  • This is just a quick tutorial on how to replace the factory intercooler with an aftermarket one. This is specifically for the m235i, but I would bet the process is very similar for all cars with the N55 engine.

    Thanks for all your videos. I love my m235 and you've been helping me get comfortable working on it!

    Hey mate, very nice video, removing bumper makes it much smoother experience especially if swapping charge pipe same time, but totally doable the way you have done it, you and I have very similar mods, I have m2, looking forward for turbo upgrade video 😊

      We'll see! Lol. I think I'll start with flex fuel since I can gain quite a bit with fuel alone

      On a M2 you have to remove the bumper. On the mlite you dont

    Great vid man! I'll be doing this in a couple weeks, I haven't decided on FMIC+charge pipe yet, who did you go with and have you been happy with them? I think I'm going VRSF.

      Never mind, just spotted your previous charge pipe install vid with the parts list! Have you been happy with VRSF?

      @@sonicgli So far so good! I figure they all perform really close and the VRSF was cheaper and looked like it was good quality. No complaints here!

    Loving this m235i build series makes me want to get one and do it too I’m hoping you resolved that issue on the last episode and also are you going to do an exhaust mod for the car?

    • @ame7165
      @ame7165  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback! The issue seems to be gone in warm weather so it might be fuel. I'll see if it comes back this coming winter. As for exhaust, I'll probably leave it stock since it's my daily driver and I like being able to drive it fast without attracting the fuzz lol

      AME haha sounds reasonable and i have a question when it comes to looking for one of these what’s a good mileage range to choose from and other red flags I can look out at for

      @@fukjabi mine was $25k with 33k miles, interior/exterior was pristine. n55 is pretty solid motor so i wouldn't worry much. good luck!

    What brand is the upgrade FMIC? I was looking over the DINAN one and the instructions they provided require the removal of the front bumper. Im lazy so I like your method better.

    • @ame7165
      @ame7165  5 років тому

      VRSF. Just beware that my method requires bending that plastic quite a bit lol. Do at your own risk! Good luck sir

    Awesome videos man. I am looking to buy a 2016 M235i with 23k miles and can’t wait. What do you recommend for the first upgrades?

    • @ame7165
      @ame7165  5 років тому

      Flash tune was the biggest improvement for the money. It depends on what your goal is

      @brandonm1292 5 років тому

      Thanks man. Ya honestly I have been looking at a lot of youtube videos. I was thinking exhaust and intake than tune. Have you taken the M235i out on the track?

    • @ame7165
      @ame7165  5 років тому +1

      Exhaust never hurts! I haven't tracked it but i used to have an m2 that I did track and it was great

    What size torx on the intercooler.

  • @Bsquaredplus2

    Was there any noticeable increase in power or was it more a cooling benefit?

    • @ame7165
      @ame7165  3 роки тому

      i didn't notice any. perhaps on a super hot summer day it would eventually show a difference

    The tabs on your FMIC have to overlap the tabs on the radiator fan. Yours are not fitted in properly.

    • @ame7165
      @ame7165  5 років тому

      Yeah I saw that during installation but couldn't get it in with moderate force so I left it. It's not going anywhere so I'm not concerned
