    I am very excited that I have found you Taro! I am an active, almost 70 yr old but have recently been suffering with a painful left knee. I have been seeing a physical therapist who has given me exercise and stretches to do but the knee pain has only subsided a small amount. I feel there is a lot of things going on in my body that are preventing me from continuing my normal activity level like walking 3 times per week for an hour. I continue to do mat Pilates classes 2-3 times per week and take short walks but the pain in my knee is limiting. I used to be able to sit cross legged on the floor but now I cannot do this. Altho the first video I found of yours was teaching how to sit cross legged and rise from the floor. I was amazed at how well I was able to do that by following your directions. Thus intrigued me so I subscribed to your videos. I am looking forward to learning more from you and the Feldenkrais method.

    This is brilliant! I've almost forgotten that I can do side-sitting on the floor! Thank you, for helping me to reclaim this ability and experience the hip movement patterns freely!

    I am grateful for your videos and the lessons that I stumble upon at the perfect time. I like that this video makes me aware of my ability to breathe in these postures since I currently am stuck in one of them while studying for finals. This was a great time for a break and lesson. Thank you!

    I've been fighting stiffness (overall) since I was in my 20s. I trained in martial arts, and that required a lot of stretching and flexibility. I no longer train, but I do hit the gym 3x a week and utilize the equipment to stretch in a controlled and safe way. The problem is: While muscles can stretch or should stretch, sometimes joints do not ... in spite of a lot of PT ... which I work into my workouts.

    Thank you for this video. I have been observing that my hips have felt a bit tight the last few days and literally just pulled my lower back a little at work yesterday, so this was great timing. I do Cossack squats and knee internal rotations everyday, but realise from this that I need to focus more into the hip than probably the waist, as you point out. I also seem to be getting tight in my hamstrings of late, so wonder if that is the same tight hip issue? Always great to learn something new.

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  9 місяців тому +2

      you're welcome:) hamstrings are a part of hip muscles, so yes a part of the common tight hip issues, that is closely related to our modern lifestyle particularly in Western countries where people adapt to chair and couch lifestyle.

      @@TaroIwamoto @TaroIwamoto Thank you for the reply. Yes. I thought that would unavoidably be the case. And too much sitting will indeed be the cause, as the weather has been lousy of late, so I am sitting more than usual, despite regular exercise (I usually do a manual job outside, so much more motion in a day by comparison.) I will keep working on the hips now I know how to in a more focused way then. Thank you again.
      All the best.

    I can sit with crossed legs and straight back, but if I straighten my legs my back collapse. What does that mean?
    I'm very grateful I've found your channel! I was trying to train to increase my strength and muscle, also want to get rid of some cellulite on my thigh, I'm 42, but found very confusing information out there.
    Now, instead of focusing on quantity I will focus on quality..it will might take longer but at least I won't damage my body 😅

    Ty. I can’t tell if I’m using my hips or waist to turn. Several years ago, I fractured my pelvis is a fall. No surgery, but I was flat on my back for several months. Also, I ruptured my Achilles tendon playing tennis, which did not heal properly. I’m very interested in improving my Asian squat, for all the reasons you’ve explained. I’m not experiencing pain in doing so, but feel a fair amount of strain in my knees. Please advise. Thank you again for your content.
