  • Convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh and his attorneys want a new trial after claiming the Clerk of Court tampered with the jury. #VinniePolitan interviews two attorneys representing Murdaugh's jurors. However, they are on different sides. Joe McCulloch represents the jurors that claim Rebecca Hill tampered with the jury. Eric Bland represents the jurors that have a different opinion.

What a corrupt courtroom from the beginning to the end.. and end is not in sight. Agent Owens lying to grand jury to get indicment. Agent Owen going to the blood lab to influence them to change the report. Prosecution hiding the original report which was completely different from the one Owens presented to the Grand jury. Judge carried water and did all the favors for the state. And now we find out they even worked on kicking a juror off under false alegations, and influencing the rest of the jurors. It was corrupt and disgusting to watch how they "carried justice" and now we see more of their Dirty underhanded Justice via this Clerk of the court Becky.

@@trigremlin These jurors are either 100% stupid or corrupt. Or both. I see no other option here.
They convicted a man of murder not because they listened inside the courtroom and understood the case. Nope. They convicted a man because a clerk told them to pay careful attention when the defendant testifies - and this, for them, was the proof of guild of the defendant. I mean... W H A T ?????
If the allegations are true, the clerk must be held responsible. But there must be no other trial, since we must assume that the jury has the IQ to deliver a verdict based upon the trial and nothing else. If not, then we cannot assume that the jury of a second trial will be more clever.
Furthermore, these jury members must be prosecuted since they misled the court: they were asked every single day if they discussed the case with *anyone* - and their silence was a lie.
Jury system sucks. Random idiots with negative IQ can decide the fate of criminals.

What I've learnt from listening to people online with family members who are lawyers/cops, is ALWAYS get a lawyer if you're under some form of legal investigation! The investigators aren't on your side (even if you're innocent), they're on the side of trying to find the truth! A lawyer is the ONLY WAY you ensure your rights are preserved through the investigation/questioning process, so suggesting that the jurors get lawyers is actually a really respectful and considerate thing to say as far as I'm concerned! It's a pity that getting a lawyer is more commonly associated with the presumption of guilt, rather than an effort to protect your rights!

I agree, BUT it still sounded like a threat coming from the ones who are going after them. If a guilty verdict puts legal targets on the backs of jury members whenever the Defendant is a rich/powerful person, justice dies. If you don't make a lot of money, would you give someone like AM a guilty verdict after this? If you can't afford a lawyer, then you'd better go with "innocent."
This is serious, and the only way that protects the system a little is if the court automatically covers lawyer costs if your jury duty causes you to get into something like this. But it clearly doesn't do that right now.

I’ve been told all my life, by not only LE officers, but Judges & other attys, who’ve we grew up with. My FIL, 2 BIL’s opposite sides of families, ex boyfriend from the 80’s, & other long term family relationships, all LE, Attys & or Judges seated currently, have all told us since we were little the police are there to help you when you’re in crisis over a crime, but you always consult an atty before going to speak to any LE officer. When I heard ex FBI, Bobby Chicconi, speak on the mother from 8 passengers, or the other business partners arrest, & she lawyered up & began talking of her immediate guilt & is what all cops & FBI immediately think when someone gets an atty - makes the world know that cops are dirty, or this cop was definitely dirty, as that’s your legal right & has always been the smart thing to do. This should NEVER have been admissible! Mr. Murdaugh was and is set to answer for these crimes separately, and don’t say it’s about character. His lawyers reached out to the jurors, but they weren't talking. Then Miss Becky published her book and they got p*ssed off when they read it, so they got a lawyer and told Murdaugh's lawyers the truth, and they filed sworn Affidavits.

That’s not true. In the press conference they mentioned they were approached first by two jurors who wanted to tell the truth. Following the conversation and allegations, then they went door to door to ask other jurors. If I recall correctly, two other jurors spoke but didn’t want to file affidavits. That’s why the paralegals wrote them.
It’s not against the law to reach out to jurors after trial. Many defense attorneys do to get insight on their thoughts and basically get some feedback. The problem would be if they harassed them. In the conference, they note some told them no or to go away, which they did.

This was just in the news for August 31, 2023: Convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh has lost his phone privileges and his prison tablet computer after his lawyer recorded him reading his journal entries on a call for a documentary about his case, South Carolina Corrections Department officials said Wednesday.
Prison policy prohibits inmates from talking to the media without permission because the agency “believes that victims of crime should not have to see or hear the person who victimized them or their family member on the news,” state prisons spokeswoman Chrysti Shain said in a statement.
The media interview violation, along with another violation for using a different inmate's password to make a telephone call, are prison discipline issues and not a crime, Shain said.
Murdaugh also lost his ability to buy items in the prison canteen for a month in the discipline hearing held Monday
