seems hopeless.
Watcher is watching everything
What a beauty. Mafex hs been killing with their comic figure so far. Hope you look into Spider-Gwen too
Sold me on it
Gambit first mini series is the best xmen story.
It looks like a very nicely done figure.
Beautiful figure and would have grabbed it if I was more into mafex, and didn’t grab the Mezco gambit but I’m a Mezco guy.
tell me...are the mezco figures actually good with posability coz everytime i see a mezco stop motion the figures are always seen to be stiff.. not fluid enough.
@@nasjordan2598 it depends how much you care about your figure. They have good articulation but it is usually hindered by the cloth goods to a certain extent, if you don’t mind putting some stretch marks, some wrinkles or what not in some of the soft goods the articulation really isn’t hindered. But I’ve never met a person who buys mezcos to destroy their soft goods. The ones with real life clothing like jeans and jackets have the best articulation while other with more pleathers may require you to play safer. I don’t do photography for my figures so I find a pose that will look good while putting minimum wear on the soft goods. Keep in mind pleathers, faux leathers, and polyurethane covered figures require dehumidified rooms and dusting if you want them to be around in good condition in the future.
@@nasjordan2598 I would gladly share photos of my displays so you can see what I mean and make a decision for yourself. When it comes to extreme poses I do enjoy mafex, which is why I have the superman and hush Batman, but I’m also not a fine of seeing joints and articulation… so yeh it’s a collecting choice for sure which requires a little research and a little more care than the average figure. If Mezco didn’t exist I’d probably be a mafex man myself, I just have a hard time paying 155cad for all plastic figures. The Batman and supes had a nice cloth goods cape which is what drew me in, but I use batmans cape to basically cover all his articulation. Another issue I had with mafex is Quality control, lots of UA-camrs had to buy multiple just to get a good one sometimes, which isn’t the reality for most collectors as we don’t make money from collecting. I really do wish figure influencers on UA-cam would go harder on talking about quality control and maintenance of high end figures. I really think it’s a subject that we need to talk about more often so people know what they are getting into.
cloth goods clothes are the line of demarcation between action figures and dolls, plus they never sit right.
Let's not kid ourselves, "action figure" is just a term used to make it socially acceptable for boys to play with dolls. They're all dolls, soft goods or not.
@@TheFwoosh yes but we don’t need to make it more obvious. What next? Barbie hair on gambit and a little comb to brush his hair over in the perfect swoosh? 💇♀️
that watcher is watching me..
Have any aces
Here’s an explosion behind gambits back
Gambit no
Wolverine you win I guess
Gambit walks off leaving cards behind
Wolverine picks up smoking ace
