    • @Cyntaria
      @Cyntaria Місяць тому

      @@Tranewrekk lol no? You're giving instructions to ninite, you are downloading this ninite installer, that installer then looks at the instructions you've given and goes to the publishers' official websites, downloads the installers for the 64 bit versions and runs them. You click through each installer yourself as if you opened them yourself. You don't even have to install them through ninite if you don't want to, you can just get it to download the installers and manually click through each one and check or uncheck boxes, choose install location like you normally would. You can even check before you open them to make sure they're the official installers. Ninite isn't installing anything if you don't want it to. You can just use it to download everything instead of going to each site yourself. It's literally just automating the downloading and opening of installers.
      Tell me you don't know what ninite is without telling me you don't know what ninite is.

    I'm all for convenience, but at the end of the day, they are a third-party company that you are relying on to not make a mistake or do something nefarious. There is really no accountability with stuff like this, and you have to make an effort to verify for yourself that nothing nefarious is going on and not get complacent. Otherwise, you end up in another source forge type situation or worse.

    • @Cyntaria
      @Cyntaria Місяць тому +6

      I mean, it's possible but it's just as likely as any other program. You're also not downloading a package from the website, you're downloading a program that automates the process it for you. Ninite needs an internet connection because those programs you choose on the website just instruct the ninite installer you downloaded to go to the official websites for those programs and download the latest 64-bit version's exe file then run it. You still click through the installer as normal. All it does is download everything for you and open them so you can install everything in one go. The installers are downloaded to your computer as normal.
      I've been using ninite with no issue for years, since I changed my boot drive to an NVME and did a fresh windows install god like 5 or 6 years ago. I was sceptical at first but I did my research and it's safe.

    • @yacquubfarah6038
      @yacquubfarah6038 3 місяці тому +4

      What are the prices? If the 4070 ti is like 620ish then just go for the 7900 gre and spend the money on other parts. The 7900 gre has great performance and if you want to use ray tracing it isn't so bad but you'll have a better experience on the 4070 ti. But unless you play singleplayer heavy RT games the 7900 gre is amazing value.

    • @freudia
      @freudia 3 місяці тому +1

      At the same price ($550), probably the 4070 Ti. They're about the same in raster performance, but the 4070 Ti is much better at raytracing and has access to DLSS features. 7900 GRE does have 4GB more VRAM which could future proof it better, but for now 12GB is good enough for 1440p and 4K gaming (there are edge cases where 12GB isn't enough for 4K).
      If you plan to use the PC for more than just gaming e.g. streaming, video editing, 3D rendering, etc. etc. then even more reason to go with the 4070 Ti.
      Edit: It's unlikely to find a 4070 Ti at $550 unless it's used, so I'd go with 4070 Ti over 7900 GRE as long as it's no more than $600.

    I'm using ninite to install JDK, JVM, Python, Discord and Zoom. I've got everything else in the portable versions. This way I can reinstall Windows without a hatch.
    The main meta for making sure that your Windows installation is clean is to setup the temporary files directory into a different folder. Both the system and user ones(except when you have multiple user accounts but that's the story for another day) into the single folder. But you gotta be sure that you clean out both the user temp folder and the folder that you've created since some programs hardcode, instead of using system variables(i can see sense in this because majority of the people will have it there by default). If something breaks fatally in the system or Windows Update will screw over with some files, I can reinstall Windows and be ready in under an hour, because I have all the backups.
