Every Riverside album has moments of genius. They have no bad albums, and ADHD is definitely at the top of the list for most fans. They've had a long evolving career ,and wear ALL of their influences on their sleeves.... Porcupine Tree, Vangellis ,Dead Can Dance , Tears For Fears , Talk Talk , Deep Purple , Depeche Mode , Dream Theater, Pink Floyd ( many more).... their biggest talent is that they ALWAYS.....sound like Riverside. A rare talent. They even have a double album of electronica. Mariusz Duda ( the singer/ bassist/principal songwriter) is analogous to Steven Wilson ( they have collaborated on a song called "The Old Peace"!!!), and has an established solo career as Lunatic Soul.
ADHD is one of my favorite albums from Riverside. You should really check out some of their other work. Porcupine Tree and Riverside are probably my 2 favorite progressive bands, with Opeth and Pineapple Thief close behind.
So fun watching you discover this music! Riverside, and bassist/singer Mariusz Duda's side project Lunatic Soul, are amazing -- huge stylistic variety, and absolutely impeccable sound engineering (as you heard!). They're one of the bands I've discovered in recent years that I'm most blown away by... the other two being Big Big Train, and Haken. Since you haven't reacted to Lunatic Soul yet, I'd highly recommend you give them a try; the track "Gutter" is a great entry point. Cheers!
Some other song suggestions from Riverside: Out of Myself, Conceiving You, Reality Dream III, Left Out, Depth of Self Delusion, Escalator Shrine, Saturate Me, Time Travellers, Wasteland, River Down Below. Some of their stuff is more mellow (think Pink Floyd), while others like the one here more intense. Lead singer Mariusz Duda also has a solo project called Lunatic Soul which is also very good. There is a song called "Thousand Shards of Heaven" which is a masterpiece IMO.
You will enjoy Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Riverside, Gazpacho, Airbag, Nosound, Steven Wilson, Mariusz Duda, Bjorn Riis, Nine Stones Close, Lunatic Soul, Storm Corrosion - Try a few 😊
Riverside is another great band and I was fortunate enough to see them on the cruise!! That’s the place to go to see great prog bands! I’m not familiar with this tune so it was a first listen for me but I knew it was gonna be a great one! Other tunes to check out would be # Addicted and Caterpillar and the barbed wire. Speaking of Haken. They dropped a new single a few weeks ago called “the Alphabet of Me” and it’s the most brilliant pop song you will ever hear about the movie/book Bladerunner. You’ll appreciate the complex drum rhythms in it!
As the man says, "Go, go, go!". Love hearing these bands which are not very well known in the US. A great band to check out in the UK with straightforward groovy soul influenced rock is The Milk. Check out Don't Give Up the Night or Wanderlust.
Riverside doesn't have a bad song. The lyrics are spot on and fit the music. I see you are a Red Sox fan, but don't know how close to Boston you live. Riverside is touring and 3/14 BRIGHTON MUSIC HALL, BOSTON, MA maybe the closest to you. I feel in the progressive world Riverside, Haken, Leprous, Opeth are huge names, but don't get the Dream Theater recognition here because they are not from the Sates. Edit: Maybe Opeth does because they have been around long enough.
This entire album is amazing, but the best two tracks from them are Escalator Shrine and Second Life Syndrome. Edit to add. I wish I had the money to go, but Haken and Riverside will be joining other prog bands on Cruise to the Edge.
Riverside is not very big in Poland besides the progressive rock/metal community. Seriously, this is the best polish band since SBB and nobody knows about it because polish 'taste' in music is pretty much awful. Songs like "Hybrid Times" and "Escalator Shrine" is everything You (or anyobody else) need to know about this band. It's absoultely beautiful.
Let me know if you want bands from Europe has good has porcupine tree, haken or riverside. Sometimes I don't send it because I always assume its from the amount of requests that sticks out. Some bands are amazing but have less followers but they are as good has the others
My favorite band in the world. Escalator Shrine is a masterpiece. New album coming out 1/20
Added!
Finally Riverside, my favorite band with Porcupine Tree.

Riverside are a truly great Polish band. :)
Yes!! Their song Left Out is awesome too!
They have a US tour coming up!

They are an amazing live band as well

Getting those Porcupine Tree vibes? You will! Steven Wilson and Mariusz Duda have collaborated on a number of projects…..
Last week released ID.Entity is awesome. And you mention it, that one has Haken vibes as well. But I think it would be the other way around ;)
