I have listened to this piece well over 400 times now and continue to be amazed by this man's genius, musicality, and virtuosity. Even the great Raphael Mendez might have a little trouble with parts of this arrangement
I've listened to this several times, and it blows me away every time! Nakariakov is one of my favorite trumpeters. He is definitely among the best to ever walk this earth. If I can ever play with half the musicality, expression, control, accuracy, consistency, tone, and passion as he demonstrates in this recording, as well as many others I have heard, I will be one happy trumpeter. The virtuosity with which Sergei plays this almost brings me to tears because it is so fantastic.
How can anyone give Sergei a thumbs down ? The only thing that anyone can give Sergei a thumbs down to , is the numpty leadership of his Native Country!!!!
This piece was recorded in November/December 1999. Nakariakov was born in 1977, so he was 22. So not in his late 20's as I said before, didn't check ;) Even if not in his teens, still incredibly impressive
I personally feel he shouldn't sound like anyone else but himself! Maurice Andre set the bar very high but the beauty behind all of this is having your own sound while adhering to certain rules!
I've only been listening to him for about the last 2 weeks but...WOW! He is about as technically perfect as any trumpet player I have ever heard. I thought, until now, that Maurice Andre held that spot. Move over Maurice!
my 1.5 year old son adores this piece, it helps him to relax when he is crying, to concentrate on his play, he is just curiously and carefully listening for every note. This is so interesting!!!
Wow! I have loved this piece on violin for years and had doubts a trumpet could do it justice. A trumpet can't, but Sergei Nakariakov can. What a tone! Obviously some parts had to be lowered, but very little. I am beyond impressed!
As for all the wildly extravagant praise of this trumpet player in this blog-I agree with every word of it. This guy is so guy is SO good it's incomprehensible.
He is among those trumpet players that adding more pieces to trumpet repertoire by his remarkable technics! Current trumpet repertoire is small for him! Different level musicians!
Listening to this give me hope ( to play it one day even if I know I won't play it like you or like someone who can play it ), make me feel better , and that is Thanks to you Sergei !!!
@SergeiNakursoksoff He definitely can do this in one take. I"ve heard him play in Montreal a few years back and what he does is just amazing. if you have a chance to see him live, just go :)
why wouldn't he be able to play this in one take? I'm sure he's played this piece in concerts too. Yes, he does circular breathing starting in 7:36 and was really 22 when he played it :)
No matter how many times I listen to this, I am in complete awe. I have the music and it is very difficult to not sound terrible while trying to play all the notes on the page. Well everyone starts somewhere I guess.... Maybe I'll be able to play this in a few years, but not anytime soon.
I can't even play this on my violin yet -.- i fail and he succeeds ;DD. I saw somebody doing this on a flute but i never knew you could do this on a trumpet. Im amazed...
inspiring and helpful listening. gives me the love required to enjoy the taste of work ☺ I'll work this every day from now on, maybe ill play it but never as clear in the stacatto as him 😥
8:14-He doesn't take a single breath for a good 30 seconds!! Holy shit haha it's hard enough doing that itself, let alone blowing air continuously out of an instrument
Sure Clint. You may have a point. Why don't you post a recording of you playing this and we can all hear what you mean. Personally, I'm not sure if I've heard another trumpet player with such command over the instrument coupled with such beautiful musical artistry. But that's just my opinion. And what do I know…
Mike, Hilarious :) No one wants to hear ME play this. I'm a former trumpet player who tried to get good at it but was a decent college player at best. I'm still a trumpet lover who, though I might struggle through these notes, would certainly sound worse than Sergei. Hence the reference to Maurice and Hakan (and even Wynton Marsalis), all of whom could play much better than I ever could. But for the past 15-20 years, every time I listen to Sergei, I always think "Wow! That's SO fast and perfect - yet so strident and annoying." He will amaze and never miss a note, but he still makes my ears hurt. I could be wrong. Really, does no one else hear this?!
+Clint Phillips i respect your opinion but i disagre can you understand that tounging at that speed can sound alittle bit dry but no strident and annoying please sorry for my bad english
If/when you perform it, I would LOVE to hear it! I'm working on it right now (on trumpet) and it just seems impossible to play at tempo! It's not really an issue on the fingers... it's double tonguing all of those ridiculous intervals... low B to high B... F! F***, that is :-P SERGEI FOR PREZ!
if i ever played half as good as this id drop out of high school. this is ridiculous though. seriously. im a texas all state high school player and i never knew our instrument could do this. WTF. GO TRUMPET
I have listened to this piece well over 400 times now and continue to be amazed by this man's genius, musicality, and virtuosity. Even the great Raphael Mendez might have a little trouble with parts of this arrangement
he is totally free - what a feeling for every note!
he brings me back after a long break.
did start again -
thank you Sergei

I'm with you. I played Trumpet for 15 years and he is in a class of his own..
I'm absolutely amazed how flawlessly Nakariakov plays even the hardest passages
How can anyone give Sergei a thumbs down ? The only thing that anyone can give Sergei a thumbs down to , is the numpty leadership of his Native Country!!!!
In an elite class all by himself. A trumpet technician to the highest degree!
Bravissimo Sergei! Fantastic playing!
I just want to add the composer of this amazing piece:
Camille Saint-Saens
What a performance!!
The first time I heard him was "Swan" from the Carnival of Animals. It brought tears to my eyes. Awesome is an understatement.
This piece was recorded in November/December 1999. Nakariakov was born in 1977, so he was 22. So not in his late 20's as I said before, didn't check ;)

I've only been listening to him for about the last 2 weeks but...WOW!

Obviously some parts had to be lowered, but very little. I am beyond impressed!
I played Trumpet for 15 years in my younger days. This young man is in a class by himself. Utterly AMAZING!
As for all the wildly extravagant praise of this trumpet player in this blog-I agree with every word of it. This guy is so guy is SO good it's incomprehensible.
Astounding. Nakariakov is incredible.
Wonderful! Amazing Interpretation!
I heard him many years ago playing in Maulbronn/Germany, he was so great.
I've often stated that Latinos have the fastest tongues, however, after hearing this, I'm not so certain.
aw man this sounds even cooler with the trumpet, I've never heard of this piece done with a brass instrument before :D
Trumpet is not a brass instrument hahaha
but I agree with you it sounds cooler than with a violin
Trumpet is brass
trumpet is part of the brass family you moron lmfao
That's because there's basically no-one else who could play it like this on Trumpet.
sergei is... there is no word to say.
If only my grandfather could have listen to this
@SergeiNakursoksoff He definitely can do this in one take. I"ve heard him play in Montreal a few years back and what he does is just amazing. if you have a chance to see him live, just go :)

Totally amazing! Brilliant. Bravo
he's a real master,one of the bests:)
why wouldn't he be able to play this in one take? I'm sure he's played this piece in concerts too.
Yes, he does circular breathing starting in 7:36 and was really 22 when he played it :)

Now it's been over a year since I posted the comment, and I'm a whole lot better of a trumpet player than I was then, but I'm still completely in awe.
I can't even play this on my violin yet -.-
i fail and he succeeds ;DD. I saw somebody doing this on a flute but i never knew you could do this on a trumpet. Im amazed...

8:14-He doesn't take a single breath for a good 30 seconds!! Holy shit haha it's hard enough doing that itself, let alone blowing air continuously out of an instrument
Check out the concept of circular breathing, pretty cool stuff!
It works without circular breathing too
just................ RESPECT

it's hard to even imagine a better version of this piece, even on violin.
Very well.I can even compare with the great maestro Timofei Dokshitser
Great!
AMAZING!!!!
