I heard a box truck guy say he was told by dot that the scales stopped giving voluntary inspections because shady companies would send brand new trucks in basically like decoys for lack of a better term to get the bypass. So basically their junk trucks would also get the bypass since they run under the same company. That’s trucking, always bad apples ruining things for those doing it right.
Sounds about right. Hurts me tremendously to have that 50% OOS rating on my DOT, definitely not a good look for me. And I’m not disputing the fact I’ve earned that, I was out of compliance, I just hate that I’ve only been inspected twice and that 1 OOS is weighing my score down so much. I may just troll the scales and spend a day going through them. With my luck, there’s probably a fine for doing that🤣 👊🏻🍻
Do u have access to DAT or any load board other than amazon ?? want to see 26ft box trucks loads in san Bernardino CA area. amazon is having lot of issues with ratings and rates and lot of drivers are moving away from amazon. I met some drivers they call it slavery of amazon. what is your thought ?
I do have access to DAT and I also use TruckSmarter here and there. If you want to see what DAT looks like, hit me up on instagram and I’ll send it over to you (same account over there). My thoughts: Like every broker out there, Amazon offers low paying, barely profitable loads 100% of the time. As I type this to you and have the load board running on a separate device, I’m looking at a garbage load board right this second, but, it updates every 15 seconds. I’m currently looking at 1 of 5760 possibilities for today. It is/are these possibilities that enable me to string together profitable weeks, last week I worked three days for them and grossed $4.7K (net $4K after fuel/tolls). I never want to come across as the guy who “thinks he’s doing it right”, but rather than forcing myself to run for them everyday, I wait for them to have a “crisis” and that’s when I show up. For me, it’s all about picking my spots. Those times I’ve found myself running out of desperation (as opposed to running from a position of negotiation) are usually times where I mess up and I try like hell to not do that. I really do believe their system is based on convenience (no on boarding, relatively quick pay) and once something is made convenient, some are willing to pay (get paid less) for those features. I have yet to accept this. Again, don’t want to come across as the Big Swingin’ D guy who knows everything, it’s just the way I approach it. 👊🏻🍻
What's up man, so I think you were talking about when you apply to drive for Amazon you need 3 months of time on your authority? I might have said that wrong but could you explain what that 3 months time means?
I’m not exactly sure about three months, but early last year Amazon began requiring six months (180 days). What it means is that you have to have active authority for 180 days before Amazon will work with you. Back when I started, I can’t remember if they would take you on day 1 or day 30, but it definitely wasn’t 180 days. Keep in mind, these requirements are always changing and the best possible source to keep up on these requirements is directly through them: relay.amazon.com/ If you scroll to the bottom, there is a tab called “What are the requirements to carry loads for Amazon”, this is where the most up-to-date info can be found. 👊🏻🍻
