No lie, I thank Carcass in part for my extensive vocabulary and literally making me smarter as a teenager. After finding out what the hell “Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious” meant, I had to dive into the lyrics and decoded everything they sang about. Truly well thought out, intentional lyricism that really paints a picture in your mind and truly makes the band. Inpropagation alone is an incredible example of that. “Insipid fumes bellow from the atrabilious chimney, the sanctified crevet I calmly pillage and rake for hot, dried powdered human slag still steaming in the crematorium’s grate” 🤯 One of my favorite bands forever. Absolutely legendary!
HAHAHA I can relate, I'm Brazilian and started to learn English (and history) annoying my English teacher with Iron Maiden, and then satanism with Slayer and Deicide and then... real cranium teaser, carved from flesh and bone, so mystifying.
Hahaha awesome! I did an English class presentation on the song Mandatory Suicide by Slayer. Pretty sure I got extra credit for being so informative and going above & beyond.
I thought that same thing when I first saw this at like 17 years old. Made Carcass seem as gross as their music sounded. I was creeped out but hooked. Walker is an extremely solid bassist and vocalist. A god of grind for sure.
Although I loved Jeff’s voice (and still do) the dual vocal were bad ass! Jeff has maintained his voice unlike Chris Barnes who was (in his prime) the absolute best but now is completely laughable
Besides the mix it also seems that that there is something wrong with the guitar amps, you can see Bill walk over to his amp several times throughout their set (sometimes even in the middle of a song during a break) to twiddle with the knobs. You can hear especially during the solos that he doesn't have enough sustain to pull off certain parts of a lead, almost like the tubes in the amp were going bad or something, sounded awful either way.
And not helped by Jeff's long-time and always annoying habit of slurring those brilliant lyrics. My favourite death metal lyrics of all time are on Necroticism and he just butchers them. Pedigree fuckin butchery.
I was at the Bradford one too and spookily I was talking about that gig last night and the Gods of Grind tour last night! Hence why I thought I’d rewatch this ace video! I still listen to Carcass regularly as their stuff has never aged for me. I still listen to numerous Entombed and Death tracks but this bunch are still my all-time favourites by a long stretch. Plus the fact Bill and Jeff had cameo roles on Red Dwarf made them even bigger heroes!! Grindcore pioneers and legends 🤘
I heard a story many years ago back when they toured Australia around this era that they performed a show somewhere here, it was either before or after that gig that there stage prop picture of the surgical equipment was stolen by unknown individuals.

The Entombed gig from the same show has the same problem, my theory is it´s probably the same amp backline and a lead isn´t plugged in all the way or a valve/tube is dead. Something is def. wrong for both bands.
@@corycourtney8923 Hard to see, but I take note that both Bill Steer and Alex Hellid from Entombed played stage left and have the same shitty sound from this show. Something wrong there for sure, maybe a shared distorsion pedal with a dying battery or whatever. Alex didn't use an HM-2 so they could be on the same faulty gear. Bill carries it better though, he is obviously the more accomplished player as well perhaps not as drunk?😆
Very nice upload, thanks Earache ! I will always wish Carcass would emphasize Symphonies of Sickness more in their live shows ... that was an outstanding album guys, better than Necroticism I would say
You know how a lot of older bands look like they're cos-playing as younger versions of themselves and kind of failing at it? There's a few older bands that seem like the opposite, it looks like their younger selves are cos-playing as their older selves, Slayer is a prime example, Ningen Isu from Japan are also like that, Rob Zombie to a certain degree, and definitely Carcass.
My youngest child fell asleep within five minutes of me turning this on. I'm not surprised, she loves this stuff. She also head bangs to Napalm Death. 😁
Awesome show, when they came to New Haven, CT US that year (92') it was Carcass, Napalm Death, Cathedral, and Brutal Truth ...and ~$20, ha! Good times!

As a person who plays guitar 2/3 of my life(although idont consider myself a guitarist)I think Bill feels very uncomfortable playing the exact studio versions of the solos and i feel that's the reason why he made mistakes when he tries. Don't get me wrong because I love him as a player. His riffs and solo construction are ingenious. Nowadays in live shows he plays the solos freely and therefore much more better.
I think the reason he felt akward playing the solos here, was because of the lack of gain. You can see him walk over to his amp many times during the set to change the settings, something had to of been wrong with the amp he was playing, you can hear notes choking out because of the lack of sustain all the time, just a nightmare. I'd be furious if I was in his place.
