Ive applied to Chapman, working on applying to USC, UCLA, LMU, and Syracuse. Low key panicking that I won't get in anywhere... Really hope some miracle occurs and I end up at one of these
Do you think that having a very high GPA is a necessity to getting into a school like USC or more so SAT score, Essay and extra carricular activities? USC is my dream school and hoping to get in next year

+Brent USC's admissions process is really wholistic. GPA and SAT scores aren't all they look at. Of course they help but there are people in SCA that didn't have top tier GPAs and SAT scores but are here because of everything else in their application. Be sure to put in time to fine tune your essay! Make it unique and make sure your voice comes through. Be sure to make your writing supplements personal and meaningful and make sure your visions and passions are clearly displayed! Lastly, be as involved as you can be. Let them know that you're just as much of a person outside of the classroom as you are inside of it! AND DON'T WAIT LAST MINUTE TO DO APPS!

Nice video! Currently waiting to hear back from USC and 1 other school and I'm in the same boat you were in as far as the application process, so this was a very helpful video for me. Congrats on your recent growth. Love the style of your videos especially because most vlogs seem like the Casey Neistat format, yet yours has its own style and originality to it.
As a senior one thing I've noticed about USC is that they give very little shits about your GPA and SAT scores. I've had friends this year with a 4.2 who got rejected but friends with a 3.8 who got accepted. The only difference was their extracurriculars. The kids that got accepted may not have had great GPAs but they had a huge list of things they did outside of school. I feel like USC looks more at that than just plain grades.

What a story! I love the way the camera kept sliding in after each distraction. It set the video up for a humorous overtone and then you hit us with the story. Like bam! All the feels. Congrats Justin!
I was reading UCLA sucks all over the comments and I was like wow I'm definitely not going if this many people say it's this bad. Then I read the description. Lesson learned.

USC is looking for people with personality and the ability to tell stories. Also, get started as soon as you possibly can!

USC is my dream school. Besides a good GPA and SAT or ACT score. Did the things besides your essay and your recommendation letters play a huge role in your acceptance ? For instance extracurricular s such as clubs and volunteer work.
That's the part that is really important to USC. they love to have students who have great communication and people skills. I got a letter from my mentor from film camp and also showed how much I worked on photography and film in high school. Don't worry though, I started getting into film in junior year

Hey, I just started watching your videos about a week ago and I was surprised that I found out that you went to USC. USC is my absolute dream college but I'm not quite sure I can even go in. Although I am just a sophomore in high school, I messed my gpa last year because I didn't care too much. I was in honors English in my freshman year but I had received a 60% and most of my classes from freshman year I had C's because like I had said, I didn't care (which is my biggest regret so far in my life). I want to be able to get into USC for filming but because of how messed up my GPA is now, would it still be possible? Or am I just wasting my time trying to strive for it? Either way, this year and the next 2 years of my high school career, I am actually trying to get my GPA up. What was your grades like in high school?

Apply in your senior year, but Get into as many clubs as possible and get good grades right now. If you dont get in, then go to a community college or university and then transfer, but you'll also need to have good grades and extracurriculars

Hey man! I recently decided that I wanted to study film and of COURSE USC up. Unfortunately I made some bad decisions with grades so I'm currently repairing the damage. I start my senior year in two weeks and have about a 3.1ish gpa with a 27 ACT but I plan on raising that to a 30. I don't have a short film but I have been told by my English teachers that I'm a very good writer and I know essays are important. Do you think there's a way for me to either write an essay good enough to make up for not having a short film or should I try to film something before I apply? Any other tips so of be greatly appreciated.

Have you ever though about NYU?
So Justin I looked up USC and it has an 8% acceptance rate. It's my dream school, but I don't know how I could differentiate myself from other students. I'm not too sure about my GPA, but I play two sports (baseball and football), I do a lot of community service over the summer teaching kids how to play baseball at a local camp, and I have a (somewhat unsuccessful) UA-cam channel, but I don't think that counts for much. Any tips on how to differentiate yourself and maybe how you stood out among all of teh other applicants?
