    What a wonderful player! Getting caught up in analysis of his performance prevents you from simply enjoying this piece. I have always been a fan of his style, Super Clean, Super Rubato!
    Every different player has their own take on this, and I wouldnt have it any other way.

      Imagine practicing the trumpet for over 10,000 hours. Sergei prolly did that before he turned 18 lol

      @@devinfavara5226 that's not a lot in reality, if you practiced just 30 minutes a day for two years you would have practiced more than 10k hours. I've been playing for 5 years, and I'm not as good as him.

      But do you really think that AV is better tonally and technically? I think that Vizzuti does some things that no one in the world can do, but Sergei does 90% of that stuff with having a much more musical style than Alan. Just my thoughts.... I’ve just never heard anyone better in my life than Sergei. He’s flawless.

      @@CurtisL8.3066 this whole thing is subjective, i just mentioned him because so many people love his style of playing, and the insane technicallyhe has shown. Do i have a favorite trumpet player, no, i just enjoy the music. Plus picking favorites in this kind of situation can lead to very toxic arguments that all participants look like jackasses.

      My orchestra also played this (I play double bass), the part I got wasn't amazing or anything but I loved playing it.

    My hobby is to listen to as many players as possible (hopefully it will rub off) and this performance really motivated my. I especially love the dynamics in this piece

    I wish clarinet solos were like this...
    Ours are just ridiculous. They make little sense.
    This is one is melodic. It has an idea. And that idea is expanded. I love it.

      Yes. The concerto is not difficult part by part, not very high notes, but keep playing for the two last lines of the cadenza is horrible :(

      Don't most players? I don't know that I've ever heard anyone perform their own cadenza in performance or recording. If you know of any such recordings or videos, please let me know.
      By the way, and you may already know this, this concerto was heavily criticized on it's release. It wasn't until Dokshitzer's performances and recordings with his cadenza that it really gained serious attention and became a trumpet standard.

    Nakariakov plays this very well, technically it is perfect. However, for real beauty and musicality, nobody approaches Dokshizer. His understanding of phrasing is unmatched.

    Brilliant recording! Different, but by no means less valid than any of the others... i mean, the piece is "russian," so there's no doubt that Sergei would have something very fascinating to say with his interpretation.

      This piece was written for Timofei Dokschitzer, who was Russian, so that's why. He is sort of the Grandfather of this piece.

      Gabriel Brown wrong, harutyunyan wrote it for someone else but this trumpeter died before the piece was finished so dokshitzer played it🤷‍♀️

      This was composed for Haikaz Messian , Armenian , but later performed by Dokshiirser and the composer is Armenian

      Yes it is....composed by Alexander Arutunian, a russian. And it fits very well in the russian style.

      Мелодии армянские, но время сочинения оставило свой отпечаток. Тогда , при СССР, требовалось писать жизнеутверждающую музыку,мелодичность , пасторальные интонации-армянские!
