CALAIS to LE MANS and straight in to TROUBLE!

- Part 1 of our European summer trip begins with putting some miles on the clock to make our way down to the South of France and on to Spain as quickly as is comfortable!
Motorhomes are made very welcome in France and Spain with many free or low cost dedicated aires in almost every city, town and village.
Unlike last year when we travelled to Germany and stayed on 2 campsites, this year we are moving about and spending only one night here and there to really push down through France.
With no particular travel plan, this vlog shows you what we discover in Le Mans - beyond just the world famous 24 hour car race - and the tight spots we get ourselves in to travelling on the minor roads to avoid toll roads in our 5T, 9 meter long motorhome!
We are following Dee driving the @WanderingWheelie van at this point and their van is somewhat smaller than ours...

The 24 hours is a race, not a rally, not all the track is public roads, the museum is well worth a visit if you have time, Le man's is a lovely town, particularly the old part near Jacobins.

There’s some snazzy bikes. Le Mans looks a great place to visit, and what a great park up (riverside park ups are our favourite). Great outtakes and look forward to the next instalment 😍 xx

We would recommend the park up. In a UK town that would cost a fortune!

Hello. We loved the bikes, but the battery (we think) failed a after 13 months and Fiido offered no support other than us buying a new battery from them 😔
They are great town bikes and can do slight inclines. But I’d say for any sort of off road or long range activity they probably aren’t up to the job.
And the customer service was poor sadly
Hello we are heading to France and Spain in May thud year. We have a Citreon Berlingo car which we use as a camping car. Do you think we will be ok in the Aires or is that just for motorhomes and vans? Also we have applied for the crit’air emissions sticker for France but do you have to register your car in Spain to apply for a Spanish one too.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻Loving the channel as always. 🫶🏻🚍

Hi Andrea. We’ve not invested in a LEZ sticker for Spain as yet, but if there’s a chance you are going near to the big cities that have them, the few euros they cost will put your mind at ease!
We have bought one for Germany as we plan to return this year and we know we need one for Düsseldorf!

In terms of camping in a car, we’re not experts by any means, but I think you’ll be fine at the larger camping car service areas on the main routes. However, some Aires in towns and villages have as little as 3 spaces and so they are a premium and if they are especially for motorhomes (big!) and you are a smaller vehicle people might grumble.
If you have the park4nights and Search4Sites apps, you should be able to make a judgement from the description of each Aire.
