As I was editing I realized when the camera ran out of battery a lot of the footage was cut out and I didn't feel like filming again LOL so I'll just give the missing info here:
Essentially I discussed the application for USC and what I found to be helpful. Since there is the option to put 2 letter of recs (one from an educational institution and one from work/job), I asked the head of my department to write my letter of rec. If possible, you should try to ask one of your major professors rather than a professor you took for a GE class. This means you should try your best to talk to your professors throughout the course and really show them that you’re passionate about the subject matter.
Along with the letter of recs, there is the option for 3 essay questions. The first one is 650 words and it's basically why you want to transfer to USC. You also have to answer 2 supplemental essays, both 250 words. Of these two essays, you have the ability to select a prompt, so I suggest choosing a prompt that will allow you to talk about something you haven’t already mentioned in your application (the admissions officers want to see you are well-rounded and don’t want to see you talking about the same thing throughout the entire application).
Besides the application, you need to make sure you turn in your official transcripts from both your high school (if you’re applying as a sophomore) and the school you’re transferring from.
Hopefully this information helped!

THIS IS THE VIDEO I NEEDED THANK YOU SO MUCH
I'm so glad we could help!!
So glad I found this video! I didn’t get into usc this year and know I want to transfer from the school I will be attending this fall (LSU). I’m SO glad you mentioned that high school grades don’t matter as much, because I only started getting good grades jr/sr year, so I still had a low hs gpa. This was so helpful :)
Yayy! I'm so glad the video helped! Good luck with the transfer process :))

Essentially I discussed the application for USC and what I found to be beneficial.
Within the application, there is the option to put 2 letter of recs (one from an educational institution and one from work/job), I asked the head of my department (Political Science) to write my letter of rec which I think really helped my application. If possible, you should try to ask one of your major professors rather than a professor you took for a GE class. This also means that you should try to build good relationships with your professors and show that you're really passionate about what you're learning.

Thank you for posting ! I gonne show my 7th grader this video , he has bigger dreams but I want him to face the reality of how fierce the competition is now , and especially in the future
Thank you so much for the video guys. It really covers a lot of essential information that a lot of people need to be able to apply to UC's. I was wondering if you guys could share your essays with us so that we have an idea of what we should talk about and how to start it and end it and so on. Thank you so much again!!!
Hi Saif! I'm glad the video could help! I addressed my common app essay in this video if you wanna check it out: ua-cam.com/video/n4fdcylHMk4/v-deo.html
thank you so much!! i got waitlisted at ucsd, so i’m pretty sure i’m committing to uh manoa before may 1st, but if i do that then i would try to transfer to usc. this is definitely the more expensive option compared to going to community and then a uc though, but i’m just so unsure because i never imagined myself going to a community college before and i know that hawaii would be such a great experience for me...
Hi Sonya, with either option you choose I'm certain you'll end up in the place you're meant to be (as cheesy as that sounds lmao), but if you want my advice, I think you should think about if going to hawaii is what you really want or if you're scared of the idea of going to a community college. Personally, I think going to community college is an amazing opportunity as you're saving so much money. The stigma surrounding community college is really sad and dumb imo because people are given another chance to get into the college of their dreams.
You should also think about if you would be willing to spend all 4 years at hawaii if, worst case scenario, you aren't able to transfer out. If you can't imagine yourself there then honestly I would suggest going to community college. Hopefully this helped you get a sense of your options! But again, with any decision you make, I'm sure you'll make the most of it :)
Any advice to fight against CC Stigma.
Tysm for all the info you two are really sweet!!
THIS WAS SOOO HELPFUL THANK YOUUU
Amazing ! Thank you for your helpful information 👍
I thought USC asked for SAT/ACT scores if an applicant had completed under 30 units?
Hi Daniela! Yes, if you're applying as a sophomore USC will ask you to send in your sat/act scores since at the time of applying you've only completed around 15 units. Lmk if you have any other questions!!
Thank you so much! It was very useful
I am attending Cal Poly Pomona and, I was wondering a few questions. How did you guys know which classes to take that would also transfer over to USC/UCLA since there isn't an "ASSIST" equivalent to this process? Also, am I able to transfer only by reaching the required prerequisites for USC/UCLA or, would I also be required to finish all the GEs required by Cal Poly Pomona?
im not sure about ucla but usc has a transfer planning guide & articulation agreement for four year universities! im at a four year currently and the transfer planning guide has helped me so much with planning my classes
Omg this is a sign BC I go to cpp & my dream school is usc so I’m fs gonna do it thank y’all 😊
Omg I love you guys thanky you so much.
Thank you guys!!
Is it possible to still transfer in one year without having any prior units through ap classes in high school
Hi guys,
First of all, thank you so much for both of you. Both of you worked so hard for the video and spent your valuable time on the people, especially the students like me who had no idea about community college and the transfer process.
Now I have two questions for NICOLE because I am going to my local community college (LACC)the next Fall semester and want to major in psychology. UCLA is my dream school. I had no AP credit because I am an immigrant student(came last year to the USA). So my number 1 question is do I need to take a counseling class as a first-semester student? I talked to my counselor(I didn’t like her planning though) and she suggested taking two counseling classes, one psych class, and one English class for Fall. But I want to take math and bio class instead of counseling.
And my number 2 question is Can I get your educational plan? because I think it will be very helpful for me if I get an educational planner from a student who transfers to UCLA as a psych major Like the classes you have taken besides AP credit. ( I want to know what classes you have taken to fulfill 90 qt units.).I want to mention that I want to transfer in two years.
very helpfull !!
THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG
Can I go to a community college in cali even though I live out of state. To take advantage of TAP?
What if I want to transfer from UCLA to Columbia?
Hi! Were you in the honors program in your cc?
did you or both of you take multiple community colleges at the same time? you took 5 winter classes from one cc or two ccs or three ccs?
If my major requires me to take 2 years of a foreign language, would that make it impossible to transfer in 1 year? Is there any programs I could to accelerate credit for a foreign language? (My high school doesn’t offer any AP foreign language classes)
Hii i just wanted to know if it was possible to transfer to UCLA as a freshman ( if I complete around33 credits my first year) in the arts and architecture department or not
Hi! So I applied to USC before the deadline and sent in most of my transcripts except from one college which I took dual enrollment because I have holds so I can get them and I'm trying to pay those off in time. Would that cause my application to be rejected if I send it in super late? I'm really nervous about that. I applied as a transfer because I'm in community college rn
You get in?
@@barsaa._. nah but I’m at Emerson!
I am currently attending a cal state but my dream school is UCLA. However, I am already going to complete my sophomore year this semester, Do you think transferring to a community college for my junior year and doing the TAP program would be a good idea to get into UCLA for my senior year at least. PLS if anyone can assist with this question that be so helpful I am so confused on what to do lol.
I heard from a CC counselor that there is a difference in transferring with 24 units vs. 60 units. Do ;you know what they're talking about?
How did you take five classes in the winter if most colleges only allow one? Did you apply to multiple colleges for winter classes?
She took classes in other community colleges
What if my university is already paid for off scholarships but I still want to transfer better route is cc?
this fall (2022) is my first year at uh manoa, and i think i’m going to transfer after spring semester. When should i start to apply to other colleges if I don’t have any transcripts / grades yet?
So you can enroll into more then 1 cc and take classes at both? Thanks for the video 😊
I want to transfer in UC Davis or UC Irvine, they aren't the same exact major (neurobiology) is that still possible to transfer after one year?
Hi Natalia! It will definitely be very difficult to transfer in one year if you're applying as a neurobiology major because there's a lot of prereqs and courses you're going to need to take before you can transfer!
Sydney Olay Ah, I see that’s understandable too. Did you find it hard trying to make sure to fill out all all the pre recs for different schools? Sorry for all these questions, I got into Davis but because of finances my father wanted me to go to CC and I was kind worried that it would be hard to transfer into UC Davis, which it will but still possible. I guess the idea of going to a CC kind of just scared me since it’s a different pathway and there’s no guarantee that I will be able to get into Davis. I’m just trying to see CC was a way to branch off to many different opportunities and give me another chance to try to get into Irvine as well.
Do you know how much IB credit counts for ?
did you do the tag program?
No I didn't! Since I was a one year transfer, I wasn't eligible to do so.
Which community college you were?
Where can I find the usc councilors in my area?
Hi Kimberly! You can use this link: admission.usc.edu/find-your-counselor/ to help you find your counselor! Just type in your school's name or the area you're transferring from and it will show you the counselor you can use to contact :)
Would you recommend me going to Cal poly Pomona or a CC if I want to transfer to USC as a sophomore?
I heard CC is the better route, but I’m on the fence....
I applied as a sophomore with good high school GPA and so far good college GPA. Ig I’m nervous but who isn’t?! Around what time did they inform u if u were accepted to USC? And how did u go about submitting ur final transcripts
P0IS0N_12 did you get in??
Hi!! I got accepted at the end of May! They start accepting transfers on May 1st and then after that it's rolling. I know some people who got accepted as late as the end of July. As for the transcripts, if you're referring to spring semester/quarter grades, I submitted them as soon as my grades were out! I hope this helped, pls lmk if you have any other questions! I'm sorry for such a delayed reply!!
Can we switch our major after transferring? And can we choose to double major?
Yes you definitely can switch your major if you're coming in as a sophomore. I'm not too sure about if you're transferring in as a junior, but I'm pretty sure it's possible. You can still choose to double major as well, but you would probably have to stay for an extra year depending on your major.
Sydney Olay Would internationals attending a California community college get the same priority as US residents when transferring to UCs or USC?
Sydney Olay thank you for answering the previous question :)
not as a Bio major ):
Why did you decide to transfer in one year?
To transfer to a UC, is business gonna be a hard major?
I had the same question, I wanted to know of it was also hard or easy to transfer in a year with business major in mind
yes
how many ap courses did you get credit for??
Does USC care about which college you transfer from? Or can it be any college anywhere in the states?
do you have a recommended community college for trasnfer to usc/ucla
It honestly depends on where you live and the community colleges nearby! If you're from the bay area, I would recommend going to De Anza College or Foothill College!
I recommend Santa Monica community college.
Pasadena city college is like like 3 in transferring to USC
Do you have to graduate with an AA in psychology or did you just transfer into a four year without the AA?
Hi Nayeli! You can transfer into a four year without an AA--it's not a requirement to have one in order to transfer. Hopefully this helps!
It definitely looks better to transfer with an associates tho, and it shows that you'll be more prepared for whatever major ur transferring into if you have an associates in it. + If something happens that stops you from completing ur bachelors you'll at least have your associates
@@madiganskipper1704 thanks for your advice!! :)
@@sydneyolay4963 Thanks, I will take that into consideration!
Did your schools ask for your sat/act scores?
If you're applying to USC as a sophomore, they will ask for your sat/act scores. As for UCLA, they will not ask for your act/sat scores. sorry for replying so late but hopefully this helped!
hehehehahahahhaa you two are so cute omg syd 🥺
ahah love you pheebs
What is CAP? And how do I apply to it?
TAP
I thought u could only tranfer to ucla as a junior
Hi Siv! Yes, you can only transfer to the UCs as a junior, but you can accumulate enough units (90 quarter units or 60 semester units) in one year to be able to transfer in as a junior but technically be the age of a sophomore! Hopefully this helps, lmk if you have any other questions!
Sydney Nicole so say I already have all my prerequisites done but i only have 40 credits, can i still apply?
@@egirI Hi! You need to make sure you have at least 90 quarter units or 60 semester units in order to get accepted. Unfortunately the UCs won't accept you because you won't have enough credits (a requirement set by the UCs).
Sydney Nicole Wait so if I accumulate 60 in my first year then I can get in as a sophomore but technically be a junior?
@@byAresfx no, you will be considered as a junior, so it's basically like you skipped a year. hopefully this makes sense, lmk if you have any other questions :)
Do you need to get a 5 on the ap test for it to be counted as a credit?
Usually a 4 minimum but, some school do accept 3
Hi Ria! I'm so sorry for such a late reply, but mostly 4 are accepted. Here's a link for info on AP credit for USC: arr.usc.edu/services/articulation/adv_placement_exam_credit.html. I hope this helped!!
Chiii 📚
HOLLLL UPPPPP Don't you need 60 credits to get into UC and USC. How did you get 60 in one year??
Because she took summer & winter classes between quarters AND already had AP credit from HS.
Good lord she talks too too much girl in white almost 18 min... 😬
