  • A plastic charge pipe, how could you? Come on BMW... At least VRSF gives a lifetime warranty, so if more power gets added later we're covered. The charge pipe, intercooler, and boost pipe are mods you have to install ASAP. Preventative maintenance comes second (immediate maintenance is first). Now that we have increased the reliability of the m235i we have more options.

    Fritz- due to this video, it gave me the confidence I needed to do the job myself and save around $500 in shop install fees. I was just able to install a new Wagner intercooler and a Evolution Race works charge pipe. It was tricky getting that old charge pipe out but I got it! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for your excellent video.

    Thanks a million for the downpipe install vid. Brother and I put it in last week, and it's pure win. Stock downpipe gets sold this coming week, and almost pays for VRSF Chargepipe and VRSF 6.5" comp HD intercooler. This vid will help a lot on next weekends project, so thank you again. Did couple BM3 Stage 1 OTS 93 pulls at 86F ambient. Initial IAT 96-100F, and would end 4th-5th gear pulls at 139F IAT... Only gonna get hotter here in Houston, TX.

    Recently upgraded my charge pipe from plastic to aluminum. Intetcooler AND boost pipes might be the next piece of work.
    I did have a thin film of oil inside, I bet it's normal operation for 2017 F15 X5 xDrive35i because it has a PCV valve connected to the charge pipe. On your M235i it seems you don't have a PCV valve (that you plugged with a mini hose clamp).

Should I flash my 8 speed auto & do the change in cooling temp option as I live in HI?, Also I have a newer but stock (sigh) charge pipe that was replaced when it was under warranty and it popped about 2 years ago. Fritz Ramos great shop in Fremont, CA is Edge Motorworks. Took my car to 3 shops that had “5 star” yelp reviews and like 100+ reviews. They were not very in depth knowledgeable about bmws. Even though they say they’re bmw specialists. Sure they can do a brake job or spark plugs etc, but they didn’t really listen to what I thought about the car issues and gave me cookie cutter responses. Probably just thought I was another one of those “internet pros” that don’t know what I’m talking about.. Edge was upfront, talked me through their thought process, and was very fair in pricing. They also work on bmw race cars and love driving bmws :)

    Hi mate my bmw 1 series 2008 oil leaking from turbo pipe. What part should i need to replace?

  • @Mau105
    @Mau105 9 місяців тому

    apparently the diverter valve that mounts to the turbo failed at 25K miles. In order to change it out, the intercooler and charge pipe must be removed in order to access the 3 waterpump bolts. The pump apparently must be loosened to move into space previously occupied by charge pipe. All of this to access the 3 bolts holding the diverter valve in place. Go Fast makes a much improved diverter valve that is a solution. The dreaded code for diverter valve is 120308, car goes into limp when you gas it...

    So for my 2019 NAZDA 2.5 L. turbo the excellent CORK SPORT intercooler is BLACK POWDER COATED! GAK! That black coating reduces the efficiency so I'll stick with the UNpainted OEM intercooler. But... maybe I'll replace the "in" and "out" pipes for a bit greater efficiency. Does that make sense? There are a few constrictions in the OEM pipes.
    BTW, I am using a K&N drop-in air filter. "Engineering Explained" shows a K&N does bring horsepower up meaningfully.
    BTW #2, I have already installed the Cork Sport oil catch can.

    • @FritzRamos
      @FritzRamos  3 роки тому

      Changing the pipes is more of a preventative maintenance thing as they are prone to breaking even under stock boost (in addition to heat cycling). The larger intercooler will be more impactful if you add a tune, but I figured that I might as well do it all at the same time since it's already out.
