Well... Think about what motivates people of those professions. It cannot be the salaries. So if that is not the motivation then it is probably either because they find it fun or because they like the idea of serving the community in a meaningful way. People tend to marry people that share their value systems.
I’ve noticed this trend too. I’m a nurse married to a firefighter. I have found that nursing is the most common occupation of the firefighters wives. Even one wife was assumed to be a nurse by a different firefighter and she was like, “I’m not a nurse.” I think she worked in HR at the time.

My wife was a RN and became a stay at home wife…..but…..met her at a retail store we both worked at. I was just beginning to take Fire Science classes and she was taking her prerequisites classes. I think FF and nurses come from similar backgrounds
Its because all have unique schedules. Nurses work all different hours, teachers have whole summers off, hairdressers are also commong because of schedule. This makes it easier to date, see each other and eventually deal with kids and scheduling.

We meet a ton of nurses when we go to the hospitals, and we meet a ton of teachers when we do things like fire drills, fire safety training, and station tours. Just a guess. I'm not married to a teacher or nurse, but I've met tons of them, and im constantly exposed to them. Where I'm from, there's a pretty ugly culture regarding firefighters and nurses dating, and we encourage our rookies to stay away from them. There's been some pretty bad situations that always seem to pop up when firemen date nurses.
