Yes man. Just relistened this whole CD and it is pure gold still. Listened to carcass since heartwork but this made buy thicker strings and tune down my guitar and learn all the songs. In my mind this is among the best albums of the 90's. Not a single bad song on this album...same goes for heartwork.
This is the album that got me into Carcass years ago. I first checked out Heartwork after hearing several different metal fans refer to it in very high regard, but it was I guess "too heavy," or something was off because it just didn't catch on with me after first listening. But I checked out other Carcass stuff on this album and I ended up getting really into Swansong where I'd listen to it start to finish and I learned several of my favorite guitar riffs on this album. Then I went back to Heartwork - even Necroticism - and now I love both of those albums. Heartwork is now definitely my favorite by them. Swansong is wayyyyy more accessible though. Necroticism also has Corporal Jigsore Quandary(ridiculous name😂) which is one of my favorite tracks by them and they played it for their encore when I saw them in 2014 or 2015, so that was awesome. And of course No Love Lost was in their set list - that's always a banger too.
Alright I’m gonna say it right now: Reek Of Putrefaction - 10/10 Symphonies Of Sickness - 10/10 Necroticism - 10/10 Heartwork - 10/10 Swansong - 10/10 They’re all my waifu albums 😍😍😍
Toda a temática da condição humana e espiritual juntos em um álbum fudido! As pessoas n tem sequer noção do que se trata ele... Quero escutar essa besta apocalíptica no meu desencarne.
Very interesting. If you pay attention to the lyrics, this tune is absolutely far more relevant and apparent now in 2022 than anytime since this album was released. Points toward genius intuition in the songwriting.
are they? they speak of the "free western world" as if it was once a reality and is only recently starting to fall apart because of china or something. am i misunderstanding?
The story of this album was interesting to say the least. When it was released, nobody was buying them and earache had them all sent back to them and they couldn't get rid of them..lol
Death and roll for ever...this was kick ass album...i was waiting something technical after Heartwork but they did something classy, dirty and simple...good for them ;-)
Why people doesnt rate this album high? You have literally everything in Swansong, headbanger riffs, amazing solos, drumming hard, lyrics are very good.
Большинству дэз-металхэдов надо лишь мощь, басуха и гитары(как на Хартворке); а мелодика и смысл(как на Свансонге) - мало кому. Такой типичный срез человечества:(
Carcass' older shit went harder, like Reek of Putrefaction. This is just the sellout-era stuff. It's alright but will never be as hard as the old shit.
Just love Carcass from my adolescence. Have been listening for 25 years. On 17 of September Carcass releases brand new album Torn Arteries. I am waiting for it!
this album is like de mercenary from bolt thrower , is not that trueee cliche death metal , but catch your ear and atention , amazing riffs and harmonies
I actively avoided this album for the longest time after getting into Carcass because everyone everywhere told me it was shit and a massive step down. After listening to it all I hear is just more of the Heartwork sound but maybe slightly more commercial. It's good, and this song is a fucking banger. This is what In Flames and Amon Amarth wish their own more radio-friendly takes on melodeath sounded like.
@@smleeg955 I forget where I heard this song, but I love it! Don't really know much of their other stuff. I was a young teen in the early 80's when there were really only a couple of catagories of metal (pop, glam, power and thrash) so I'm wondering what characteristics make this "death metal" (legitimately asking). The cowbell sounds like a rock song, and some of the music sounds like Corrosion Of Conformity, whom I wouldn't call death metal. Do death metal tunes lean towards a political side? And I would have thought death metal leaned more towards stuff like Cannibal Corpse?
This Song was ahead of its time. Respect to Carcass96Swansong!! One thing I don't understand: why did they start singing about all kinds of dismemberment again??
I remember seeing them when they toured with Testament and Slayer in 2016. That was one hell of a show; I wasn't really familiar with Carcass prior to that concert. They had a pretty solid setlist that night.
This is the only relevant recording by Carcass these lyrics carry the ugly truth of Global condition and the disdain that we of the West slept through.... Remarkably written subject matter Carried out with Giant Steel feet. BRAVO
Yeah, Swansong is my fav, then putrefaction, then symphonies of sickness, then heartwork, then necrotism. The demo before putrefaction, ripping sonic torment, is better than the album, but whatever
i think that's the point of the song... being able to see the cracks in western society even in the mid-90s. "economic salvation in sweatshops returned from the east," for example. i take that to mean multinational corporations are going to exploit whoever they can, whenever they can. and it'll be our turn soon enough. now the US has a president whose entire team are corporate leaders and tycoons. the prediction in this song is coming sooner than people think.
Just played this album in the car today forgot how good it is. Anyone else rocking this in 2021!
yes
Nope…rocking it since it was made

The best example of death n' roll
100000% AGREED 👊⚡
💯❤️🔥💪!!!
For sure.
Definitely better than Wolverine blues. I actually quite love swansong ngl 🤷🏽♂️
It's 2023 and i still cant get enough of Swansong. Sure Torn Arteries and Surgical Steel is brilliant work but Swansong is just very special
it's 2024 mate
I'm saying bro
It's a masterpiece
Alright I’m gonna say it right now:
Reek Of Putrefaction - 10/10
Symphonies Of Sickness - 10/10
Necroticism - 10/10
Heartwork - 10/10
Swansong - 10/10

What about Surgical Steel? I thought it was great too.
@zeag7187 Haven’t listened to Carcass’ Nuclear Blast material yet, will soon 👍

@Sinxytlol3 I respect your opinion, but you’re technically wrong 😊
@@Ivegotsomewater81 how so?
(im just not into grindcore since its a bit harsh for me)
That's how a good band do! A political song, criticizing the global economic system and the sold western freedom.
Everyone trashed this album, so I never bothered listening to it until now. Actually has some really good songs on it.
Yah think?
"We wrote all the material for Heartwork and Swansong at the same time - so if you think Swansong is shit, it's all shit."
NOBODY trashed this album, except maybe a few grindcore fans - as there is zero grindcore left on this release.
all its songs are really good
The production is brilliant, riffs are killer, Jeff is on point, Swansong is underrated!!
Toda a temática da condição humana e espiritual juntos em um álbum fudido!
As pessoas n tem sequer noção do que se trata ele...
Quero escutar essa besta apocalíptica no meu desencarne.
So right. Masterpiece, and yeah the production, man. Colin Richardon's best prod ever.
My favorite Carcass. Genuinely. It's so catchy and fun to sing along to. And the solos are killer
other bands wish they could write an "ok" Carcass album.
@James Bond you mean their 1993 style?
@James Bond the difference between them is that carcass were the first to do it.
@James Bond
Heartwork still the best Melodic Death Metal album ever
Can't understand why critics roasted this album is my favorite from Carcass.
Much like Opeth, Carcass's rust is most other bands platinum.
Very interesting. If you pay attention to the lyrics, this tune is absolutely far more relevant and apparent now in 2022 than anytime since this album was released. Points toward genius intuition in the songwriting.
🎯👊⚡
indeed my friend. prophetic
This, Acid Rain by DRI, and When Freedom Dies by Nuclear Assault are the unholy trinity of metal prophecy
👍🤘🔝
the lyrics are true and honest
are they? they speak of the "free western world" as if it was once a reality and is only recently starting to fall apart because of china or something. am i misunderstanding?
Sim Jeff é genial!
The story of this album was interesting to say the least. When it was released, nobody was buying them and earache had them all sent back to them and they couldn't get rid of them..lol
It's been a long time since I heard this magnificent masterpiece. Still amazing to this day.
i can scream every word of this album
FUCK MAN 🧨SAME HERE 🌪💥
Best Carcass album ever, it's still fresh, groovy, melodic, and grinding
Agreed 100% Also truthful and more relevant than ever
Anyone else feels like thrashing the car around......best tunes for it.
Death and roll for ever...this was kick ass album...i was waiting something technical after Heartwork but they did something classy, dirty and simple...good for them ;-)

I didn't know this song had a music video!!! Thats wicked!!!
I love how Jeff's bass comes in at the 2:06 mark. This entire album is groovy but also lowkey kind of evil! :D
1:35 If your price is rice.
I cannot unhear it.
Thank you very much for this!
Now I can not overhear it😂😂😂
😭😭
Guys I love this album, especially jeff's basslines, Great job as always

This one is my favorite from them 😊
Because it wasn't Heartwork 2.0

Their producer should have told them.
also to their other track on the same album "tommorow belongs to nobody""

Good...Good
classic :D
The beginning, especially for bands heavier than them.
MORE COWBELL!!
um... the world isn't even free anymore.... at least nowhere near the 1990s......
i think that's the point of the song... being able to see the cracks in western society even in the mid-90s.
