IMHO, the greatest band you never heard of till now. Lol. I’m a ginormous PT and SW fan as well as a huge prog fan. But there is something about this band that is just incredible! The seamless transitions between musical styles in this song is mind blowing as well as the story! Ray Hearnes is the drummer and is tied for first place as my favorite drummer next to Gavin. They are all amazing musicians and there is just magic that comes out of Ross Jennings’ voice. On a side note, when you get back to playing the skins again and looking for a musician to jam with long distance let me know. I play a lot of PT stuff. One of my most recent YT videos is of me playing “Trains” acoustically if you want to check it out
It's really a pleasure to see someone enter the same rabbit holes, i.e., PT and Haken. If you're up for another rabbit hole, might I suggest the Polish band. Riverside? Here's a live performance of their song 'Escalator Shrine': ua-cam.com/video/lvh96wZkb0M/v-deo.html Haken's drummer, Ray Hearne, is one of the best around; had the pleasure of being ~20 feet from his kit at the end of May, then about the same proximity to see Gavin play with The Pineapple Thief three nights later. Ray, however, layers on harmony vocals while he shreds on the drums. Another chance to see Ray's mastery is '1985': ua-cam.com/video/LMQoJDWGBVs/v-deo.html
Not only an epic Masterpiece, IMO tied for greatest concept album of all time. I highly, highly suggest reading through the lyrics to understand the amazing underlying story. It adds so much gravity and emotion to this epic conclusion. Found this channel through this video, Subbed for more PT content. Enjoy the ride!
@@BigBeatReactions It was amazing. They played for three hours, minus a 20 minute brake and it was just so great. Managed to get to the front row, just by the bass guitarist. Good view as well. :)
You've done 2 of my 3 favorite bands: Haken and Porcupine Tree. You only need to listen to Dream Theater now :) Also, the best Haken songs of all time not counting Visions: Crystallised and Celestial Elixir. There you have 2 more recommendations ;)
I was a huge DT fan until I saw them live. Singer just failed them all. Musicianship 10+, vocals 4- After that concert I've only been listening DT instrumental only. :( Ross Jennings, he sounds good even live!
If you're looking for more live Haken, my recommendation has to be Aquamedley. I think they also have a live recording of Crystallised but the audio quality is less than perfect for sure - still, the studio version from Restoration (2014) amazes me.
Man it's a great live album, but I have only watched it once. I much prefer to hear the concept album in its entirety then the Aquamedley, not that it doesn't sound great.
Haken are the best man. If you liked the "spookiness " then check out Nocturnal Conspiracy off the Visions album. I think their most mind blowing song is Carousel. They're literally "Feel Masters" in my opinion. They explore so many different styles and rhythms as well as melody and harmony. Dream Theater sat on the prog throne for the longest , but haken officially dethroned them.
@@BigBeatReactions Hey! Three more days for you! They were great! I really have not got into the new album, it just does not "click" with me. But every song was performed so well!

Pure. Unbridled. Creativity.
Glad you enjoyed! :D
Explore more from them! You can't go wrong with them!
Thanks for shout out. Love that you've gone down the prog rabbit hole.
Some of the best live band sound balance I've ever heard in this performance!

The whole visions album is fantastic!
