New Shelby Super Snake Based On Ford S650 Mustang Convertible

Shelby American has expanded its Mustang portfolio with the introduction of the 2024 Super Snake Convertible, a fresh take on the S650-generation of Ford's legendary sports car. This new convertible model not only captures the essence of high-performance engineering but also adds a touch of open-air exhilaration.
The 2024 Super Snake Convertible offers a choice between two robust engine setups. The first is a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V-8, delivering 480 horsepower. For those craving more power, a Whipple supercharged version of this engine is available, pushing out an impressive 830 horsepower. These engines are designed to provide thrilling performance and a dynamic driving experience.
Enhancements to the Super Snake are not limited to its engines. Shelby has reengineered the suspension system to offer sharper handling and more responsive turn-in characteristics. The vehicle also features a high-performance Borla exhaust system that not only enhances exhaust flow but also enriches the auditory experience of the V-8 roar. Stronger brakes and an advanced cooling system have been installed to support the heightened performance.
Visually, the Super Snake Convertible stands out with its aggressive styling and functional aerodynamics. It rolls on 20-inch forged magnesium wheels that are lighter, reducing unsprung mass by about nine pounds per wheel, which significantly improves handling. The convertible also sports a unique aluminum hood, carbon fiber wide-body front fenders, and an aerodynamically efficient ensemble consisting of a new bumper, grille, side rockers, and lower diffuser. Unlike its fastback sibling, the convertible version is adorned with a stylish ducktail spoiler, lending it a distinctive, sleek rear profile.
Inside, the cabin of the Super Snake Convertible is decked out with several Shelby-exclusive features. Embroidered seats and floor mats, Cobra-themed puddle lamps that project the Cobra logo onto the ground, Super Snake-branded door sill plates, and a serialized dashboard plaque all contribute to its unique interior ambiance. Those opting for the manual transmission will enjoy a Shelby-branded shifter ball, enhancing the tactile connection to the car.
Shelby American has yet to announce the pricing for the 2024 Super Snake Convertible but plans to commence production in mid-summer with a limited production run of just 250 units for the year. Each vehicle comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, with the original Ford powertrain warranty also maintained, offering additional peace of mind for prospective owners. As this edition is limited, enthusiasts are encouraged to register their interest promptly to secure one of these exclusive convertibles.
