    This gives me some hope. When I first got my Lee Load All II a few weeks ago, I loaded a bunch of 7/8 ounce (24 gram) loads that the chart says should be around 1200 ft/s -- and then realized all the skeet loads I could find commercially (in North Carolina, USA) are 1 1/8 ounce (32 gram) at about the same velocity. Well, I shot those factory loads my last time out, and wound up with a bruise on my shoulder after three skeet rounds (yes, I know, I probably need to adjust my length of pull) -- next time out, I'll try those lighter payload shells and see if they still do the job (no question they'll be easier on my shoulder). If they work well, they'll save me money on shot as well.

      Don’t reduce your payload too much. My advice would be to reduce your velocity first and see how that feels

      @@GoShooting okay, I can try that. I've got data for 32 gram loads down to 1100 with the powders I have.

    Diamond shot is the best shot, each pellet is also highly polished making the shot maintain velocity for longer. Gamebore cartridges also use the Gordon recoil system
    , reducing the felt recoil by a lot.

    Best channel for learning about the art of breaking clays , however , steady on about us Brits Matilda 🤣 . Seriously excellent content , I just have to put everything into practice now 🤞

    Is the 30 inch circle 30 inches radius, or diameter?

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  4 роки тому

      Diameter. Tedious task, but well worth it if you are looking at comparing the performance of your shot shells or simply how your chokes are varying between different types of ammunition.

    So you guys are only using a 7/8 ounce shot? Because most people I shot with use 1 and 1/8 ounce load. So just curious I know it kicks less but most people I know recommend that

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  2 роки тому

      We always recommend that you use the maximum amount of shot that the rules allow for the discipline you are shooting in. That’s only if you want to win of course, otherwise use something less

      @@GoShooting I I homeload my cartridges, in English sporting competition were only allowed 28 grams with max shot size 6 , I load 34 grams of 8s into a 70mm case , improved cylinder choke both barrels and pick up the prize every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    How does shot size figure in? Why do they make 7 1/2 and 8 shot?

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  2 роки тому +1

      Bigger shot for bigger distances

    Question... what about Kent diamond shot? Supposedly superior... I know it's super hard high antomony lead.

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  4 роки тому +3

      Great shot, but you will find it is size as well as hardness that will cause very hard composition clays to break at distance mate. Remember too much antimony causes lead shot too lose its density therefore 5% is about as high as you can go.

    Hi,
    I think you forgeting the gun powder...!
    2 gun powders can produce the same energy and velocity but diferent recoil because of the diferent burning velocity!

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  4 роки тому +3

      I doubt that. The 3rd law of motion is pretty clear. Burning velocity is not part of the equation.

    • @JorgeSantos-nl8he
      @JorgeSantos-nl8he 4 роки тому +1

      Why use slower burning gun powder on heavier cartridges,isn't that to reduce recoil?
      I think that,if you use 2 diferente powders,with diferent burning velocity,to achieve the same velocity on a same weight cartridge,yuo will get more recoil on the one that uses the faster burning gun powder!
